I don't have one but I've just read the thread 'istick 50 watt exploded'. I don't know if the 30 watt devices have the same issues.
With the 50 watt istick there seem to be two issues. The mod sometimes auto-fires and the only way to stop it is take the atty off, or the built in charger does not stop charging and the battery can explode. As far as I know these things can happen to undamaged (meaning not dropped or otherwise damaged by the user) isticks.
If I had one and used it I would take the atty off when I was not close enough to it to hear if it auto-fired. As for charging, I never charge any batteries when I'm not here and awake. With this device I would also charge it in a Li-po bag like this one. For $3 bucks it will contain an explosion and avoid a fire. The only drawback is you can't tell if the charge is complete without taking it out of the bag, but if the outside of the bag is not warm where the device is I expect it would be safe to open it. If the outside of the bag ever got hot, I would unplug it from the wall and leave it alone until it becomes cool.
Hmmm. I guess I'll just be happy with my nonexistent connector issues on my istick20.

I've had the Istick 50 for a little almost two weeks now and no issues doesn't get hot while using or charging so far only thing I can say negatively about it is you have to hold the fire button tight or it stops other than that it's a great mod
Not many problems with the 30W. Most problems are with the 50W. I have a 50w for 3 weeks now and not a single problem. Chain vaping.
Had my 50w for quite a while and hammered it use wise can go through the battery in eight hours and it hasn't skipped a beat cannot fault it.

Had to tempt fate didn't I just started using mine after charging rested it for an hour and a half after charging and one vape and it switched to volts thought maybe I'd been heavy fingered so three clicked back to watts and it reading 24 watts when I always lock it at 20w so it's added four watts on it's own .

I've been considering one of these for a while, but have been hesitant to buy one due to the auto-fire problems a lot of them seem to have. That thread there convinced me not to even consider it anymore. If I owned a vape shop I wouldn't even stock them after seeing what that one did to his room. The liability issues are huge. I can't believe he was satisfied with simply accepting a replacement.
Despite my recent problem I would have another istick50 I really hit my hardware hard and the istick has up to today (which might just be a glitch) been faultless, unless we have the figures on how many have been sold we can't really judge if this is as bad a problem as it might look. I'm not about to go into worry mode about the istick just yet as I'd imagine they have sold a lot of units and failures are not popping up everyday. People just need to exercise a degree of caution with anything battery related and 99% of people will never have a problem.
I"ve had the Istick50 for a little over a month now, with no problems. Once in a while it'll change from watts to volts or vice versa but that is no big deal at all, doesn't affect the vape in any way. I think it's a small minority of units that have had problems, as others have said. I'm not trying to minimize the problems but I don't think they are very widespread. I'd have little hesitation to buy another if the need arose. I do plan to start being more careful about charging it and such, as I tend to just plug it in and leave it overnight. Maybe not a good idea, I guess.
