Sorry I brought college into it. Only did so to enhance the point about 'preer pressure' to do 'cool things'.
Some pretty good research has been done on that concept.

Even if someone wanted to do that sort of research in High Schools....it would be rather difficult since they are not yet of age for the device, or the possible drugs they can be used to deliver.

Turns out...in a relaxed atomosphere where indulgence was much more private and 'self moderated'...the urge to 'benge' goes way down. The young people just want to 'set their own limits' and have fun.

It was the 60s. What can I say?

Sometimes it happened in the 90s too ;)
I did some of my schoolin' in a small University, and had a major (Music) that not many people will go near. With classes of 5 students, a cigar/pipe loving professor, and most of the students being smokers...it wasn't uncommon for us to grab our books and head over to the coffee shop (away from the campus where smoking was banned) to do our classes ;) Puff Puff.....

The whole lot of us were evil leapors har har har.
