Hi everyone,

about 20 years ago I used to smoke about 1 1/2 packs a day of parliament 100s

I quit but sadly still miss smoking and want to give vaping a try, I still love nicotine.

what would be the equivalent of 1 1/2 packs a day with an e cig? I would like to start with disposables and (of course) would want to always have extras on hand.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome,
Where are you located?
Have you visited a local vape shop?
What is your budget?
What nicotine products have you used since quitting smoking?

Cheers

I’m a little confused... did you quit 20 years ago? If so, why would you want the equivalent of 1.5 pad?

I’d say the little pod type vape you're thinking of would be too much nic for you, if you’ve been off it that long. There are some fairly inexpensive and easy to use refillable pods, and you could use a zero nic juice or something very low Nic.

I’m not familiar with those devices but there’s a lot of info on them here.

Hello and welcome!
I would go to the local vape shop to get assistance to choose the nic concentration. I'm not sure there's a unique nicotine strength for all ex-smokers for 1.5 packs.
I guess, it's better to get a MTL device and a juice which can give you a throat hit similar to the sensation when using analog cigs. Don't think about big clouds now, try to vape until your body is satisfied of nic. Not less and not more.
I'm sure you'll be able to win in this bottle and enjoy your vape journey :)

If you're set on disposables, which are very expensive in the long run, I've heard that these are pretty good Fling Original | Fling Disposable E Cigarettes | White Cloud

I think you'd be happier with a simple mod with a rechargeable battery and refillable tank like this JEM/Goby Starter Kit - Innokin

That baffles me, to be honest.

I understand that the entry market for vaping devices probably looks irritatingly crowded to newcomers, but this is 2018, and there's really no need to spend lots of money on throwaway stuff. If it's ease-of-use that you're mainly looking for, I'm sure we can find a device for you that you'll appreciate much more in the long run.

If it's been 20 years and you have not been on nicotine replacement the whole time, you are not looking for the "equivalent" of 1.5 packs per day unless it were 20 years ago.

You are looking for something that would suit a NICOTINE NAIIVE brain, at least to start, although I can say if you take to vaping, your tolerance to increased nicotine may rise more quickly as you start to vape, to your former levels. That may or MAY NOT happen.

I would NOT recommend disposables of high nicotine concentration like the Juul or the Blu, honestly.

Ideally, you could satisfy your nicotine craving with the lowest level of nicotine possible. So that means, if you get an AOI or pod device, you need to get one where you can add your own liquid, and start LOW like 1.5 or 3 mg/ml level. You may want to end up going higher but starting too high and lowering is kind of a recipe for artificially bumping your nic up to as high as you can go, and then lowering and having it be painful along the way.

I think it's good you are asking the question, but you kind of have the opportunity to start at 1.5 mg/ml which is REALLY QUITE low in such a delivery device, but you may wind up satisfied. If you don't it's a lot easier to go higher.

Just... don't forget the 20 years with no nic, at least SOME of your nicotinic receptors must have recovered or died off by now.

With that said, a Juul for example can go as high as 50-59 mg/ml. It's a weak power source sure, but I still got totally dizzy when I took a puff off my son's and I already VAPE 18 mg/ml and was a 3 ppd smoker.

I just hate to see you overdo what you may not need to overdo.

If you really really want to vape, please please don't waste your money on a disposable e-cigarette. Also, seriously consider the value for money of non-refillable pod systems. From the sounds of it you're going to get hooked quickly so don't throw away your money as well, please (please).
Get a normal ecig like the rest of us. Not Juul, not Whitecloud, not Blu. Hateful companies. Certainly don't give your money to tobacco companies.

I have to agree with much of the information above. Also, you may just be missing the manipulation and throat hit of a cig and not the nicotine itself.

I may get grief for this, but for a few dollars more for an initial disposable investment, you could get an inexpensive Revo Twist 1300 mah Starter Kit or similar device then just start with a no-nic e-liquid to see if that satisfies your needs. If it doesn't just slowly adjust your nic levels upward.

Filling the tank takes about as much time as "hand packing" a new pack of cigarettes and simply charge it at night. Do keep in mind that vaping can be a little different than smoking regular cigs. Typically you may want to do a slower "draw" and you may need to hold the vapor in your mouth for a few seconds before inhaling.

Ready for my grief bath now.

if you are wanting a cig-a-like (the ones that look like a cigarette) and you aren't sure yet if you'll like it
skip the disposables and get you a greensmoke kit, this is one of my favorites when I first started as far as cig-a-likes go and they are offering their trial kit again for only $1 ;)

Is it really a safe trial though? Greensmoke and others were often guilty of very risky trials involving credit cards and ignoring customers asking to leave.
They are a greedy and outdated product brand clinging on to life.
Anybody considering them should Google "Greensmoke trial scam" and make up their own mind. They have got lazy, stopped discounts to existing customers and generally display the exact MO of a company that hooks you in and wriggles when you try to leave.
I give them a rating of 1/10 for the product at that price - you can buy all this hardware for cents from China.
I have all these 808 system products for 25% of the Greensmoke price.
