You clicked that?! What are ya, a masochist?! OK, here goes!

Here are the steps I'm planning on taking now. Would appreciate verbal smacks over the head for dumb steps, please!

1. Rinse out all the labware and bottles with Isopropyl Alcohol.
2. Divvie up the nic into glass bottles; LABEL THE BOTTLES. Put one bottle in the fridge, put the rest in the freezer.
3. Study the ejuice Calculator v14.
4. Repeat #3.
5. Mix up one very small unflavored batch to test the nic at my target 18mg, 50-50. Taste to make sure the nic's not funky.
6. Mix up an unflavored batch at 15-20% over 18mg, or approx. 20mg.
7. Realize that getting 20mg outta 48mg nic will require math skills. Kick the crap outta myself for not buying 100mg nic.
8. Repeat #3.
9. Decide on the simplest possible recipe and add something bizarre to it. I'm thinking Peppermint Jalapeno Brownies.
10. Repeat #3.
11. Decant unflavored mix into 12ml bottle; add flavoring. Write down the recipe!!
12. Genuflect.
13. Place bottle in a hot water bath for ??? <---- this is where I need some help!
14. Realize I just invented toe jam flavored juice. :toast:
15. Cheer, party, vape.

14. stumble over a recipe that you realize you have everything but one flavoring for, and go to WL site to order it. Notice that your get free shipping on orders over $65.00 and decide what the heck, I can certainly use 45 more little bottles of these flavors - I mean, free shipping is not to be turned down!!

Welcome to my world... Enjoy!!

Soap and water is fine to clean your bottles and equipment. We're not in a lab situation here and rubbing alcohol isn't something I'd want getting in my vape.

Start lower than 15-20% and work up. Maybe 7-10% depending on the flavoring and manufacturer. There's a fine line between good flavor and too much. Too much can taste like not enough flavor.

Good thought on tasting the base plain. It should have good throat hit at 18mg and no flavor other than a light sweetness. The nic will give a little peppery flavor and throat scratch to varying degrees depending on the nic quality. Real good nic like vaper teks UK sourced nic is especially clean tasting and gives less throat hit

Try your flavorings individually. Going all out and trying to make crazy mixes right off the bat is a lesson in frustration and waste. I know this from experience. Get some mint or menthol and put it in your failed mixes. This can make them somewhat vapable.

Most of all enjoy the savings and fun. Oh, put clear packing tape on your syringe markings. Drippings of glycol and glycerin will wear them off quickly

one last thing, try different flavor vendors. Not everything that a vendor has is going to be good. one vendor might make a good vanilla but a bad peach and the other may have great fruits but not so good bakery flavors.

Thanks for the great tips, Sub!!

I'm trying flavorings at 10%; I got the 15-20% number from another poster, thinking it was some new math thing... lol. I tried my first flavored batch last night--apple pie--and it was kinda nasty. Plain, blah, and slightly soapy, even after steeping for a few hours. Added a few drops of peach and maraschino cherry and re-steeped, and it's better this morning, but still very understated. I guess I need to spend some time on the recipe threads! I think I'll take your advice and add a few drops of peppermint and cross my fingers. :)

I like that you did this BEFORE Attempting any Flavor Mixing or Putting I away for Long Term Storage.

As for Q. 13, see Post #4

How Much Sweetener Did you Use?

My Grandmother would Turn Over in her Grave if she Knew that one of Her Descendants tried to make an Apple Pie without adding Sugar.

Why would DIY be Any Different?

One drop of liquid Sweetleaf Stevia in ~10ml. Adding the cherry and peach helped a bit, and am leaning toward adding another drop of the Stevia. I'm doing this sloooooooooooooooow... :) It's a lot easier than baking a whole pie only to realize I left out the sugar!

If you Chant this Mantra while Doing DIY I think you will do Just Fine.

It's those Wild Swings while Adding Flavorings. Or not letting a Mix sit for a Couple of Days that Reeks Havoc when trying to Nail Down a New Recipe.

Keep Us Updated.

BTW - Sucralose Sweeteners Don't need any Steeping Time. Just Add, Shake and Vape.

Let your liquids sit for a week and let them air out with the cap off for a day initially before you try tweaking them. Fruits can sometimes be good within a day but something like apple pie with the crust taste takes a while. A lot of that perfume or chemical taste will dissipate. A nice quick steep method that works in the hot months is to leave your bottles in the glove box of your car all day at work.
