Then I started reading about bottom feeders, and can't decide between the Reo or the Provari (wish I could afford both!).

Both meet several needs in that they are durable devices (broken a bunch of mods, most recently my MVP), don't leak (I've had good luck with my Viva Nova's), and are pocketable.

Provari has the advantage of consistent output. I am using a Provape 1 and the drop off bothers me. I assume the larger battery will have a longer power band than the 14500 in the Provape, does that sound correct?

Reo has the advantage of being as close as you can get to dripping without the mess and hassle, which supposedly gives the best vape. While easy to use, the Viva Nova flavor does seem muted, bottom coils are too cool for me. I liked my MVP and the Viva Nova, but did not love it, so a better vape is certainly attractive.

Both are stretching my budget a bit due to some car issues, so getting for the VV Grand would be tough. Also a bunch of money to drop if I don't like the bottom fed mod, and might be a little large to carry around.

I guess a third option would be get a VMOD and another MVP (supposedly they have fixed the USB port breaking off so easily) , spend the next few months deciding which I prefer as I start saving again.

Too many decisions, frustrating :)

Any thoughts appreciated!

I have both type of mods as well. I like my provari best because I like using a carto tank setup better than having to squonk the bottle on my bottom feeder. But if I were strictly using an atomizer than the bottom feeder would be my choice. Either one I would recomend the variable voltage option. You might want to watch the classifieds and be able to afford one of each that way. Good luck.

I have two Provari's, a blue regular and a black mini. I recently purchased the Vapage VMod-XL bottom feeder. I'll try to equate my experience with the VMod with what a Reo should be like.

I like all three for different reasons. The Provari's get 90% of my attention as I use them with RBA's at home and IBTanked pyrex cartotanks for on-the-go. I change voltage frequently depending upon the flavor I'm using, and will typically switch flavors 3 - 4 times a day, so having the ability to change voltage on-the-fly is extremely convenient.

The Mini is extremely portable and pocket-friendly, the regular size not so much, but doable. My regular Provari is most often used in the 18650 mode, which allows me an all day vape without changing batteries. If only using the mini, I need to keep a spare battery with me as one only gives me 7 - 8 hours use.

I'm still learning the feed techique of the VMod; there's a slight learning curve to this. It's extremely pocket-friendly as well, but it is not as durable as a Reo would be. The single voltage is only somewhat annoying so far, but being able to choose only one flavor for it's built-in tank is a bit of a drag. There are two versions of the Vmod; a smaller size uses a 14500 battery and my XL uses an 18650. The Reo offers the same battery size options.

You might notice a battery drop off in a Reo or similar bottom feeder. The Provari is a regulated mod with computer microcircuitry and patented Acuset Technology, so you will get the same output at the end of the battery life as you would when you first put it in. The Provari is loaded with safety features that a bottom feeder won't have, and has a built-in atomizer and voltage reader which come in quite handy.

The Provari's will provide you with options of battery size, and resulting longer use between battery changes. Both the regular and mini have battery extension caps to jump up one battery size available from Provape. There are aftermarket companies that sell extension rings that allow you to jump up two battery sizes with the mini. This would give you the option of three different battery sizes for the mini.

I believe the Reo has a lifetime guarantee. Provari gives you one year, the option to purchase a second year, and after the warranty expires you can continue to have it serviced/repaired for reasonable/already established fees. Turnaround for repairs is typically one week.

Both the Reo and Provari's durability and customer service are legendary. You can't go wrong with either one in these categories.

Hopefully this gives additional perspective for you. You might consider getting a Provari and a VMod to have both types of mod.

Thanks, this has been really helpful. I liked the iclears, except both of the 16's I had had issues with separation between the metal base and tank, which caused leaking.

Leaning towards getting the mini. Just switched batteries on my Provape, and the difference is staggering, the consistency is a huge plus. I'll give dripping a shot on the Provari, and if the improvement in vape is worth it, will look hard at a Reo or VMOD, particularly if they have another of those 50% sales!

Very good post, but I would like to chime in on this part...

You can get variable voltage Reos, although they are bigger.
And you can drip a different flavor anytime you want, despite the fact that you have one flavor in the squonk tank.
:)

i just dont see the point in dropping the cash on a provari. especially because it only does volts. i understand its a constant signal and doesn't droop, but i have tried peoples provaris and compared it with my vamo or svd and i cant see a difference, vapes the same to me. i say get a svd or something along those lines and you will be able to afford the bottom feeder too. provari is all brand hype IMHO.

I've got both, along with a lot of other mods. Since getting my Reo Mini 2.1 the Provari mini has mainly been used to check resistance on the RBA for the Reo. With RBAs the VV Reo isn't needed. If you check out the micro-coil threads in RBA or Reo section you'll see guys are getting awesome results with them. My Reo goes everywhere with me. Sometimes I'll take another setup or two for different juices. I'm seriously considering getting another Reo and getting rid of most of my other gear. Here are some of the ones I've got.

I have both provari's and Reo VVG's and I like them both I like the provari because I can slip it in my back pocket when I'm running around at work but the VVG is bottom fed and that is a great feature the only thing i don't like about the VVG is the stacked batteries though 1 set will last me all day of heavy vaping. sorry I'm no help they are both good PVs
