Well, the extra VX2 battery I got that was giving me problems went boom this morning. Screwed it into the charger, and PFFFT, smoke came out of the LED end and it had that wonderful smell of a battery going poof. I'm thinking that the loose center post caused a short or something... Guess I'll hang onto it in case I need the connector for a mod, or to make a usb passthrough if Shawn doesn't end up selling one. 8-o

Well, less than two weeks with my VX2, and now 3 batteries of the 3 I have have gone PFFTTT when I went to recharge them. Smoke coming out of the LED end, and that wonderful smell of a battery gone bad. One went bad when it was put into the regular charger a few days ago, and the other 2 just went poof when I put it into the USB charger. Am I just unlucky with these? I have a feeling that the USB charger shorted them out, possibly a loose center post or something. Not sure if I should get a hold of Shawn separately about this... though I'm sure he'll see it here...

So, for now... I no longer have a VX2 since all batteries are fried. :(

ViciousCircle,

Just curious I just got my kit today and I noticed when I plug in my USB charger into a PC it turns green, but when I plug in my battery into the charger it stays green and does not turn red like it does with the wall charger to let you know it is charging.

Does your USB charger do the same thing? If so how do you know when it is finished charging?

ViciousCircle,

Were you by any chance dripping on the atomizer? That will lead to failure with this particular model as well as some other automatic batteries for different models. Other than the battery I fried by dripping, my others are still working fine.

As to chargers, wherever possible I use the kind that you plug into the wall. USB chargers can be flaky and I've read lots of reports of issues with them. Not the VX2 in particular, but all of them.

RsL,

Nope, no dripping with the VX2 at all. I do drip when using my 510 with a manual battery, but I don't drip when using any auto batteries due to the problems it can cause. I'm thinking that I may have to mostly stay away from the USB charger for this though. THe first battery that went bad gave me fits from the day I got it, and it's center post was somewhat pushed in further than the other batteries that came with the kit, so that one was kinda bad from the start.

I wasn't going to worry about asking Shawn to do anything about one battery though. However, now that I have 3 of 3 bad, I've sent him a PM. The other 2 though I'm guessing went bad because of the USB charger...
