I had GURD for many years, but it was no surprise. I had full blown stomach ulcers and IBS at the age of 14. That was before cigarettes and alcohol took their toll on my guts. I can eat whatever I want now, but I generally avoid sodas, alcohol (including beer), and obviously cigarettes. Too many days of spicy food in a row and I might have to get back on Prilosec for a week or two, but in general I'm in better shape now than I ever was. Everyone is different MrPicC, don't assume you'll do any better or worse in 10-20 years. I totally understand your pain Uncle, I've been there.

Get that doggy to the vet Lisa, and good luck to you both. I don't want to go into the details of my last dog's end at 16 years old, he had a very full and happy life. He did have similar symptoms to yours near the end, but the vets assured me there was nothing I could have done to help him. My newest rescue dog also skips a day now and then, and he's only 3 and very active and healthy. Even if I was a vet I couldn't make any guesses on what is ailing Emmy, so I will hope for the best for her and you as well.

Hey Ray, how are you doing? Did I miss an update, or what? I hope that some progress has been made in your treatment and that taking it easy has had some positive effects. I'm a little self-serving when I say that, because I want a VVV tank and a new cartopunch tool!

I hope you make it through the twister season Steve, I can't even imagine how scary it must be to live on OK right now. I'm trying to avoid the media coverage, the reporters and anchors are too stupid to watch for more than 15 minutes and that's only if I catch it at the right time. Hurricane season hasn't even really started yet, tornadoes are killing and destroying so many lives, 17 year locust plague is about to happen... is it time to crawl into a hole and hide for a while? I don't have that option any more than most people. Stay safe if you can Steve.

jpf, I hope your wife gets better soon. I obviously can't do anything for her, but I'll have something for you going out early next week. It should help you save some money to use on more important things like doctor bills and the like. Take care of her, and I wish her the best of luck and you as well.

Good luck on your show LD! You probably won't need it, as long as the sound stays on and people show up, it sounds like it will be fun!

If I missed somebody it wasn't on purpose. Have a nice weekend if you can folks. Carpe diem - bona fortuna!

Well, I went to Wallyworld, grabbed shredded EVERYTHING, purple onion, cilantro, avocado, a bit of this and a bit of that AND a little stroller! Came home, unpacked, and took Emmy out with the stroller. The first thing I noticed is... there are no front wheels! LMAO! Holy H E L L I had to bend over the entire time to tilt the stupid thing BUT she sat in it when she got gimpy in her leg... I'll wrap it back up to return it and I'll get the next one up with 4 SETS OF WHEELS instead!

4 SETS OF WHEELS????
WOULDN'T THAT BE A 16 WHEELER STROLLER......GOOD BUDDY

Friday's gone, so this is CHAT -

Just had a walk with Emmy. With the 2 hot baths and the liniment on her legs she was racing around like a fiend. She did her business and then she lagged coming back and I carries her back LOL Just put more liniment on her legs as she's hopping around a bit now and looking back at her leg spasms. If she perks up or wants a hot bath and THEN perks up, then we'll deal with creaky old bones LOL

I was planning on staying up tonight to prepare for my night shift the day after tomorrow, but I fell asleep after making coffee LMAO! I'll be drinking it cold this AM! I have to look up stroller wheels to add to this stroller or I'll grab another one... this is a very light model, so I'm hoping I find wheels.

I hope all are safe and resting easy tonight!

UPDATE - Sheesh! I checked and they are SUPPOSED TO HAVE FRONT WHEELS! I'll go back and get them, they must have fallen out in the pile of strollers I dug through :/

Glad to see someone else awake =] I just checked my email and got a reply from Emmy's previous owner. They said she was diagnosed with arthritis and she has issues in the back right leg. The vet told her there was nothing they could do since it is a Shih Tzu breeding issue. Anyway, I notice her holding up her LEFT LEG, but she looks back at her right one all of the time. Anyway, they said she DOES go off of her feed and won't go out for anything when the summer heat comes on. I called my old vet that is a bit away and he was in surgery on a HORSE LOL Anyway, I spoke to my favorite Vet Assistant and he told me the names of some stuff to get, specifically Absorbine Veterinary Liniment and Liquid Health K-9 Glucosamine with OptiMSM, Hip and Joint Formula. He also verified what I'd been going through with her.

I rubbed her down with my own liniment and she's sprawled out and snoozing... God Bless America and the freedom of information we have... there are so many quacks wanting you to come in for a office visit fee and so many quacks trying to sell you crap... I'm glad I have the contact info of ONE great vet LOL

There really ARE good health care professionals out there, for humans and animals. My vet is the BEST !!! We were in High School at the same time, although we weren't "High School Friends". He will help you regardless of receiving a fee.. and half the time he doesn't even charge for meds.
This is opposed to the Neurologist who said he wouldn't operate on my neck because "Medicare didn't pay enough".
Sheesh!

After working in a general practitioner's office, I can say that without a doubt they don't get paid enough from Medicare.
They don't get reimbursed for the total cost of drugs administered in some cases.
Vets are not required to have malpractice insurance, there is a big difference between hidden costs of doctors and veterinarians.
I'm not saying that all doctors are underpaid, I've been ripped off for thousands in unnecessary tests and treatments.
Having someone that will give you sound advice over the phone is awesome. The reason a doctor's office worker will ask you to come in for a visit is often to cover liability. We live in a very litigious society, CYA is often the name of the game.

* I have carne guisada thawing from the freezer - quick and easy tacos for lunches and dinner.

* Then I have 2 chicken breasts thawing... I plan to debone them and either Joe Foreman grill them for salad or with veggies OR I'll bread them for chicken fingers... I haven't decided yet.

* Finally, I have some fish marinating in some Asian dressing :/ This fish has no flavor AT ALL and hasn't been the best of buys :/

I just rubbed Emmy down since she's favoring her leg again - I lay her on her back in my lap and massage her lower legs and when I get near where the knee joint is she starts growling. Once she's ready to get up, I roll her over and she snaps at me LOL Moody old b*tch! LOL I've read the reviews on the Glucosamine for her joints and they say it starts working pretty quick, which I am glad for!

I just asked if she wanted a BATH and the d*amned old girl just went to the restroom and JUMPED IN THE TUB! I didn't know she could do that! I feel pretty stupid because I OFTEN find her laying beside the tub and whining or wanting to get in the tub when I am showering... She's been trying to let me know all this damned time :/ I need to find her some type of smaller tub... I can't be running a full tub of water for her several hours a day, we won't have any hot water LOL
