In my town there are 0 Vape shops. I know about 5 others besides me that Vape. I walked into a gas station and saw some vaping stuff. 2 egos and 2 I clears with a USB chord and one 10ml juice for 79.99$ I was like wow. Does anyone else have similar places? I feel sorry for the people who buy this. The worst part is that the people were sold out!!! My setup is way better and cost just a tad more!

Taking advantage of uninformed people who don't use/know about forums like this. Sadly some of these people will be frustrated with the lack of support or the poor quality/high prices of such kits and give up on vaping thinking it is a total scam and waste of money.

The internet is a great resource for research, shame not everyone takes advantage of that aspect. Not just vaping gear either, most anything can be researched online.

I like when I walk into a convenience store and say to the clerk, hey I notice u sell ecigs, then he usually takes one from the shelf as he starts his spiel on how good they are, as I slowly reach into my jacket he looks at me like I'm gonna rob him, and as I finally pull out my innokin Itaste 134 and say now This is a Knife.

All kidding aside, even if his higher priced ecig turns one smoker into a Vaper all is good. Hopefully a few well use the interweb for research.

yeah, I agree.

Probably a very small percentage of the vaping public ever goes to an internet vaping forum. Most problably do not.

People are busy with their lives, jobs, children, etc. I know very few people who use the internet "socially".

People just ask me "Do those things work" and I pretty much just tell em how long I have been off the cigs...

Maybe just next time I'll give em the "lazy eye" and shout Crikey! :D

Over priced? Yes. But, at least it's a good enough set-up to let people know that vaping can work!

Anyone who uses the internet nowadays will at some point end up doing some research about it. Even me! Google 'e-cigarettes' and guess what. You'll find ECF. You'll find a bunch of junk too, of course.

All people need is to know that it can work, that it's not only scams out there. Then the door has been opened!

Is it taking advantage or just capitalism (however much we may dislike it at times)?

Given that the OPs town doesn't contain any vaping stores and he knows just 5 vapers, it sounds like the actual market there for vaping goods is pretty low. Which means the store owner doesn't do a lot of volume and is probably buying small quantities at prices no better and maybe even worse than knowledgeable people pay from internet retailers who direct import from China. Plus the owner is a brick and mortar retailer with high operating costs to begin with which have to be covered somehow.

And it's a convenience store where the price of everything is high -- I mean, a can of pop for 75 cents when a twelve pack at the grocery store is $3.50? It's not hard to see these prices as not completely out of line for the location and the retail environment they're sold in.

You could make the same argument about taking advantage about even the better US internet sellers -- a quick internet price check shows an EVOD kit at a E-Cigarette Forum vendor selling for $46. Are they taking advantage when someone could buy through Fasttech for half that cost? You could say yes, but then again, you could say no since part of what you're paying for is the knowledge of someone who can navigate the jungle of Chinese wholesaling to find quality products and their costs of importing and making them available.

Now, maybe somebody should take a wholly altruistic approach and invest money importing quality, name-brand e-cig kits and then provide retail space and informed people to sell it, all at a loss, so that people will convert from the damaging habits of analogs without getting frustrated or ripped off. But I'm pretty sure no one is signing up to do this, because that would be a non-profit charity, not a business.

I am a newbie and just got my iTaste VV V3 in the mail yesterday. I did quite a bit of research prior to making a decision. I Googled e-cigarettes which is how I for ECF! I went to a local B&M and they had the same kit that I have but, it was $30 more than what I ended up paying online. If I didn't do the research, I would have never known and spend way more than I should have. I can understand a business trying to make a few bucks but this was a bit ridiculous. The owner wouldn't budge on price either. I would have much preferred to support a local business but I was not going to be taken advantaged of either. I guess it just proves that being an uneducated and impulsive buyer has it's drawbacks. For some however, because they are impulsive, do not care as much as they just want it here and now. To each their own I suppose.

There are now three brick and morter vape shops that I've found in all of NYC. Only one is convenient enough to actually go to. The others are several blocks away from the nearest subway station. You bet that they're over priced. I sill buy liquid and coils from them when I can though.

