Hello, This thread theoretically belongs in the Health part of this forum, but since I am a new member I am apparently not allowed to post anywhere else. Anyhow... I'll get to the point.

I started using E cigs about a month ago when I purchased a Mistic kit from Wal-Mart. Since then I've smoked only two regular cigs. A week ago, I was walking to the gym and puffing my mistic cig, and i suddenly noticed that I felt winded after I had only walked a couple of blocks. I ignored this...then two days later while i was at work I noticed i started feeling out of breath while sweeping the floor. I decided to slow down on using the E cig... Yesterday I went to the gym and came home and ate...then I started breathing very hard for maybe 45 min. even though I only used the mistic for a couple of puffs the entire day. It was actually kinda scary, I was about to go to the hospital, when it finally calmed down.

Now it has been over 24 hours since I have touched an e cig, and I am still feeling a little short of breath, and i have to take a sharp breath every few minutes. I am not 100% sure that the mistic e cig is the culprit in this matter, but it sure seems that way. Maybe I got a realllly bad batch of refill cartridges and they messed me up.

Before all of this happened I ordered a KR808D kit, along with one PG E-juice and one VG juice. (should be here any day now).
I read on this forum that some people may react negatively to PG, which is used in mistic cartridges.
I am planning on going to the doctor soon if this does not get better. But once my breathing clears up I want to try the VG juice.

I am 22. I started smokin at 19. I'd say I averaged half a pack a day for 2 years. Then tried to quit, but in reality just cut down to one or two a day. Until I started the e cig.

I dont think I vaped the carto too far, this last refill pack I got have started tasting bad really quick. And I switched them as soon as they started tasting terrible. See... thats why I feel like it could be the cartos... This all started after I got this refill pack.
But, like Hoosier said, it could be any number of things.

As others mentioned it can be so many things. Make sure your water intake is on the higher end. If you're concerned about the PG you could get 100% VG juice at virginvapor.com

I was going to say the first problem was buying an e-cigg at Walmart..... Thankfully you picked up something else! Walmart is the devil. The way they treat their employees I wouldn't trust them with an e-cigg I'd be inhaling into my body.

To answer Hoosier: There is a small sticker on the back that reads "201311-1" I'm supposing that represents a date most likely Jan, 11 2013....but maybe nov 1...or maybe it means something completely different! lol

To Frosting: Yeaaah, one month ago when I bought from wal mart I didnt know anything about the world of e cigs...I had bought a disposable to one to test...it satisfied my craving, so i went for the nearest kit i could find. I've learned a little bit since then... I just hope i am okay by the time i get my stuff in the mail. I dont want to be afraid to suffocate to an early grave...or perhaps timely..depending on how you look at it.

res- Do you have asthma? Just a random thought that came to me that if you do, maybe you just need to use your puffer a little more during the transition?

I had mild ashthma and so did my mom now we don't need our puffers at all though! woo!

If you want to be on the super safe side you would just not use the misty untill it comes in, or

Buy a bottle of HUMCO with USP on the bottle- Glycerin. Its vegetable glycerin. You can dilute/thin it out with distilled water/ Altogether it should cost less than 5$ at walmart. *hates self for advocating walmart* but that's where I found the USP glycerin in the Pharmacy department. Drop the created mixture in your cartridge/cartomizer, whatever you are using. The misty sounds like it may be automatic so dripping directly onto the atomizer may not be the greatest idea.

I just got back from the doctor. He said i have some drainage that is affecting my lungs...some form of bronchitis. So i guess i have that...plus I think other things are making it seem worse because I have been drinking too much coffee at work lately, and probably not enough water. Anyhow hopefully I'll be able to breath properly soon with the help of my brand new shiny inhaler!!

Thanks for your replies, and suggestions everyone. I'm gonna lay off the Mistic for another day, as my KR808 should be here tomorrow along with some hazelnut, and vanilla tobacco juice. one pg and one vg. I'm really craving nicotine at this point. I just...need....one...puff.
Actually....just a thought...would it be best to wait until I am better before vaping again.?

I've had some terrible occurences with both PG and VG. Sometimes the old lungs just can't take the vape. I've cut my vaping down to a few days per week. I can't handle any more. Unfortunately, I've had to resort to the alternative recently. GL with your probs.

My mom is in her 70's, smoked close to 60 years and has COPD. She's had nothing but positive results since she started vaping. She can breath better, is off one inhaler and one BP med. If I were you, I wouldn't give up.

Yeah, coffee is dehydrating too and dehydration combined with bronchitis makes for a bit more pain.

I switched to vaping before I caught my yearly case of bronchitis and haven't had a case of it since, so I would not have a clue if it would help to vape during a case. I could see it drying out the crud in there and making it harder to clear out, but I can also see it making coughing more productive because the lungs start healing pretty quickly.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

What should you do, vape or smoke? That's pretty much a no-brainer.

Personally (and im not a DR btw) it seems like its NOT vaping related the fact you have some drainage in your lungs is the problem, and i HIGHLY doubt that this is directly caused by vaping.

BUT (its a big but) the vaping could aggrevate the problem and kick start the symptoms, so its your call really!

Not much an answer really after reading it, but thats my thoughts! :)
Glad its not caused by vaping though and the problem lies with some biology rather than vaping! :)

Well I had similar reaction when switching to PG. I'm not sure if it was the e-cig or not but last summer I was having a horrible persistent cough and some rough breathing, wouldn't really describe mine as shortness or labored but more of a just having to take really deep breaths. Went to a doctor and she said I was having an allergic reaction to something, she said that the back of my throat had a sort of rash and this seemed consistent with how I had been inhaling ecigs(the only change in my normal behaviors). I had checked my lymph nodes and found some really noticable swelling allong my throat, particularly right below the jaw line along my trachea, prior to visiting the doctor. Being paranoid I thought it was too swollen to be a lymph node and thought it was something serious. Turns out it was just an allergic reaction, which I believe was to PG which I had switched to recently. Point is if untreated, an allergic reaction typically will persist and get worse over time before it gets better. The doctor had me take an OTC anti-histamine such as Claratin, the one I took, for a couple of weeks and the swelling and the cough eventually went away. I hope this is the case for you as well, would consult your physician before coming to any conclusion if I was you. Good luck and I hope you get well and continue to be able to enjoy a healthier life with your e-cigs.
