I hear you. Problem is, more people give advice than should. From someone with limited experience but happy to share, to someone who thinks everyone should start with a $250 mod. What you have will work fine, start a new thread with specific questions now that you know enough to know what to ask.

"This is what I have, this is where I'm struggling, tips and trick to get the most out of this gear?"

That. ^

Thank you, eHuman! :)

I use the ego c twist, with a vision vivi nova 2ml tank, tank cost 12 bucks in Canada, I use the 1.8 ohm head in it, they cost 1.50 for replacements and last about a month or more, The battery was 15 if I remember lol. My vv is set at 3.8 at moment, real nice TH, nice vapor which is not a priority for me but TH is, and just love it, takes about 4 hours to charge, so I have 2. Battery lasts me about 1 day and I Vape very often, hope this helps u Dave triple O.

I hear that!

A Provari is a Variable Voltage device. It uses rechargeable li-ion batteries that can last you well into a day and a half of consistent vaping. It's of sturdy, American-made construction, with no "compromised" or "cheap" components. It's rather pricey, and many have had to save up for the device. I was only able to purchase one because I had a pretty decent tax return.

It's worth a little research, if you're interested. Just type "Provari" into Youtube. One thing, I can guarantee, there is hardly a single person who owns a Provari who ever regretted their purchase.

I have only been vaping for a little over a month and it has been a lot of trial and error. The cost savings in the long run should more than balance out some "experimental" purchases in the beginning. I started out with a ego twist ($30) and it has allowed me to mess around with different voltages to see what type of tanks fit my style. Play around a little bit, there is a wide variety of reasonable priced (about the price of a pack of smokes) that will allow you to find what works for you. For me it has become a hobby not just a smoking cessation device and has put me in contact with a lot of really helpful, like minded, people. Staying off cigarettes is obviously paramount so don't get too frustrated, and keep trying new things because there is no one right answer for what is going to work for everyone.

I think the best battery for starters would be the ego-c upgrade simply because is just $2-$3 more and it has the best future; it shows u how much battery you have left, so you don't have to carry a second one for just incase or end up without a smoke... we all know what that leads to.... a quick stop at 7-eleven lol

+2 on that! Dave, the problem with "telling" you what to buy isn't possible. You can tell from the amount of info (and differing opinions & experiences) that there is no one size fits all solution. Unfortunately, there is a learning curve to vaping, and you'll likely buy more than one thing that doesn't work for you. I know I spent quite a bit on juice before I found some I like. That's why we have the classifieds, and you'll hear us refer to paying it forward by giving our unused stuff to new vapers. I'm glad you're sticking with figuring out your new kit, and you're definetely in the right place to get the help you need! Just keep reading & asking questions. You'll be surprised at how quickly you become a pro.

Now, to answer your question about the Provari (and other expensive mods), it's sort of like an expensive, well made pair of shoes. You can spend a lot less and still get the job done, but if you've ever worn a really well made pair, you'll might notice they feel better and last longer. It doesn't mean you MUST own them, and some people really can't tell a difference. It's a matter of personal taste.

We're all glad your still with us, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of opportunities for spirited debate. Like I said before, this place is FULL of opinions.

Good Morning Dave__000, sounds like this thread is getting back on track to possibly helping you. The amount of information available can be overwhelming. You said "frustration trying to figure out how it will smoke the best (owner's manual is not much help)." in regards to your eGo-t. I still use the eGo-t at work everyday. Since the eGo is a fixed voltage device and the tank system provided with the kit is a bit dodgy, I suggest that you upgrade the delivery device. There are lots of options that will give you an improved experience. My suggestion would be a low-resistance (1.8 - 2.0 ohm) Kanger T-2 type clearomizer (T-3, vision ce5, vivi nova). There are many other options you can research but this style match up nicely with the eGo-t for simplicity and cost effectiveness. The next step is e-liquid.... If you are hacked about being overwhelmed by hardware purchases, oh boy... lol.

Wow, I missed all of this? At least it's mellowed now.

It can really suck in the beginning, trying to figure it all out. I wasted money on not one, but two, lame-... kits. Nonetheless, I stuck in there and kept at it, after doing more research. I'm still researching and rocking the trial-and-error process; I'm into stuff like that.

I didn't have very good luck with the eGo C or T set-ups, but I do like eGo batteries. Anything with a 510 works on them and the possibilities of set-ups are numerous. I've moved on a bit from that, but still use them frequently, and they're awesome as a back-up. Not everything worked, but I don't consider it to be wasted money. Experience itself is a good return on stuff like that.

What I tend to do now is check out what everyone is talking about here and weighing their experiences before forking out my hard-earned cash. (I find Phil Busardo and GrimmGreen very insightful as well.) I've found this method to be much more cost-effective and my latest investments have been sound as a result. If I make a bad call along the line, it's on me, not anyone else.

Right now I'm rockin' the Vamo and Vivi Novas based on what I've found by doing actual research, most of it here. (Thanks, ECF!) I'm looking forward to the day when I pull the trigger and get a Provari, not to mention other goodies that seem to work well for most hardcore vapers.

In summary, I've found the community here at ECF to be both friendly and helpful and wish I'd joined when I first got started.

My first kit was a high dollar greensmoke kit. I bought into their claim that one cart was like a pack of smokes. 1 battery and 1/2 the carts showed up DOA (literally 1/2 of the kit). They sent a new battery and more carts free. I used them for a few days, long enough for another battery to die and to realize that a cart was more like 2-3 cigs at best, but also to know that there was something to vaping, it had potential to work, if only the gear were better than this...

