Hi All,

I been vaping since August 08. Actually stopped smoking analogs quite by accident. Wasn't really trying to quit, just sort of happened. I have replaced my smoking habit pretty much completely by vaping. I still have the occasional analog every couple weeks or so, but every single time, I am blatantly reminded why I gave them up. Also, I remind myself what it's like to lick a dirty tire. :)

Anyway, I live in Dallas (Plano Actually). I'm originally from PA, but I've spent most of my adult life in Texas. Have two daughters in college (SMU) and would STILL consider putting them up for adoption (Well...until they finish college anyway) :)

For those just starting out, hang in there. I smoke the pen-style almost exclusively, and I drip always. I'm (patiently) waiting for improvements in batteries, and in (consistant) atomomizer lifespan, but it'll come...some day. I have finally passed the point of e-vaping being cheaper than smoking. It took a while, 'cause I was buying a lot of different things, to find something I could be happy with. I like the Janty manual switch the best, but I hate being stuck with more expensive batteries. I just need to break down and mod my USB supplies to work with the smaller-threads. I get tired of constantly charging batts.

Anyway, ... about me... I breath oxygen, I have a complete pair of eyes, still have all 10 fingers, AND, I occasionally try and be funny. Of course, I'm just masking the pain that I have.....oh wait, I'm accidently sitting on a pencil. Pain Gone Now. You all have a great day/night/evening now.

Hello! My name is Kat, and I moved to Dallas from Wisconsin in 1990. I like it here. :) I do still miss snow, but I don't miss shoveling it and my husband is definitely not a fan (he's from Memphis - we met here).

I've been vaping over a month now, and had my last analog on the Ides of March, mainly because I still had half a pack left and I paid good money for those dang things, and I was in a bar and bound to smell like smoke regardless, you know?

I started smoking when I was 16, worked my way up to 2 packs a day, and never thought I'd be able to quit after 28 years until I actually got my hands on my first 901. I have a penstyle and a pilot, too, and I love them all for different reasons. DH still hasn't quit completely but he's cut way down (and since he was getting through at least 2 cartons a week -- worse than me, even -- that' saying something!) He mostly sticks to his penstyle.

Other than that, I'm mostly stockpiling my little heart out. I'm a vaper now, and I refuse to quit! :)

thanks for inviting me over,

name is trinity (middle name, but main one i use). 32, divorced, no kids. i grew up in the big bend region and san antonio. i spent a few years working for toys'r'us doing their vax migration, so travelled pretty much everywhere. started a business doing web programming and database applications, but got burnt out on computers for a while. so i bought 20 acres in terlingua, moved back out there, and worked at an auto repair shop off and on till the owner died. then came back to san antonio to work for a friends night club.

am in the process of designing and testing a few things, working on starting a supply business for e-cigs and other stuff (already have a lot of people interested down in terlingua as we pay way to much for everything). at the moment i am getting a lab to custom make some extremely potent unflavored solution for me, which i hope to start selling for diy / recipe work, and will probably keep in stock once i start working on custom flavors.

hobbies: modifying anything and everything i can get my hands on. rapelling, rock climbing, hiking, caving, offroading, working on vehicles, etc.

i have been smoking for 20 years, 2 years of regular cigarettes, 18 years of kretek. i have been vaping for a few days now, and would have quit analogs today, but somebody brought me a pack of djarum specials :p no matter how much i vape, i miss the taste of a decent kretek. my favorites were djarum black tea, sukun orange, wismilak diplomat, marlboro mix 9, gudang garam djaja king size, djarum special, and djarum 76. so of course my main concern now is to work on a flavoring that actually tastes somewhat like a kretek.

enough rambling, thanks for having me

I want to take a moment interrupt this thread and welcome all the newest members, especially the ones I sent out unsolicited invites to. Sorry about that but there was really no other way to let everyone know Tejas Vapin' exists. A very special thanks to Menolly who started the "Texans" thread and led to the creation of Tejas Vapin'. As of this writing we have 33 members. I think our Texas pride is starting to show. :w00t:

I don't know about ya'll but I'm really enjoying reading everyone's introductions - fascinating stuff! Nearly everyone who has joined as taken the time to post an intro. I hope the rest who haven't can find a few minutes to post a few words too. It's fun to learn about our fellow Texans on this board. We also have some very talented members that will greatly benefit our group including graphics design, organization and fund raising skills and I'm pretty sure everyone in Texas likes a good party amongst friends.

I want to encourage everyone to start new threads about whatever you feel like discussing or want to share with the rest of us. Also it would be cool for us to post photos either of ourselves, pets, places or things you'd like to show off :) If you have photos you want to share but don't have a place to host them just let me know and I'll host them for you.

