I guess you're right about that. The atomizers really aren't very good though. I've never even seen them for sale individually. I just test new flavors in my stardusts - they're easy to wash out and the old flavors vape away in a few puffs. But the cones are $3.50 each and that is something you may want, so the atomizer kit may be the way to go. I still strongly recommend the vision cartomizers as the most noob friendly.

For a clearomizer, the Vision is as noob freindly as they come, except for the Fluxomizers, but they need a needle to fill.
the problem with testing in a Stardust is that it has a tendency to mute flavors. You might not notice it if you have nothing to compare it with, but if you vape the same flavor with a Stardust and an atomizer, you can tell. It's especially true with lighter flavors.

The atomizers in the kit are likely SLB. They aren't the greatest, but they would still cost $7-8 each if purchased separately. They're worth having around and you should always have one or two. The cartridges are trash, however. I don't understand why vendors still insist on including them. All I can figure is that there were 4 trillion of them made before cartomizers were invented and the Chinese can't figure out what else to do with them. So, they foist them on the rest of the world to ease the pressure on their own garbage disposal systems.

Hi! I'm a complete newbie, know nothing in the world of vaping.
I originally orderd a starter kit from Prosmoke, which tells you what a newbie I really am. I did two days worth of research on YouTube, and review sites, only to find out they are all full of crap. I joined this forum, and found out about the Joyetech 510. I cancelled my Prosmoke order.
Here comes the stupid questions.
1. Can you refill the cartridges with the fluid, or are they good for 1 fill each
2. Which Ego starter kit should I get? I know to get a manual battery, but I'm confused about the differences in the 510, 510T, 510 XL.

I apologize in advance for the ignorance in my vaping, but like RyanRed, I don't want to buy crap.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the help I can get!

#1 cartridges can be refiled, but you would do better to start with a good brand cartomizer, and yes they too can be refilled many times.

#2 eGo kits are normally either standard(consisting of 510 atomizers with carts and cones) or eGo-t (consisting of tank atomizers either type-a cone shaped or type-b cylinder shaped)
#2b. 510 would have a standard atty and cart
510-t would have a tank atomizer and tank cartridges
510xl would typically have a standard atty and cart but an extra long battery to increase its capacity(mAh)
Typically the 510 as described above are the smaller slim analog sized units which are not eGo sized. EGos are 14mm wide (the width of AA sized battery)while a standard 510 is 8mm wide(about the width of an analog).

I agree with sailorman , the standard attys are good to have around if for nothing more than to test liquids that you dont want to guess if you will like enough to devote a whole cartomizer to. Being a new user will more often than not have many rounds of testing involved to find a liquid thqat suits your tastes. If available I would advise a kit that contains atomizers and purchase a package (or three) of cartomizers to use as your all day vape. Take the carts and hide them. One day when you are really comfortable with vaping take them out and try and use them. You will see what it is like to start vaping two years ago....

I agree they're poor quality at best, and probably deserve only to be tossed in the garbage. But on the premise that halitosis is better than no breath at all, I'm keeping mine in reserve just in case I'm ever stupid or careless enough to wind up with absolutely no other cartomizer, atomizer or anything else that I could use to vape. But they are pizz poor to be sure.

Thank you, that really helps! There seems to be a mountain of info on vaping, and I'm just trying to absorb it all. It'd be easier to just keep smoking, but I want to see my grandkids grow up, so that is not an option.

I'm so glad I found this forum, or I would have just kept smoking analogs.

Are the Tank atomizers, and cartridges better than the standard ones?

I feel stupid, (again) for asking, but what is the difference between a standard atomizer, and a cartomizer?
I will order the cartomizers as you suggested, I just don't know the difference.

Man, now I know how my pc customers feel when I'm servicing their computers.

Thanks again for all of your help. You guys are very cool in this forum!

To the original poster, the KGO is a good unit for a new vaper. It's dependable, works well and doesn't require degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. Whether the kit you order comes with cartomizers or the Ego Vision clearomizers, I would highly recommend getting a couple of low resistance (LR) atomizers (for testing juices by dripping as Sailorman pointed out) and at least two extra 5-packs of LR cartomizers. My suggestion is either the Smok-Tech XL LR 1.7ohm or the Boge 2.0ohm cartos. Here are links to the two I'm talking about:

Smok Tech XL 510 Single Coil Cartomizer - 5 Pack

Boge LR 510 Cartomizer - 5 Pack

If you're buying a KGO, be sure you buy cartomizers, atomizers, etc. that say "510", which is the type of connection between the battery and the carto, atomizer, or whatever you're screwing onto the battery. The KGO uses a 510 connection, which is pretty much the standard these days. If you see "306", "808", etc., those won't work.

Thanks Pappy. I'll check out the links, and familiarize myself with those kits.

Again, finding ECF has saved me allot of heartache, and money. I'd have tried some crappy kit that everyone on the internet raves about, gotten no tH, or Vape, lit a Marlboro, and said, screw it!

I'm telling all of my buddies who are considering vaping to get onto this forum. I sucks that the net is so full of raves for, Blu, GreenSmoke, Prosmoke, and the like. No one recommends the Joyetech.
Pisses me off!

Thanks again guys, and gals!

Can't wait to get my kit!

If you mean by "tank atomizers" the things that you stick on the end of an ego-t or an ego-c, don't bother with them.
Use standard atomizers when you need to test juices. Use cartomizers or clearomizers otherwise.

I feel stupid, (again) for asking, but what is the difference between a standard atomizer, and a cartomizer?
I will order the cartomizers as you suggested, I just don't know the difference.
A standard atomizer is a small tube that contains a heating coil and little else. It needs a way to get juice. Usually a cartridge or "tank" is plugged into the top of it to wick juice to the coil. Ego-C and Ego-T uses special atomizers and an overblown cartridge they call a "tank". This system works slightly better than the old fashioned tiny cartridges everyone abandoned 2 years ago when cartomizers were invented.

A cartomizer contains a heating coil and a filler material, usually polyester batting, to absorb and hold juice. The coil is blanketed in this juice soaked batting. It is a combination of a CARTridge and atOMIZER. Hence the name.

In any kit, you want at least one atomizer. You can just drip juice straight into it for testing purposes. Toss any cartridges that come with it in the trash. For e-cigs like the kGo, you also want 1.7 and/or 2.0ohm cartomizers. You cannot mix juices in the cartomizers, so you will use the atomizer to find juice worthy of using up a cartomizer for.
