I'm not whistling in the wind, I swear its true. I've put on weight since I started vaping, but it feels like rock-hard muscle.

I'm not eating more than I used to; I'm not getting more exercise than I used to (I am active and fit though), but three or four weeks ago I noticed my lower body -- where I was muscular anyway -- changed a bit and some of my clothes were starting to feel more snug. Being a woman of a certain age I went into panic mode doing the "pinch" test at all hours (girls, you know what I'm talking about!)

When I calmed down though I realized that it didn't feel like fat; I've been fat so I know what fat feels like. It actually feels like solid muscle.

Anyone been in the same boat or know of medical evidence where muscle mass improves or regenerates after quitting?

You say that's happened since you started vaping. But...did you quit smoking entirely when you started vaping? Some people dual use for awhile.

If you totally quit the smokes when you started vaping...it's not unusual at all to gain weight. It's because you quit the smokes though, not because you're vaping. Quitting smoking affects your metabolism, and how each person's body handles that change will vary.

If your weight gain has been muscle mass...jump for joy and thank your lucky stars. Mine certainly wasn't! ;)

Want to gain muscle strength? Quit smoking!

^^^ a study on the topic and yes, quitting smoking can cause you to gain both muscle mass and muscle strength..

You're right, vaping not the cause. I gave up the sticks entirely back in November; I noticed this change about a month ago. My system probably sat for 4 months waiting to see if I was going to stick with it, then decided to give me a reward!

Without all that strength sapping carbon monoxide mingling with oxygen molecules throughout the blood stream it's totally logical your muscles are enjoying that new found supply of life giving benefit(s).

Circulation may be improving as well since the plaque causing chemicals from tobacco smoke are being wisked away by the potential increase of HDL's that tobacco smoke tends to stifle.

Makes sense to this guy anyway.

Me? I lost weight at first. Before cutting back on tobacco smoke (as a dual user) I cut out caffiene in my coffee, chocolate snacks, sugary sodas and began excersizing more in case the change in nicotine consumption caused my metabolism to slow down.

I wasn't going to post about this, so I am glad you did. I've gained 2 inches and my wife has never been happier. It's hard though.... because of my increased endurance I am able to focus more energies on my yard. That extra 2 inches means I have to mow the grass every week, but it's lush and green, and all the neighbors keep telling my wife that our yard is the best on the block.

I didn't even use fertilizer. Just long sessions of tender loving care is all it needed. I couldn't do that when I smoked.

I got fat when I stopped smoking and started vaping - made the switch on day one -- I also was injured so I was less active - but still, it was mainly stopping the cigs. Lost most of it but am still a little chubby ..lol however I can breathe and climb stairs and exercise with no problem now. And no wheezing.
