Hey everyone. Im wanting to make my first purchase and Im not really sure which way to go. There are so many options and so many mixed reviews I think Im more confused now then when I first started researching. I have smoked for about 12 years now, I quit in May 2008 and in May 2009 I couldnt take it anymore and started smoking again. I think I would be able to get by with a low level of nicotine if not a non nicotine cartridge. Just being able to go through the motions would make me happy. Basically Im looking for something that has decent battery life and produces a good amount of vapor. I dont need alot of throat hit. I drive a truck so I can recharge at work but I need something that is dependable. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Also it seems like a 2 piece setup would be the easiest but if a 3 piece has better functionality then I would go with it. I would prefer a model thats close to the size of an analog and Im willing to spend the money for something of quality. Thanks everyone! :2cool:

Welcome to the forums Yo!
I've been vaping for a little bit over two weeks now. I made some mistakes in the beginning. Namely not doing what you are currently doing, I didn't research.
I ended up spending over two hundred dollars on two kits, one for myself, and one for the wife.
The kit is called a Joye 510 Mega. I bought it for $70.00 each.
Most of the kits come with two of everything, so you get two batteries, two atomizers, one charger, and a handful of empty, or full cartridges to go in it. After using this set up for a couple of days I realized that it wasn't enough of a battery life for me.
I smoked over 3 PAD on a bad day I could get up to 5. Those batteries lasted for 1-2 hours of ke chain vaping, however by the time I was through with the first battery, the second one would be fully charged. My wife can make hers last for 6 hours. She hardly ever vapes. The benefit of the Joye 510's (there are two models, the short one, and the extra long one that I bought the MEGA) is that they LOOK similar to a cigarette. Same shape around from one end to the other. So if that look is important for you, then that would be the way to go, and you being a driver, you have tons of outlets within arms reach to have one battery charging, while you are using the other.
For me though, I don't have that luxury (that's how I spent so much in the beginning, I bought LOTS of spare batteries), so after actually doing some research I found that what I NEEDED was a Joye Ego (there are also clones of this model, and that's what I purchased). The ego kit is around $70, as I said I bought a clone kit for $30 (you can go to liberty flights.com and in the top left hand corner there is a button that says 20% off, click that before shopping) they have a kit called the Riva 510, that's what I settled on, and am LOVING IT. It's $29.99 for the kit after you push that button, and as I said you get two of everything. The Riva is actually superior to the one that it is moddeled after (Joye ego) it has a slightly larger battery. For me I can get 8+ hours of use out of it before it needs a charge, but as I said, there is another battery, so that can be charging when you're using that first one.
Now about the two piece part. There is something called a "cartomizer" that you can buy as well. That piece containes the atomizer, and the cartridge in one piece. They are usually sold in 5 packs. There are lots of people who absouloutly love them, you can fill them up when you're on your DOT, and just swap them out as you're going down the road. No bottles to worry about. Personally, I don't use them. There is something new on the market as well that I just ordered. It's called themJoye Ego Tank. As the name implies, it actually has a see through tank that holds your juice, and drips it down as needed. When one tank is empty, you pull it out, and push another one on that you have pre filled before you get to driving in the morning. But as I said, mine is on order, and I haven't used it yet. But in theory it seems to me that it is far superior to the cartomizer's that I mentioned before.
Sorry to be so long winded, but as I said I made the mistake of not researching anything before, so I try to when I can let anyone new know the mistakes that I feel that I made, and the decisions that I wish I had made from the start.
Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

i went with the 510 first, as it seems as the most standardized universal setup, due to battery time i went to the 510 riva shortly after, then i went all diy mods. 510s are cheap but they burnout too quickly but they do resemble the physical appearance of the cigarette. rivas are a bit fatter but the battery life is well worth it. diy mods are awesome if you are hooked and on a day off from work you want to vape non-stop for twelve hours straight. i'd say take a look at the joye ego/510 riva as the best off the shelf unit to buy for starting.

There is an ego-650 passthrough that you can charge while driving. Wal-mart sells a cigarette usb port(plugs into cigarette outlet and is under $10) and vape while you drive without having to stop to charge. Then, when not in the truck, just unplug it and it will still work for about 5-6 hours before needing a charge.

p.s/\. Liberty-flights carries these also. Click on ego passthroughs. Don't forget to click the 20% off. You can also type in 'ecf' without the quotes if you forget to click the 20% link.

The nice thing for me about going from a 510 to a Riva 510 is that all the parts are interchangeable. I still use those 510 batteries at times, but mostly use my 750 mAh Riva batteries. You could try the 3 piece system and if it's not for you get some cartomizers for the same units. There's also the new "tank" systems which also work on the same batteries. Basically, you've got tons of options if you go with the eGo or similar unit.

Makes sure if you get a passthrough and plan on using it in the truck, you get a usb adapter with enough amps. A lot of people suggest a 2 amp USB lighter adapter for using passthroughs. Also you might want to think about using an eGo-T. Less fussing around and the tanks will last you longer before having to switch anything out. They are also MUCH easier to try to swap out on the road than a traditional cartridge. You could also use cartomizers which are easy enough to swap, but the tanks for the eGo-T hold more juice.

I think you made a good choice, you can pre-fill a few tanks, and keep them on hand so you don't have to fuss while you are driving. With 2 batteries, you can keep a charger plugged in your truck and just swap them when you need to. I just got my ego-T atty and tank today, and so far it was just plug, fill and go. You will need to wash the nasty primer out of the atomizer when you get it. I just ran mine under a hot tap for a couple of minutes, blew out the remaining water with the connection side in my mouth, shook it a few times to be sure the water was out, then put my full tank on. Give it a couple of stiff draws with out activating the button, then you should get good vapor in a hit or two. I hope it all works out for you!
