4) If Ray asked me to, I'd stop. The article is about e-liquid, which Ray doesn't sell. The contest is open to anyone, but I'd love people from the Triple V community to win so they can get free stuff. I'm not going to rig a contest, but would enjoy it if someone from the communities I actively participate in (Ahlusion, Valley View Vapes, The vape Tree) won.

Fair enough... like I said, I'm new here :) I wasn't trying to cause any problems, just thought it was odd

4. 8/28 - Just got home after a few hours of doing important things in the "real world" and discovered a disturbing e-mail. A friend that I PIF'ed vape gear and e-liquid to a few months ago sent me this link E-cigarettes health: France, FDA. Some of us have seen a few of these types of articles before and know what the real truth is. The friend that sent me this article seems to believe it and is scared. Infinite facepalm...

5) That "study" was been used in local news reports in California. There are two cities that have a temporary ban on e-cig stores and the news stations have pointed to the French study saying what e-cigs might be bad. It's so misleading. I shouldn't be surprised that the local news stations aren't doing anything resembling proper research, but it's still annoying. While people that understand the situation realize that the politicians are scared about losing tobacco-tax revenue, people that don't know about vaping will be under the impression that it's just as dangerous as smoking tobacco.

The study was vague and ignorant -- clearly commissioned to further a political agenda. It's extremely unfortunate that shoddy news reports are basing stories on this garbage study.

Supposed to be at work at 8am, wifey woke me up at 7:50: "arent you supposed to be in soon?!"
woulda been nice to have my 2 alarms go off, but somehow, someway, that didnt happen. fortunately, i had a remaining schedule change to use for the month and called in to request my opposite shift of 12-9. phew, crisis avoided.
a few posts to respond to:

Traveling is not hard with PVs. I though security might be a concern, but the only thing that happened was a TSA agent pulled out my vamo and wanted to know where i got it, how much it was and how well does it work compared to an ego.
The only mistake i made traveling, was bringing too much! better than not enough though. Extra batteries, ~6 tanks, 8 juices, syringe (i found this to be unnecessary thou with thin tipped bottles to fill the screw holes on the tanks), extra cartos, carto punch, with everything triple bagged. on the plane i experienced a little leaking, a few drops from the tanks, but not much at all. will do the same configuration next trip (whenever that may be!?)

i dont see this as a problem. a dictionary, especially a prestigious one, should contain all words used in the english language. which means actively keeping up with "new" words. i am under the assumption, that most words used today are "newer" as our language is constantly evolving. it is necessary to record and define english words as they become used and prevalent. (even if they will be forgotten in a year or two)

YUM YUM YUM!!!
You will love em, you made great a great choice with the juices you selected!

Have a great and safe trip!!
I am jealous, as i have been daydreaming about being back in NY.

It is good to have an established and reliable source. the Urban Dictionary is user created and not always accurate :)

2- luckily no flying, just cruise ship security which is very light, lol! Thank you!

I bet there is more formaldehyde in new carpet and other items

The CASAA commissioned study did show a steady increase in formaldehyde level in the room with the vapers...
The interesting thing is, that the formaldehyde levels increased whether they were actively vaping, or juSt sitting in the room breathing.

Oh yeah... WE emit that crap, naturally!

Bah, spiders are okay. They make great pets - you don't have to love them, walk them, bathe them. You only have to give them a little water and a cricket now and then, and clean up the mummified spider-turds every now and then. Avoid the fangs. If you get one with an attitude, wear leather gloves while changing water/cleaning tank.

OMG.......... *faints*

there's a BIG list of mods I would like to have, but cannot afford
You and be both!!
I have a great mech comin, and will probably not get another mod for a long time.
I would like a really good VW device, i have a couple, and the vamo is my everyday mod; but i feel like it could be improved upon. i imagine within the next few months there will be some stellar new VWs that draw a lot of attention.
also, i think the REOs are really nice. possibly, a box mod with VW would be my next mod....... in good time though.
Just found a scorpion in my kitchen sink. How'd it get there?
SCARY! i hate those little guys! i shake my shoes out every morning for fear of a scorpion or spider that took over my footware a a new dwelling.

just the first sentences of the article. bleh:
"E-cigarette health risks could potentially outweigh the risks of smoking regular cigarettes. The levels of nicotine in e-cigarettes can kill a child, its carcinogens can cause cancer in adults, and the unknown chemicals added to the nicotine-laced liquid solution are kept hidden from the consumer"

More battery safety stuff, please skip if not interested...
Thank you again S for the info!! I like how you lay it out and make the information more understandable. I took a look at my batts before leaving today for work. the 18650 is a highdrain efest IMR, the 18500 is a EH IMR. Ill do a search (after work) for an inexpensive shortstop. I dont think i will ever drop below .9ohm, so if i understand correctly this will work fine with the batteries i already have? As the battery looses charge from use thru the day, will it stop working while it still holds a charge because it cant power below a certain voltage on a low ohm (.9) coil? and do i lose anything (power) by having the shortstop in? let me rephrase, is there a disadvantage to using a shortstop?
Your batteries sound perfectly adequate. The ShortStop (by Holocron Labs) will work fine with your intended setup. The battery won't "go out", it just gets weaker and weaker. Imagine you are using a Vamo at 4.2 volts and that is working well for your coil, then switch it down to 3.5 volts, then lower, and lower... it makes for a lousy vape in comparison to how it started. You're not supposed to lose power by using a ShortStop, but they do recommend a replacement every 6 months. I haven't had one long enough to say if this is necessary, but for under $10 shipped it's not that big of a deal. Do a Google (or whatever) search for "ShortStop by Holocron labs". The first link should be the manufacturer (where you can read the details) and shortly after that will be a place to buy them for under $10. VJ pimped them a while back, you can also find it that way. Best thing he's ever pimped IMO. There are other fuses on the market that also reset themselves for less money but I never looked into them after finding what most consider to be the best available.

Just in case you aren't aware, the purpose of this fuse is to cut off the current when there is a short. There should not be a short after you wrap a coil and confirm the ohms are safe, but "stuff" happens. Early this morning I wrapped a coil and checked the ohms before putting the cap on the atty. After putting the cap on I checked the ohms again, the coil hit the side causing a short resulting in 0.2 ohms. I hadn't fired it yet, but if I had the fuse would have kicked in and cut the power. This is why they exist, whether you find them necessary or not is up to you. Many folks never use a fuse and in some situations they won't fit, like in a 14500 mech. In those cases extra attention to detail is required. Safety, safety, safety... have I stressed safety enough yet? No sleepy coil building! Use at your own risk!

... enough disclaimer. I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

It is amazing what people can come up with. A little information is a dangerous thing and so many folks just read accept everything without doing any research of their own. I looked to see if there was a comment section at the bottom of the article but couldn't find one so we can't post rebuttals.

news reports rarely double check the information they get.
I know someone who shot himself in a drunken state, and the news reported that his wife shot him.
just awesome.

2: Your not kidding about that, for instance. The gas attack in Syria is blamed on Assad. The question becomes why is the person who is winning the battle bomb his own people to bring attention or other people against him? Never mind that there is video you can watch on who loaded their mortars with the chemicals and shot them, Al-CIAida. Even the pictures shown of the dead people and children aren't even from this attack used to pull at your emotions to get you to agree to another war.
