4. 9/16- I went to Oatmeal, Texas yesterday to look at a new-ish power chair/scooter for my disabled mother since her old one just broke, no parts available for a discontinued model other than tires and batteries. The one I looked at is half the price of a new one and was only used once. Too good to be true? Not this time, I just got lucky. It even has full on suspension, crazy cool!

Being pessimistic can make lucky moments extra special. I would feel bad for folks that expect everything to come their way, but their lack of gratitude when given gifts keeps me from caring about them in the slightest. I'm a "glass isn't completely empty yet" kinda person. BTW, I hope that the winner of the 10 millionth post prize shares the wealth at least a little bit. I know I would. Do unto others... etc. :2c:

@LD- Sometimes things are sold really cheap because the seller needs the money fast, just doesn't care, or doesn't know what they're doing. When listings like that come up, some realtor or rental agency will try to snag it by renting it themselves and sub-leasing at a massive profit. That's what they do for a living, quite often they're the worst kind of middlemen in the world... next to bankers of course. ;)

is it too good to be true?

i was searching cragslist for a new rental house.
trying to find something in a similar range to the place we live now. the necessary amenities being A/C (this is a deal breaker as we have had swamp for the last 2+ years); 2 bedrooms; fenced yard (its time to get a puppy for the boy!); dishwasher, washer/dryer hook ups; more SQ then our current place, and not in the boondocks.
i found some appealing places. and i found one amazing place.
the amazing place is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with yard and all the aforementioned qualities and then some. even has a garage. it is going for 15$ less than we are paying now and is twice the size.
too good to be true? they only had an email listed so i sent a request for more info showing my interest.
according to the email i received, it belongs to a pastor that now lives in michigan. he sent a short and basic application, name number employer address family size pets etc...
other than some poor grammer, i cant tell if this is a scam. he did send the address of the home (and yes its far from where we live) and talked about being a good Christian and his bothers keeper. He did include a cell phone number, which tells me there is a good chance that this is legitimate. comparable listings/rentals run about $400+ more than he is asking.
Is this a real!?
Ill call him before i submit my info (to play it safe)
But i am kinda dumbfounded as its plausible but unlikely (im not naive, often) this is real.

If its real, its a dream house, and perfect place for my family to settle in. i just cant help but be skeptical.

Be skeptical, LD. There are a lot of scams on craigslist. If they won't show you the house before you give them your info, don't do it. Never give anyone your info sight unseen. When I was looking for a place, I actually saw a listing for this great little house, even had pictures, and it was really inexpensive, so I was excited. But, as I continued my search, I found that same house being rented by a realty company for $400 more than listed on craigslist by that other lister. Same pics and everything (including address). Just because they give you an address doesn't mean they own the house. They can copy and paste pictures. I ran into dozens of scam posts on craigslist. By that same token, though, I also found my current abode on craigslist, so just be careful. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I have zero expectations of anything exceptionally good "happening" to me. I'm A guarded-optimist that's used to life's little disappointments.

PS.. if I'd win such a vaping windfall there'd be . lot of PIFfing.

edit: Damn I was hoping m. 1000th post would be the 10,000,000th...:glare: another disappointment...

Thanks you all for your responses. In a few minutes ill call him and feel the situation out. If it doesnt go thru, i didnt lose anything other than some energy and i would be ok with that. I find it difficult to believe that he would be offering the place for a lot less than the realtor, but it is possible. and it is absolutely worthy of looking into.
I wouldnt send any info first though.

1. 9/16- According to the Chinese charts, I should avoid Horses, Rabbits, and Roosters. I spent many years riding and taking care of horses, I'd be happy not to shovel any more of that (as nice as they are). Rabbits? They're really cute but I'd be happy not to shovel any more of that either, "we" had rabbits for decades as well. Roosters... that crowing drives me nuts.

No offense if you are any one of these, I don't believe in any of it. I just like the Chinese animals better... monkey, dragons, tigers, oh my!

you better avoid me then, cause i'm a rooster (i was gonna use the other word but it was censored :glare:)

Good Luck LD. I wouldn't get yours hopes up too high but you never know, stranger things have happened. No matter what place you find it takes some patience to make sure all is as it seems.

Thanks RR! We are not in a huge rush, as we are month 2 month now. but after my car was broken into a second time and the need for more space for the boy, we need new digs. i have a feeling that its not gonna happen with this listing. between the grammatical errors, and calling water utility the 'hydro' i have to assume there is something off with this. i still have some other good prospects, and i plan on calling my current and previous landlords to see they have any thing available that will fit out needs.
if this one falls thru, not a big deal. as long as i am not scammed ill be happy with a response from him.
Never dress up for hellOWEEN.. My dog though will be dressed for sure hate it or not..

i usually dont either in recent years. i did a little bit to take the boy trick or treating last year. and this year for my halloween party i might if its functional. ill need pockets to carry envelopes stuffed with monies to pay all the djs, sound, lights, staff etc....
but to trick or treat i kinda wanna go as dj lance, yo gabba gabba is Levis favorite show!
