Switched to vaping after 26 years of tobacco 3 days ago. I know this will have been covered elsewhere here but this forum is vast lol, quicker to ask again. I haven't started coughing up the crap yet but I hear it could be anywhere between days and months for it to start coming up (can't wait!). So any tips on speeding up the process to get that 26 year gunk outta there...

IMO, not really. I'd say anything you might try, short of mild aerobic exercise, would probably end up damaging something worse that the cigs did. Don't be surprised if you start to get symptoms like a cold or allergies as this seems to be common (it happened to me).

Give it time...now that you've stopped sucking on burning branches, your body will do what it's designed to do and you'll start feeling an improvement.

Hi! I smoked roughly 1.5 PAD for 40 years and switched to vaping a couple of months ago. I think I coughed stuff up once of twice when I first started, but nothing since then. My lungs feel clear, I think. If I exhale as hard as I can, there's no squeaking. Maybe not everyone coughs when they switch.

you can't speed up nature, you'll have to let it take it's course....quite frankly you'll start seeing improvements in your breathing a couple of weeks after the switch, a month in and i was feeling like i was a kid again....but then again i had only smoked ten years....the only thing i can give you is to drink lots of water as it will aid in flushing out your system and keeping you hydrated (as vaping is very dehydrating)

There are teas in the tea isle that clear out your lungs. Many herbs do just that, they clear out your lungs and mucus membranes. if your seriously concerned about clearing out your lungs, don't inhale. The VG and PG is a sticky substance and i'm starting to wonder what that does in our lungs.. maybe it actually KEEPS the tar already there, stuck there? who knows. Vaping is only 8 years young. With vaping, more nicotine is absorbed via the mouth than is absorbed by the time it reaches your lungs anyway. So, get yourself some breath easy tea (thats the name I use) and don't inhale as much as you would when you smoked.

When I quit smoking, I was actually looking forward to coughing up chunks of whatever I imagined was inside of me. I somehow thought I would feel better if I could see physical evidence of my body repairing itself. That never happened. Rather just a slow progression of feeling better overall as nature took its course.

Ive only been vaping a lil over two months. Ive been feeling drastically better since I started and my stamina is much better also. I have noticed lately that when I wake up I have allergy type symptoms and my throat is full of junk but I never seem to cough up a damn thing.

Sent from the cab of a x-ray rig bored out of my mind!

Me too. Waking up feeling like I have a bit of a cold. My lung have already started to clear themselves out. I am only on day 4. I was thinking about taking some muscinex. (Spelling). I still need to up my water intake... I hate plain water though..

Try mild exercise: Walk or two around the block once a day, hit a punching bag, do some work around the house, calisthenics .... just anything to get your blood flowing and air deep in your lungs.

This would be my advice also. Also, it would be best to get a checkup.

I smoked for 34 years about 2 packs a day and I think I coughed up some nasty stuff for a few days after I started vaping but nothing after that. Lungs seem to a lot more clear now but its only been a few months, I believe that your lungs will start to heal themselves with in the first year or so dont quote me I think I read that some where. As far as things you can do to speed up the healing process there are a few natural remedies web sights out there you can check out but honestly I think letting your body just do its thing will work.

It all depends, not everyone will cough up stuff once they quit. It varies and the factors are how long you have smoked, how much you have smoked and all other habits involving your lungs being used tbh. I ended up coughing up this gross like substance about a month after I quit, lastd for about 2 weeks and now im fine! :) good luckk!

I just started in October. I'd smoked for 20 years before that. I got the PG liquids (v2 platnum liquids) to start and found they cleared my lungs out pretty quickly. The VG is pretty coating and makes me feel more gunked up. The PG was like steam cleaning my lungs out. I was coughing up all kinds of grey all suddenly then it slowed and my lungs feel so much better now.