As a reminder Tejas Vapin is a private group for now and open by invitation only. We can change that at a later date if our members want to. But for now, if you notice anyone else from Texas posting on the main forums go ahead and give them a heads up about the group and request an invite from me. If they have TX or Texas in their "location" field chances are I've already sent them an invite. But there are others who only have their city or country listed. I wish we could set it where we could all send invites but unfortunately we don't have that option.

I won't interrupt this thread again "groupie" stuff (lol, yeah I'm a dork sometimes) But I do think I should this thread so new members can learn about us individually when they join and be encouraged to post something about themselves too. Ok, that's all, please continue with posting your intros...

Lika :)

Hey guys my name is Petie, i'm originally from the Corpus area. My day job is offshore tournament fishing. I now live in the N. Dallas area. I was only expecting to be here a short time to sell a house and then move back to Florida to fish again, but the bad market decided other wise. Now i have started a company called Pure Illusions here in Dallas and have hooked up with a reliable manufacturer of e-cigs and anything else. Whoever has a myspace check out my page. pureillusionz

I've been studying these e-cigs and different models for awhile, trying to get all the knowledge i can on which ones work the best and for the best prices. If anyone is interested in getting with me on being a distributor of Pure Illusions e-cigs, email me. I've got a presentation together and a really good business plan. I've already been getting with clubs, bars, and stores here in the Dallas area and i've had great responses.

I'm not in this for the money, even though hopefully it will pay some bills. I have to watch my father slowly die from stage 4 lung cancer and its very painful for me. Anyways i'm happy to help out in anyway i can, so lets do this guys. Its good that we can get a group together and have our voices heard.

Looks like I'm next up...

First off, thanks to Lika for starting the group, and to Jim for the invite, he saw me wandering around looking lost in another forum.

I'm Tim, and I've probably been esmoking for around a month now, exclusively for a little over a week. I live in Austin, have for the last 12 years now, after moving here from Utah, which was my last assignment in the Air Force after 11 years straight out of high school. I've been smoking since I was probably 15 or so.

I honestly looked at e-cigs as an enhancement to cigarette smoking at first - you know, replace a couple of smokes that I didn't really need but burned out of habit, and allow me to get my nicotine fix in a few situations where I otherwise couldn't. My first one was either a bad unit or a bad model, but the company I'd ordered from (Smoke Free) was really great and sent out a replacement - actually a newer model - when it became clear it wasn't going to work for me, and it did well enough to show me what these things can do, and I managed a couple of days with only 5 or 6 cigarettes. I'd also ordered a pair of Pilot kits from Puresmoker, and they all arrived within a couple days of each other. By then, I was banking on the fact that they would allow me to quit analogs - literally, as I had been making my own cigarettes from loose tobacco and empty tubes for the last 6 months or so in an effort to save money, and I had saved a bunch, but the new tax (a 2200% increase!) was set to take effect on April 1st, and I had bought a pound of tobacco as insurance in case the e-cig transition was rocky, but that was it.

I did have a bit of a rocky start with the Pilots, but I've come to a sort of understanding with them, and they will suit my needs until I can find the right companion. Starting with my second day with the Pilots, I went cold turkey on the analogs, and haven't looked back. Even when the e-cigs have been problematical, they seem to be giving me everything I need as far as replacing normal cigarettes, because I don't crave them. Oh, and I will do nearly anything, and spend what I have to, in order to ensure I stay away from them. I've had quite a few health problems lately, one of which is sleep apnea, which I'd be willing to bet was at least made worse by my smoking a pack and a half a day, so I'm hoping that quitting will eventually have an impact and let me get some freaking sleep already. It's also nice to get back all of the little pieces of time that cigarette smoking had been stealing... time with the family instead of out on the patio, time from the last cigarette before getting in the car with the boy, time from all of the smoke breaks at work to try to get more done... it all adds up.

So that's me... and by the way, with a local Texas group I'm hoping we can share tips on where to find various e-smoking accessories locally (cart filling, flavorings, etc.). I scored some polyfill at a Michaels, but struck out on the Lorann candy oils I was trying to track down - will probably post a thread here, but may end up ordering online somewhere.

Hey guys, thanks for the invite!

Been living in Midland for 8 years, born and raised in Odessa. I'm 32, been smoking since I was 18, started vaping in January and I love it! My current models are a loongtotem (disposable atomizer/cartridge), a Pilot hybrid, and my homemade e-pipe. I've got a vapornine Nebula (new style disposable, like the Vapor King) on order and I am hoping it can replace the Pilot as my out-and-about device because I really do not like the Pilot and though my e-pipe is great for home use I don't think it would work well out in public.

I'm glad there is a place for Texans on this forum so we can share experiences and local finds. I haven't come across any other West Texans on here yet though, so if you are out there speak up!

