Okay, basically what they're saying is that they can't recommend e-cigs over smoking due to stomach aches and undefined "illnesses of the nervous system".
Tummy aches as opposed to cancer are an effect of nicotine gum too. Belly aches are a result of swalling nicotine-laden saliva with the gum, I'm gonna guess that belly aches with e-cigs are the same. So how do you solve this? Cut back on the nicotine level...or spit when you need to. As you adjust to the way the nicotine is hitting in your mouth it won't be as much of an issue. Remember how much you used to have to spit when you were a teenager and started smoking cigarettes?
As to the "illnesses of the nervous system"...I really have to wonder what these are. Anxiety? Depression, paranoia? Confusion? Hmmm...all of these are effects of nicotine withdrawal. Maybe they aren't using high enough nicotine levels? Headaches? You wouldn't believe the migraine I'm suffering from today! After 25 years of smoking and 2 years on the e-cig this is my first week at 0 nicotine.
I guess what I'm saying is do research yourself. Don't take these articles (or even what I say) at face value. Find what works for you. But definitely don't believe or trust the people who tell you to quit or die. You know, the people who say things like "Definitely we are not endorsing e-cigarettes as an alternative to actual smoking using real cigarettes"."
After reading this I wish I had clarified "quit or die" for people who aren't familiar with how it's used to mean there are no other options.