I found ECF while fumbling with the greensmoke, started wading through the insurmountable wall of information and came to the conclusion that I had 2 choices, a 510 or a kr808 cig-a-like. I placed an order at V4L for their biggest kit plus some extras, and sent my greensmoke back for a full refund. (50% of my original investment back in my pocket, with better gear in hand). Back on analogs while waiting, I was smoke free in two days after receiving my kr808s. (Bonus x10,000, I was only hoping to cut back). 31 year 1.5PAD habit, tried all the methods and prescriptions to quit, I had already given up hope on quitting. Had to buy more batteries for rotation, an extra charger to keep up, and lots of pre-filled and empty carts, but I was smoke free.

Lots of money spend on cheap stuff since 4 808 batteries in rotation wasn't fun, a handful of 808 to 510 adapters to try dripping ended up in the dead bones pile with .... inserts, 2 box mods and 3 VV box mods, 2 tube mods that each worked for no more than 2 months tops, It has been an adventure.

You are entering the world of vaping in a better time than some of us. "When I was young I had to walk 20 miles barefoot in the snow uphill both ways to get to school"...

You may never know how fortunate you have it to have the twist available as your starting point into vaping. As you move past it you may look back on it like, "I started with that POS..."

Some of us started with the equivalent of a piece of flint and steel and some nicotine soaked nylon rope.

What perspective can we both share? We are both smoke free. We will always have something to complain about if we want to, but look at the bright side, a bad day vaping is better than a good day smoking.

Now I have a few good mods, plenty of good quality batteries, 8 RBAs, enough wick and wire to last 5 years, and DIY my own juice at the cost of 20¢ per day to cover both my wife and I. I literally can spend under $300 per year now re-supplying consumables and buying 1 new mod per year. Life is good.

Someone sounds bitter, why even register just to put everyone and everything down. Reads like a troll.

I think that's a little unfair.

After all, it isn't like Dave_000 is some newbie... he's tried TWO different systems!

And you have a "problem" with him dispensing advise?!?

All free!!! Going back to 808's...thanks Dave!!!

I am way late to this party...but this has to be my all time fav :vapor:

i'd just like to add, this whole thing is trial and error. i've got stuff that i no longer use, gave most of it away to help out new vapers but overall i'm still saving money somehow. make a vaping budget and try new things and don't worry about if it is awesome or not if anything it'll just become a nice backup or something a new vaper might enjoy.

if you are ever thinking about getting something new and are unsure about it, ask on this forum and people will let you know if it's a good choice or not

Well, glad to see this thread bock on a positive track. Welcome back, OP. Sorry to hear your frustrations and that you possibly got a dud that left you with such a bad first impression. Almost everyone here will give nothing but the most positive reviews of the eGo T. I can't speak for them as I have never tried them, but if I was to get another smaller model, I'd certainly make it my next purchase. Like I said, perhaps you got a dud or a knockoff.

I have tried Green Smoke and was quite happy with what I got from them, but the product is quite expensive comparably and after a while, the cig-a-likes just didn't do it for me. And if I moved from a good cig-a-like to a bad, more advanced model, it'd leave a bad taste in my mouth as well.

But don't give up. We're here to guide anyone towards good products and good vendors who can get you on a track to the most advanced vaporizers sure to blow your lungs out with the biggest vapes. There just might be some trial and error and many of us have spent money we wish we hadn't in pursuit of our vaping happy places. But we'll get there. All the best to ya.

Stupidly bought one of the "high-dollar" e-cigs. Don't waste your money. My cheapo E cig that I can refill cartomizers (never worry about one burning up because they're so cheap) work great, smoke great, taste great, and produce way more "smoke" than the high-dollar, high maintenance piece of hype that I wasted $70 on.
I can say that it wasn't a Provari :D

I wonder what he bought.....My advice to a Noob......Buy a Provari

Speaking from "ignorance" about this, what exactly makes these so much better?

Dave,

Once you read, study and learn......as we all had to do....it really boils down to 2 pieces for your system: Power and Delivery.

Take your Green Smoke....Power is the rechargeable battery and Delivery is the disposable cartomizers. You can't change either one, you get what they give you.

The ProVari is the Cadillac of Power supplies.....it is rechargeable, variable voltage/wattage from 3-6 volts. Really super nice. Compared to that little battery for your Green Smoke.......well, no comparison.

Why do you want this?

Because of the Delivery system. When you shop and look, at all the various systems like Vision CE4, Kanger T3, ViVi Nova...etc, there are so many.....notice that they come in different resistances....from 1.2 ohms to 2.8 and beyond. You want to provide the proper power to the resistance. If your power is too low and resistance too high, the vapor will be weak or non existant. If the power is too high and resistance too low, you could burn out the coil.

For Example......I have an eGo 900mAh battery.....it puts out 3.5 to 3.7 volts, non adjustable. If I use a 3.0 ohm clearomizer (or whatever), the vapor won't be all that great or maybe none at all......BUT, if I had a ProVari (or any other variable voltage Power) I could dial that puppy up to 4.3 or 4.4 and produce clouds of vapor.

So, if you invest in a ProVari, Vamo, or any other Variable Voltage Power....then you open a world of cartos, clearos, tanks and what have you that you can use or try...in various resistances....and dial in the power to that perfect level of vapor you want.

A fool and his money are soon parted

Meaning

Literal meaning.

Origin

This is quite an early proverb in the English language and, as such, might be thought to contain the wisdom of the ancients. The notion was known by the late 16th century, when it was expressed in rhyme by Thomas Tusser in Five Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie, 1573:

A foole & his money,
be soone at debate:
which after with sorow,
repents him to late.
