Check for oxidation and pitting on the battery, I vape at 1 ohm and don't notice it.

When electricity moves through something resistance to that movement robs power and since no energy is ever lost it is converted to heat.

So either a bad contact is raising resistance from partial contact or from a build up of oxidation. Or the internal resistance of the battery is climbing do to age, over charging or over draining of the battery.

For the vtc5's I pull them in the 3.8 range and the aw's 3.7 range and I only get a half day out of a battery.

I just checked the vtc5's and the bottom of the batts look like they are slightly dented. Aw's look fine.

Is that a NiteCore that's denting the batteries? (Been known to happen. Spring tension on a run of them is way too high.)

No one asked yet: Are these the original contacts or the upgraded parts?

What's your maintenance situation? Last time you cleaned the battery positive contact and applied Noalox?

Unscrewed the battery spring, cleaned under there, applied Noalox to the spring screw threads area?

All I got...

If you're using a button cap, there's a possibility that the cap is bottoming out on the top of the Reo, either before, or at the same time as the switch is making good contact with the battery. From what I've read on other forums, the total length of the VTC5s isn't always consistent. If you have one that's just a fraction of a millimeter short, this could happen. I had a bit of pitting on one of mine, so I immediately stopped using them in my Reos. The Reos were designed for button top batteries, and I find they work much better. I vape dual coils at around .5 ohms. I'm currently using AW 1600 mah and Purple Efest 2100s. I'd rather put up with a little shorter battery time than pitted contacts or warm batteries.

All good suggestions above.

Are you getting through the same amount of juice that you normally would per battery change? If you are not, I would consider that to be "alarm bells" - be careful. Less juice consumption and warm batteries = partial short in the atty or mod.

Have you checked the atty resistance lately? Or do you have another atty you can try for troubleshooting purposes? I don't like the sound of this since its happening to the VTC5's and the AW IMR's.

I would definitely check the atty and mod resistance, if nothing else can be found by inspecting everything, fire button, lower spring, upper leaf spring and contact. Make sure the insulation on the leaf spring is intact as it can otherwise short out on the screw for the delrin cover. Remove the upper delrin cover and have a good look around. It doesn't sound safe to vape it to me, until a cause has been found.

No, I have an xtar charger. I have the upgraded parts I think, I've only had it for a few months and I cleaned the contacts with alcohol last week but I haven't removed the battery spring and cleaned. I'll do that tonight.

I'm going to buy more aw's and retire the vtc5'.

My vtc5's are longer than the aw's and they are a tight fit in the REO. I won't be using the vtc5's anymore. From what I've read everyone likes them and they're not having any issues with them. I only have 2 of and I really like them but they both have pitting and get warm when vaping.

I don't know that this has anything to do with the issue but I quit using my Xtar Vp1 because of the indentations it was causing in my batteries. I went back to my tried and true Pila charger. Like I said, this is probably totally unrelated to your problem but...just my 2 cents worth.