The overhead in NYC is incredible. Rent is astronomical. I know as I rent office space for a living. But there's a market for a brick and morter in NYC. We need a place to go to for emergencies and what not, so no matter the price, I try to buy a few things from them here and there to show support.

Their staff is friendly and knowledgable. They take the time to show a customer how to work xyz, and they help their customers troubleshoot problems. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who don't want to bother with finding a forum, and wouldn't be vaping without that hands on help. Also, for those experiencing an emergency and can't run out of work to pick up a replacement coil or e liquid, they offer same day delivery within NYC. You can't beat that.

Still, I cringe everytime I see someone buy some of their more expensive equipment. An MVP 2, iClear 16 kit for $80? An iTaste VV v3 express kit with only 2 iClear 16's thrown in for $70? Yikes. I tend to stick to their liquid, which is top shelf stuff and pretty spot on with the Internet for a bottle of Standard or Alpha. Coils too, which are pricy, but still affordable to me.

I wouldn't be vaping if it were not for 2 different GAMING forums.

I am old enough to remember these plastic tubes they marketed in the 80s. You inhaled through the tube and were supposed to get a slight flavor and a nic hit. No vapor at all. They were HORRID. SO when 21st century and njoy started showing up at convenience stores and tobacco shops I just figured it was the same crappy thing.

I was scrumming the wow forums about 2 years ago and stumbled on a thread where a bunch of people were talking about ecigs that worked for them. After talking to them I found out what I needed to get. At that time about a $200 setup. That kind of money was not in the cards and my buddies on the wow forums were not helpful at all in hunting down a cheaper rig. They really had me believing that this was the only setup that could possibly work.

So I put it off for another year when I ran into a thread on a different gaming forum. They were all using other systems. Some alot cheaper than the one from the year before. Some a whole lot more expensive. They suggested an EGO-C Tank system and pointed me to a good deal on it. Talked to the hubby and got one. Now the tank system was an abject failure for me but it was good enough to get me hunting for other things to put on top of the excellent Joyetech ego batterys I already had.

And that led to ECF

You never know what road is going to get a smoker to vaping. For some of us it is a long strange trip indeed. :)

I went into a B&M in Miami and the guy wanted $19 for a 5 pack of Kanger coils! Whoa! In The Colony (a suburb of Dallas) they will not sell me an itaste 34 by itself, must buy the kit which contains stuff I don't need and therefore too expensive. Which is weird because half a mile down the road is another shop that will do it, for a reasonable price. Never did get one, but when bundled that way they had zero chance of selling me one.

That's crazy - people must still buy them at that price though.

Your paying for a convenience. I run a cafeteria here in town and I sell Monster drinks and 5 hour energy shots. Yes you can get it cheaper somewhere else. I buy 5 hr energy at $32 for a box of them about $1.33 each and sell them for $2.50 each But I have to stock a box at a time and I sell 3-4 of them on a good day. I know there are people who would say you would sell more if your price was lower. It was lower when I started, I didn't sell any more then than I do now and I made less money. Just in that cooler alone I have about $1,000.00 worth of product at all times Nothing moves at a huge rate it is a convenience thing. The people who are looking to buy them the cheapest, get a whole box at Sams and do not buy them from me. Same applies to a store that stocks merch like an ego or evod. If getting it super cheap is your foremost concern then you will order from one of the many on line vendors and get good sometimes great prices. If a storefront tried to sell product at those levels that store would not last unless they did an astronomical volume. I posted about this once before and the attitudes vary there are a lot of people who think that stores would sell a lot more product if they had cheaper prices and that is not necessarily true. He might in the long run, if he could afford to lose money until the word got to enough people about his reasonably priced store. Every B&M I have been to is a small business owner just trying to make a living and I have only been to two stores that had more than a couple people in them at one time. So I get it. My first vaporizer was called safesmoker and it was 2 808 batteries with cartridges and a charger that I paid $80 for 2 years ago. I used it about a month before I gave up and went back to smoking. But it was worth that $80 to see the potential and is what got me here now.
