Wake up call....

howdy all,

I am just gonna spill guts here....:) Back in 2011 hubby had a TIA due to a blood clot after an accident. Was advised to reduce blood pressure, quit smoking. He did none of the above, he had a wake up call and had a small stroke on Monday. All is good, he has no neurological deficits, however he is not allowed to drive for 30 days (he is a commercial truck driver - but since the economy sucks not much work anyway), he is on blood thinners and blood pressure drugs, and reading Allen Carr. Now, I vape, however, I am weak... He never quit smoking and I had no willpower to power through him smoking in house and vehicle (which is in for repairs - need to replace the transmission about $5000 for a rebuild) so I was a dual user occasionally having more during high stress moments. Now he is a little more determined to quit - he thinks vaping is "cheating" so I can't convince him to switch, he tried my MVP/mini nautilus combo once, coughed and said "not gonna work" - but he is not begrudging me vaping though - which is good, I am stocked up on juice, coils and hopefully extra will power...
I am using MVP/mini nauti combo with 12mg 50/50 - finally settled on my flavour profiles (nothing fruity/ candy gives me wicked heartburn). I like coffee/Kalua and other coffee combos, chocolate mint, custards - I get a nice TH from what I am using - now to push through.
Thanks for listening to my rant - off to work now with my vapes.....and no analogs to cheat from.....

You are not alone JM. Been in a somewhat similar situation for a long while now with my Mr. but the axe hasn't fallen all the way for him yet.

I hope sharing has helped you feel better. You have my sympathy and understanding all the way :)

Turn the power down just a little.
hand it back to him and Tell him NOT to Suck it like a straw

Remember what we all went through in the first few puffs?

I had Morning coughing fits every day for Weeks, until my lungs settled down.

*No old Ego/Clearo in the house?

Best wishes on a full recovery and conversion to Not smoking, however it happens.

I also had a wake up call a couple years ago.
Had a small stroke during the night, and woke up blind in one eye.
Was told I have a 40-50% chance it could happen in the other eye, within 5 years.
Doctors suggested it was most likely caused from smoking, and recommended I quit.
Have been vaping since, with good reports from my cardiologist.
I was lucky, as it could have been a lot worse.
It still takes will power to switch. WTAs helped me the first few months.
Best of luck to your husband.

    Thanks all,
    Good spewing guts lol!!
Unfortunately I gave away all my evods which may have suited him better - He says he is determined to cold turkey - I will support him anyway I can - even if that means splurging on a helicopter to fly him deep deep deep into the Rockies to go fishing..... ;)

Just celebrated my 1 year HeartAttackAversary yesterday - was a 30+ year PAD smoker prior. Still took me six months afterward to make the switch to vaping over smoking, though I smoked considerably less post-HA. Going cold-turkey is tough; some people can do it, most can't. Offer him the crutch of vaping for those times when it's really tough not to give in and have a smoke. A small tootling rig like an eGo with the right tank and juice will probably do the job.
Most of all, support him through the good and bad; you've been through the switch without some of the concerns he's dealing with.
