so i'm new and that's obvious. i love my cigarettes and don't want to quit. this looks like a good alternative. i know it takes time to get used to it since it's not really the same. i've done a decent amount of research but in the end i am more confused than ever. i think i've picked the pv i want and then i find a lot of negative comments so i move on to another one that looks good and again too many negative things that turn me away. finding out how many different kinds and choices and what not is just overrunning my brain.

this is what i am looking for in my pv

look and feel of a cigarette
comes in black
blue led peferably
starter kit with 2 bats and 2 atty or cartomizers
charge box (not required)
cartridges that can be refilled

the three that i have narrowed down to are the 510, veppo, or the prosmoke. if there is something better than that then let me know. and what is probably the best place online to get one of these.

anyone who responds thank you very much.

I've used the 510, and still have my originals that I bought back in July. It's what got me off the analogs. They're good solid starter units. The main drawback is a short battery life. But it is upgradeable in the future by just adding eGo batteries and a charger. Since you want the cig size, that's the one I'd suggest. But get manual batteries, not auto's. You'll be happier in the long run.

Seriously - Go for an Ego or Riva 510. Basic set-up, great battery life. It's probably the most popular right now, so there are great sales from the registered forum suppliers. And you can get them in black.

It's a little bigger than the "cigarette type", but if you buy the ones that look like cigarettes you'll wind up buying an Ego or a mod so you don't have to deal with charging those little suckers all day.... I was rotating between four of them a day before I realized I would go back to analogs out of frustration if I didn't upgrade.
After the first week, having the "look and feel" of a cig isn't important anymore.
Good luck!!!! I really didn't think I'd ever be able to quit - but it's been FIVE months now. :)

If you want a ciggie sized ecig..go with the 510 I'm also new to ecigs fairly and its a good starter kit
and as someone mentioned also its interchangeable with the exclusion of the charger with the eGo if you want that upgrade later
the battery life isnt great on the standard batteried the mega 510 batteries last about an hour longer
you do spend a bit of time at the charger for sure..so I would suggest either totally wickeds 5 port charger which I'm so glad I found
or they have some 10 port ones..if you have to wait for that charger that comes with the 510 you better have at least 4 extra batteries at hand..thats my suggestion

cignot or electronixnicstix have reasonable prices on kits
another thing to consider..if charge box you mean this PCC..this will not work with mega 510 batteries
hope that helps some

After the first week, having the "look and feel" of a cig isn't important anymore.

Man, that is SO true! New vapers are self-conscious about having the "look" of an analog, (of course analogs are not black with blue embers, but the shape IS familiar) and everybody that I know that has started down this path got over the need to look like a real cig after a week or less...

However, if a person insists on an analog shape, then I feel it's important to get a starter kit that will potentially be compatible with a FatBat like the Ego, or even a Mod.

That being said, the Joye 510 may be a good choice, and it's a pretty good value too...

I'm strange in that I don't find the eGo to be all that enticing... I have a couple that I don't use much at all. I like 14500 mods much better, and the economy of a 14500 mod can work out to be MUCH cheaper than an ego in a relatively short period of time.

But, to answer the OP question, as it was phrased... Go with the 510

Noooo.. do not go with the 510, the KR808D-1 has much better battery life and is hands down the best cig sized PV available, it has awesome cartomizers available now by Boge who make the premium ones and you can use all 510 or any other models accessories with 99 cent adapters from Good Prophets, or if you decide you want to use atomizers you can use those too.

I agree with firefly, go with the kr808 if you really want a cigarette feel while your vaping.
I also agree with everyone else that down the road you will probably be looking at something that looks less like a cig.

Honestly just make sure you get a good price on whatever you order and you probably wont regret it, at best it works for you and you are happy with it, at worst you have a back up pv if you decide to move on to something else.

As you can see the one thing everyone agrees on is the importance of battery life. The small "looks like a cig" PV will frustrate you very quickly. The bigger batteries look like your sucking on a bottle. I suggest the kr808 you can get about 3 hours or more from the battery, they are just a little bigger than a analog, they come in black with a blue LED. I also like the kr808 because they are 2 piece which makes them a bit more discrete than the three piece that you will be opening up all the time to fill from the bottle of juice in your pocket.

wow i didn't think i would get this much response is such little amount of time. thanks everyone.

i have to agree that the batt life is the biggest factor i keep encountering. i did notice the bigger batts and their advantages but still. i like the more analog feel. i don't mind carrying around a couple extra batts. when the weather heats up again in the spring when i go fishing all day for hours will make or break the bigger batts for me. when you say 3 hours per battery is that constant use or couple three times an hour for a few minutes?

i'm going to wait til christmas to purchase because i have been talking about these with my family (we're all smokers) and i can see getting it for the holiday. i still have some more research to do but i am already seeing sounds like the 510 or the KR808D-1 is probably the safest. i am not a rich man by any means these days so i don't want to be stuck with something i hate.

