I smoked regular cigarettes for 12 years. On July 2nd I received my first ecig in the mail. I pretty much instantly fell in love with vaping. I had half a pack of analogs left open when it got it. I finished that last pack of cigs on Tuesday and haven't even had the desire to open another one since.

Now my dad has been a smoker for like 30+ years. He tried my ecig and decided to order one for himself too. I am really hoping the ecig does it for him like it has done for me so far.

For those of you that have smoked for as long as my dad has i was wondering how successful you have been with quitting or cutting back on your analog smoking?

20+ years of 2.5 packs a day ended the second I picked up a penstyle a friend loaned me. I soon realized the penstyle with its size and weight (and auto battery) just weren't quite what I needed so I got a 510 and while occasionally it just gets so fiddly that I want an analog just to spite the blasted thing I haven't seriously craved a tobacco hit yet.

I had to use some noticeable willpower to keep from crumbling at key trigger times. Namely the first thing in the morning and after meals. The worst was the after lunch smoke. It took about 6 weeks of no cigs before the dreaded 'after lunch' craving stopped. I kept telling myself, 'this is my brand now', and would just puff away on the e-cig for 30-45 minutes until the craving went away.

Because of that experience I can understand why some people still have to smoke a few cigs per day. I think many of them simply don't have low enough nicotine juice in their arsenal to be able to puff for 30+ minutes non-stop. Basically, if you think it might be a battle, bring all the different ammo you can find:)

Main thing with long time smokers can be to just vape............no worry about quitting.. I smoked 2-3 packs for 20 years and bought an e-cig to smoke more. Within 3 days was down to 1-2 cigs. It just taste's better. When someone is struggling with quitting, they can just keep vaping until the analog's taste like the cat's .....

I didn't quit.... nicotine. But to answer your question, yes... pretty easy. I'm amazed. I'd be the last person I thought would quit cigarettes. I loved them and didn't want or intend to quit even when I got the ecig. I still might have one but I haven't so far, and while it's kind of hard not to know when I had my last one, I'm not really counting.

I always swore I'd only quit the day they nailed my coffin shut and that my family better bury me with a pack and a lighter :). Smoked 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for 23 years. Went outside within hours of both c-sections (though I cut back to about 10 cigs a day when pregnant since they said the stress of quiting would be worse for babies than a few cigs a day)to smoke, smoked thru pneumonia, and would drive an hour to get to another state to go to a bar when they banned smoking in bars in the state I lived in. The minute I got my 901 was the last time I smoked an analog. I have a pack in the freezer for an end of the world emergency if all of my equipment dies, but I'm hoping that will never happen because the thought of an analog kinda makes my stomach turn. And the fun of mixing flavors based on my mood is so much more fun than smoking analogs could ever be.

8-oWoah. I smoked a pack a day for 16 years. Never wasn't able to go a whole day without smoking if I had to (wouldn't be happy about it, but still). What was driving this for you? I can't imagine just the craving for nicotine driving someone to smoke through pregnancy. It's just not THAT hard. I'm not knocking you, I just don't understand this. It sounds like the addiction ran deeper than nicotine or the general habit.

For me it was 4-5 packs a day for 41 years. Received my first e-cig April 30th (single battery model) and found I was satisfied using it as long as my battery held up. I immediately ordered more. May 18th my 2nd shipment arrived and I haven't touched an analog since. I find myself vaping more and more with 0mg, but sometimes like today I really had a bad urge to try an analog. I broke out some of my 36mg (I usually cut to 12mg) and took a few hits with the full 36 - settled me down quickly and I'm back to happy again. :)

Just hit my 4 month anniversary, here.... The day I got my first 901 in the mail was the last time I wanted tobacco. Didn't need a single ounce of willpower.

I love my vapor.

Exactly the same for me..........

You are an especially flattering shade of green this evening Vicks...............

I took three drags off my first e-cig (vx2 from litecig) and threw my half a pack of American Spirits into the trash. That's how sure I was. A week or so later when I got my first Janty Stick, that's when I knew for sure I'd never smoke a cigarette again, and I haven't. Almost two months later, there's no doubt in my mind I'm free of tobacco forever. This is simply better than smoking. It's higher tech, more healthy, better tasting, and more rewarding, and almost cheaper. I've been spendy with PV's. Waiting on a Prodigy V1 and two PS PT's to get here now. I'm *ALMOST* breaking even. I was smoking 12 bucks of smokes a day though...
