Okay here is my opinion:

Nicotine, PG,VG, syringes, needles 18 and 14 gauge and pipettes: Welcome to XtremeVaping.com

Flavors: Perfumers Apprentice - Professional DIY Flavors

More Flavors:http://www.ecigexpress.com/flavoring-flavourart-condensed-c-16_29

Great place for bottles. Use 10ml NATURAL Boston Round with dropper caps: Cylinder and Boston Round Bottles with Dropper Caps | U.S. Plastic Corp.

Flavor Art (E-Cig Express) makes some good tobacco flavors in my opinion. Try some Cowboy and perhaps some Tuscan Reserve.
After mixing you need to let your juice steep for about a week.

Good luck and have fun!

Some tips:

Paint the graduations on the outside of your syringes with clear nail polish. If you don't, the lettering will wash off after just a few uses. This makes them last a loooong time.

Tobacco flavors are VERY strong! Start out using only 2 drops per 5ml.

Buy some 1" X 2 5/8" mailing labels to stick onto your bottles. I write the recipe and date on the label and then stick it onto the bottle before I start mixing. Sometimes I mix 3 or 4 bottles of different flavors at the same time and this keeps things manageable. This way if it turns out as a great juice you can replicate it in the future, or you know what not to do in the future if it doesn't turn out.

I nuke a cup of water and keep it next to me to rinse out the syringe between uses so the flavors don't migrate between bottles.

After adding all the ingredients shake your bottles, then shake some more and then shake again.
Shaking the bottles will help speed up the steeping process a bit. You really can't shake too much!

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Pete

From what I have seen the 100mg is more cost effective but you have to write everything down on paper and figure out the cost per ml when your done.

Or go here and let the calculators figure it out cost for you - E-Liquid Recipe Mixing Calculator

As for just starting out, OneStopDIY offers 2 versions of their starter kit that will not only include the nic and dilutant, but a starter selection of flavorings to get you going as well as a few syringes, pipettes, gloves, measuring cups and a little funnel.

I just started as well . From all that i gathered RTS and xtremevaping has the best nic on the market . You can get RTS nic at highdesertecigs for less then RTS even sell it . You do have to be carefull with nic but its not as hard as it seems . I got 60mg nic . SO far i havent even spilled a drop of it or got it on anything . Use a syringe and keep a bowl of water next to you to rinse the syringe out as soon as you use it . Theres pretty much no way to get it on you doing it like that . Once the syringe touches the water and you suck some up its already safe as it dilutes in the water .

Until you figure out what you like in PG/VG ratio I wouldn't buy a gallon jug of nicotine. I found out after about 4 months I became allergic to PG and after 6 months I went to 0mg. I was left with 250ml of 100mg nic but luckily my daughter vapes so she was the benificiary of my mistake. Same with flavors, until you know what you like, buy small bottles (6 ml) if you can or go in with a friend and split a 10 or 15ml bottle. It will cost you a bit more in the beginning but will save in the long run. An yes I started out with 100mg nic. but I feel pretty confidend in my measuring skills and I use syringes. I think Nicvape sells 125ml of 100mg of nic for about $32., 30ml of 24mg uses 7.2ml of nic. so 125ml of 100mg will make about 17 30ml bottles of 24mg eliquid which should keep you busy for a while. You might like using the BD "Safety-Lok" 3ml syringe. You should be able to buy these from any pharmacy, I pay $.35@ where I live in Florida. They use a Luer Lok hub needle.

Just have to add my 2 cents here.

I suggest as a new DIYer you go strictly with Capella's flavorings to begin with. There's really not a failure rate there. You want your first attempts to yield you some really fine juices you're proud of. They're a little more expensive in the short run, but I would save TPA flavorings for when you know how to jostle the percentages around and correct mixes that turn out too strong or perfumey. Capella's is pretty much a mix the majority of them @ 10-15%, and they really don't need the steeping times that some other brands do. You can vape them the same day.

Good luck to you on it. Let us know how everything works out. Above all, have fun with it - it's fun and addictive.:)

Well, just ordered my nic, PG, VG, bottles, and all the like.

I want to make a nice tobacco to start, as that is our normal most used vape.

Personal favorite is VS Tampa, love how mellow it is with a hint of an almost fruity sweetness, and it's perfectly clear.

2nd would be Turbosmog,

RY4 is too sweet, I cut it with Mar-Bro Red, which takes some of the harshness from the Mar-Bro.

What I'm getting at is... what flavors should I order to start? I don't have a lot of money to spend at the moment so I don't want to make a mistake on what I get, or just go nuts and order everything heh.

SO! Again, any info is appreciated.

Thanks!!!

My suggestion would be to find a recipe or two that you would like to try, and then order the flavors required by the recipe. The thing about DIY is that some of the most used, or 'must have' flavors typically are not the primary flavors but are those used to add slight notes or to round out recipes. Like caramel, vanilla, cotton candy (sweetener), nut or cream flavors. Like Bavarian Cream...not exactly the main flavor in so many recipes, but would be used to round out the main flavors in a recipe.

The Seedman commercial concentrate is a solid base for tobacco, anywhere from 10 - 15%, with tobacco absolute diluted good to kick it up, at just a couple drops per 10ml. You can get both of them from BlueMist (I use TPA tobacco absolute diluted, but the blue mist version should be pretty similar).

Use about 15% seedman, 3% of a hazelnut, and a couple drops of TA diluted per 10 ml and you should have a decent tobacco. Skip the hazelnut and double up the TA and it will be a strong tobacco. Switch caramel for the hazelnut and you'll have another version.

I just did a variant, 8% Seedman commercial, 9% caramel, 4% vanilla, 2 drops of TA diluted per 10ml, that is pretty interesting. Sent some out for friends to try.

(I get vanilla, hazelnut, caramel from natures flavors, but Capellas or TPA are also decent.)