Well first of all, a Joye510 starter kit won't cut it. You'll have to order two, b/c you need back-up parts (especially the spare charger), and the most economical way to do that is to order 2 starter kits. A good price for a 510 starter kit is from $35-40; not sure about the KR808D-1, which is also an excellent choice. Then since the batts have such a short life, you'll need a car charger for on the road and a passthrough (PT) to save on battery life. And then when you go out for happy hour, you'll need a personal charging case (PCC). So those little cigs can be quite pricey in the long run when you start adding up all the acc. you need just to keep them going. I personally love my 510s and still use them around the house even though I have some eGos. If you go with the 510's, you might opt for the XL battery as another poster mentioned. Not sure if the KR808D-1 has the XL batts, but probably so. Good luck on your decision.

Since you love smoking cigarettes so much, don't rush yourself on the transition. Go into it very positively and just alternate cigarettes and vaping. When you find your perfect e-juice, you might find yourself leaning more towards the vaping. I wish you lots of luck in the transition, and welcome to ECF.

The KR808D-1 does have XL batteries and they're 380mah, and 440mah ones are coming into the wild very soon :)
510XL's are only 280mah.

Can somebody give 1 reason to buy a 510 these days ? lol

Hi Firefly,
You know, I still love vaping my 510's, but I'm going on 8 mos of vaping now, and the batts are finally dying. I've heard so many good reviews about the KR808D-1s that I'm tempted to try one out. Who do you recommend as a retailer? I like my eGos also, but I prefer the minis when I vape in public (which is rarely). Please and thank you.

Well I've been vaping for two years now. The first kit i had was a 801 pen style which I still use with some of the same equipment that came with it. I have the 510 manuals now but the batts for me didn't last as long as I wanted. So I got a knockoff ego batt that worked pretty well for about a month now it's not staying charged that long. Now my hubby has the 750 Riva 510 and is really happy with that. It's lasting around 12 hours on a full charge. As juice goes my advice is this don't buy a big amount of cig flavors because once you get used to vaping some of the yummy other flavors the cig juice will just sit there on your shelf. Which if you try and get away for the cig flavors quitting analongs is much easier.

I have the eGo, the 510 and the Kr808. Of the three, the 510 is the closest in size and performance to an actual cigarette. However, the eGo has a much longer battery life and quite honestly, the desire for your e cig to closely resemble a cigarette goes away so quickly that it's almost like throwing money away getting a 510 these days. Most people who get a 510 upgrade to the eGo very soon afterward.

I still use my 510, but my eGo is my go to device. My KR808 is put away in the closet with my Blu.

PS I recently got my first box mod from the classifieds. I have a few things to get ( battery charger...extra batteries ) for it, but its very promising as well.

Hey Smooth....I am brand new to the e-cig, in fact I haven't even ordered mine yet (I'm ordering mine tomorrow) and I totally understand the confusion. I've been online the last 2 weeks researching everything under the sun. I have to agree with the other posters, for us that are just getting into e-cigs "the look" is what drives our ultimate purchase. I have a friend who has been vaping for 14 months, and he told me that after a while, he wouldn't be surprised if I ordered a pink battery with a purple light! Good luck!! :)

although i didn't want to cause a war with this thread i sort of did. it was not my intention. doing a slight amount more research still seems to point to the KR808D-1. that might change. i'm a big fan of compact cool gadgets. so the bigger pvs don't appeal to me. maybe but i will be stubborn about it.

my brand is camel lights. marlboro reds are the god of cigarettes but i can smoke 2+ packs and still not feel satisfied. they taste like candy.

my real thing is about the juice. heard the normal plain cigarette flavor suck. flavors are the way. like i said i am poor but it's far less than the 28 bux i spend on my ryo.

i'm sure there is a thread but i am also ignorant about the what strength of nicotine i should get. i somoke about a pack day of lights usually. i stuff my own with a blend of full flavor with light balli shag. it's amazing. i like flvoring oils when i can afford them. if i am with my family or my other smoker friends especially, i smoke lots more. i don't mind carrying more batts. i want my cigarrette without the guilt. i'm surprised starbucks doesn't have a version that is for the caffiene addicted.

In the land of no hills and red dirt
I've seen a couple of people with 510 carto kits for $10 to $15 available from a local brick and mortar store. Nice little vape, easy and low maintenance for a newbie. I'd suggest one of these and a bottle of juice for refilling to start with, especially if you can buy them locally.

KR808's ain't bad, either.
