I'm looking to upgrade to some type of apv. I want to sub ohm so I know I need a device that can fire at least at a .5 level. But how high of wattage do I need 20 30 50w? Also I plan on using a sub ohm tank but would like to start getting into dripping.

With that being said should I look for something that is vv vw or just worry about finding something that is just variable wattage? I ask because when searching the price point changes dramatically between something that is vv vw and something that is only vw thanks for any help.

If you are going 0.5ohms on the coils, what mods that can fire that don't offer both a VV and a VW setting? (some IPVs, perhaps?)

and yes, 30w is probably the minimum, not because you need 30w, but because there are almost no mods that can fire 0.5ohms that would offer 'only' 20w.

Maybe you can tell us what you're looking at.... it's very confusing....

He's confused because it's confusing and manufacturers don't help it much. :) e.g., he sees VV and VW and assumes if they are listed different they must be, which they are but at the same time not really. It may be that some are only advertising VW partially because it's confusing to newbs buying them when they include both terms/modes.

VV is you telling the mod to fire at a specific voltage. VW is you telling it to use a certain amount of power, and adjust how much voltage that'll be for what atomizer you're using. So it'll use more or less current depending on the Ohms of your atomizer. e.g., a mechanical mod dumps out all the voltage it can. In VV mode, the mod puts out the voltage you tell it to. In VW mode, the mod puts out the *power* you tell it to, and adjusts how much voltage it uses depending on the Ohms of the atomizer. Lower Ohms for the same voltage equals more watts. For the most part, VW is simply a convenience thing it's nowhere near the leap that VV was, but you'll notice no difference if for some reason it only includes VW and not VV; you'll still be dialing it the sweet spot for taste etc.

Ohms law (as we use it) is a circle divided into 4 parts, so there are always three ways to get from point A to point B. Which of the three you would choose to use makes no actual difference. So it's nothing more than which is easiest for you to use.
VW is like driving a car with an automatic trans.
VV is like driving a car with a stick shift.
VR is like driving an older car with square cut gears (you have to double clutch)

I am having trouble with it not clearly stating if it's vv or vw. The svd says it's vv vw fires at .5 and is a 20w mod. I just wana buy something once so that I can grow with it. I want to keep using my nautilus tank and eventually get a sub ohm tank and after that eventually to start dripping at home. I want better vapor production and more flavor.

I also saw the seigilie (spell check) 50w box mod but the sites says it's vw but doesn't clearly state if it's vv. thanks for all the replies

Watching PBusardo's reviews on YouTube is a great way to learn about many of the various mods being sold. He is extremely detailed in all his reviews.

The market is changing so fast that you may be able to find something that works great BUT new technology will continue to drive the market forward. I'll be interested in seeing what comes out of Dr. Farsalinos research on Temperature of evaporation, liquid consumption and vapor analysis in realistic conditions.

I have not yet purchased a mod with Evolv's DNA40 temperature control chipset. Here's a video on this: A PBusardo Video - Introducing the DNA 40 Temperature Protection Board with a Special Guest
