Hi everyone,

I switched from analogues about 5 days ago. I used to smoke about 1 pack per day-maybe a bit less (Marlboro reds) and am currently on a Volt, using juice of strength 24 (which I simply assumed was the strength I needed). These past three days I've had a VERY light sleep, and have awoken at night several times (not to smoke and not wanting to smoke, simply gotten awake, stayed in bed and eventually falling asleep again). I am under some stress right now but nothing extraordinary. I was wondering if it could be related to e-smoking or using strength 24 in my juice...

Has anyone had any similar experience?

Thanks for the info!

Hi deepeteo,

Being new the idea of diluting it so that it is less strong sounds good but I would have no idea of how to do that. How does one go about diluting it?

Is it simply getting some VG from a supply store and making a mix of my juice and it (and if so how exactly do you mix it)?

I had just bought one 30mL bottle of strength 18mg and am now worried that I won't be able to use it or will have to buy a new bottle of strength 12 or whatever for at night...

You can buy VG and PG on amazon for a good price if you have difficulty finding them in a store. mix them up 50/50 and then if you add 5 mil of that to 5 mil of 18 strength, you have 9 strength and half the flavor. you can also get the same juice at 0 nic and mix appropriately. just figure out the percentages to get what you want. if you add 1/4 0 juice to 3/4 24 juice, you will reduce the nic by 25%. Basically -
Level of nic times the percent you want to drop gives you the level you are dropping to.
start with 24 nic and drop it 25 %:
So 24 * .25 = 6
24 – 6 = 18 nic level

Now another question: does any of you use 18mg at night and sleep properly?

i chain vape all day on 18, and notice right before bed _ i mean within the hour - if i chain a lot it will not keep me awake so to speak but i will lay there with my mind racing until i fall asleep, but after a while the body can adjust, nic in low doses is a stimulant and has bothered a lot of people new to vaping when it comes to sleeping.

I vaped a DIY mix in the beginning well beyond 24mg. I had no sleep issues at all. I gradually reduced my Nic to 16mg/ml and only vaped on a VG mix. The only time I experience any sleep problems was when I started mixing flavors into my fluid. I want back to just plain H20/VG/nic mix (in the evening) and I sleep like a baby.

What's weird to me is that I used to always smoke one cigarrete right before going to bed and when I use my volt for say 8 minutes right before going to bed then I am getting awake several times at night...

Thrasher do you mean that after a while my body might get used to it and be able to have a good night's sleep, or should I go the way of diluting my juice?

you might get used to it, i vape right up until bed time now, but i cannot go crazy vaping right up to bedtime now. it may be best to just get some lower nic juice for evenings/bedtime for a while.

there is the belief that as we clean up our system from all the toxic sludge in smoke, out bodies arent as fatigued and actually require less rest then we thought while smoking. in the end we prepared ourselves for a long night by dosing up one last time before sleep.

now we have removed those sedative chemicals and replaced them with just pure nic, which i stated is can be seen as a stimulant. (in my belief) it is still releasing nic into our system as the vapor coating in our lungs and throat dissolve and absorb while we sleep.

with smoking when we exhaled the last time before bed the chemicals started to decline from there on out, as we absorb the smoke immediately, we dont absorb the vapor the same way as can be noticed by getting a pretty good nic buzz without actually inhaling the vapor into our lungs, a good example of this is the heavy feeling in the lungs and throat sometimes after vaping a lot, this is the pg and vg coating everything, but when you wake it is gone meaning the body broke it down and absorbed it, and i think any remaining nic in this coating may be what wakes us sometimes as it hits the blood stream.

I bought a big bottle of Food Grade USP Kosher 100% Pure Vegetable Glycerin from Amazon for $11.75. It looks like they raised the price though. Amazon.com: Glycerin Vegetable Kosher USP - 1 Quart: Health & Personal Care I was on a kick about only wanting to vape only VG for a while, but now I realize that it's not good for some vessels like the Vivi Nova tanks, so I'm going to pick up some pure PG, probably this one: Amazon.com: Propylene Glycol 1 Pint: Health & Personal Care

For my 18 mg juice, I'll just be eyeballing it half and half into my tank and shaking it up really good.

For your 30 mg juice, try filling 1/3 of the tank with 30 mg and fill the rest up with PG.

I would just take a little out of the 30ml bottle, and put an equal amount of pure vg USP grade and label it for nightime use. I would have one delivery system just for night so either a designated carto or tank. You could mark that with a piece of tape. I usually drip at night and use equal drops of pure vg and my normal mg. I use 18mg so at night I vape 12mg. It has made a world of difference. I like to chain vape at night so I was getting way to much nic to sleep.

18mg was keeping me up at night so I dropped to 11/12mg...then I found I like the flavours so much that I stuck at 11/12mg all day! I'll vape all day though...

I think the way I should have played it in the beginning was 24mg in the AM, 18mg during the day and 11/12mg in the evenings... ahh well!

I'd like to add that once I get to sleep, I can sleep for 12 hours! It's the getting to bed and getting up in the morning I struggle with!x

My sleep is still adjusting after 4 1/2 months of vaping. I agree with the lower nic juices at night. I was having a lot of trouble getting to sleep until I started doing 6mg for the last couple of hours before sleeping. But now, I find myself awake in the middle of the night, and I think it might be that my nic levels are falling too low. In the "olden days", I would occasionally get up and go outside for a cigarette if I really couldn't get back to sleep. I've finally decided to just put a pv with 18mg juice in it on my nightstand, and if I can't get back to sleep, a couple of hits off it helps a lot. This whole addiction thing is very complicated, isn't it?