Howdy Everyone,
My name is Royal, but most everyone just calls me Roy.
I was born and raised in Texas and the Texas Hill Country. I grew up on a Ranch in west Kerr County.
My wife and I now make our home in Wimberley. We decided to settle back down here when we returned from living in Minneapolis for a few years. Don't get me started on that place. All I will say is that we first thought it would be romantic to have a white Christmas. The truth is that kind of cold hurts. In the three and a half years we lived up there, I never made a snow man. I was just too busy trying to stay warm. I did however learn what a real winter was all about, and for this south Texas boy, that was scary. I used to complain about the Texas heat, But I'll never complain about it again. I can cool off a lot faster than I can warm up.
Anway, I used to smoke two packs of cigs a day. And I did that for the better part of 35 years. In mid February I caught a nasty chest cold, and smoking just made it even worse. So I used this cold to quit. After three days of some serious Nicotine fits, I discovered E-cigs. (This is where my username comes from "Nicfits") I decided to try some zero nicotine stuff and it was all that I needed to get through the cravings. I still vape zero Nicotine and don't plain on stopping, or using any nicotine. As long as I can enjoy vaping without the addiction, I am a happy camper.

Looks like I am getting long winded hear, something I can now do since I quit analogs. :D
I'm happy to be apart of Tejas Vapin, and am looking forward to a gettogether.

Hello y'all! My name is Misty, age 28, Married, no talkin' pets (ie no kids) live between Austin and Waco all my life. It all began when I saw a photo of an assembly line in China, bunches of people putting together electronic cigarettes. What's that? The research began!

I only just started & haven't quit nasty tobacco yet. God help me, I've tried it all. Been praying, begging, trying to quit for years. Average about 2 packs a day, along with everyone else in my family & I can see in them the results of smoking so much for so long.

The plan is to ween down to 0mg & be done with it all. We'll see....

Already, I smoke about half as much around the house, toting around my 901 to every room in the house. Eh, work is work & smoke about the same there but at least with my e-cig I got something to keep me from snapping till break time! :D

I have yet to figure out how to work around this forum--I can never get my picture to show up on the side. And oh yeah--I talk. A lot.

Well, I am Jody. I live in Garland and am a stay at home mom of 3 kids, one in college and 2 in high school.
I am currently trying to patiently wait for my orders to come in from 3 different vendors, so I haven't started vaping yet. I feel pretty confident though that when I do, and have questions, that ya'll will be here for me. It was a wonderful idea to start a Texas Group! Thanks for including me. :)

Thanks for the invite :)

I want to also thank everyone on this forum. I have learned so much from you good people and this forum has changed my life for better health.

I am a Native D/FW Texan so is my wife. We have a dachshund/Beagle mix doggy that my wife rescued from an Oklahoma shelter. Most people see Nigel and call him a "dachshund on steroids" :D

I am a military veteran of 6 years with tours of duty all over Europe just before/after the Wall came down what a trip :D I guess that and watching 007 movies growing up I am fond of Europe and love to Travel. I also love gadgets so the whole Ecig thing was easy for me to fall in love with :D

Im the Party Smoker type. I dont drink every day so my addiction is very minimal give me a beer I want Nicotine plane and simple. I havnt had a Analog since early March 2K9. I have invested a lot of money and time towards keeping it this way.

My wife hasnt smoked in about 2 years. She is totally shocked at how quickly I have changed from an Analog smoker to Vaping. My biggest fear right now is she will one day pickup my vaporizer and fall in love with Nicotine all over again.

My Father is about the same story so when I vape its still very discrete for the most part. I dont want them to relapse back into an addiction.

My Mother still smokes like I did before the Vaping so I plan to give her some of these life changing products and hope she can leave the Analog world behind for good like I have :)

I work in Healthcare as an Orthopedic Surgical Technologist x 20 years. I also work in I.T. freelance which started as a hobby and has grown into a busy part-time career. Mainly contract work building high end liquid cooled computers for high definition integration between the PC/MAC and HDTV.

I also do a lot of software beta testing for many companies like Microsoft, Cyberlink & Electronic Arts to name a few. Lastly I like to sell things on Ebay and hoped to generate some funds with vaping products but at this point dont think its a good road for me to travel considering all current events in the vaping world.

I guess that tells the story best that ties me to this forum LOL. I like to rant and ramble if you didnt notice already HEHE.

So see yall around the forum and hope to meet some of you in the future.

P.S. Im taking my wife to hawaii next month for our anniversary we are so excited!!!

Rich

Hey y'all! Just logged in a bit ago and got the invitation to the group...thanks! Typical friendly Texan behavior...I love this state.

Anyway, I'm J.D. (apologies to Jim Davis for any nickname confusion), and I'm a native Texan. I was born and raised in Corpus, spent my teenage years in Midland, went to college in Waco, lived in Ft. Worth for about a year after college, and I've been in Dallas since then. I think all I need to complete my Texas bingo card is some time in Amarillo...

The e-cigs (sorry...personal vaporizers) have been one of the greatest things I've found in ages! I was roughly a pack-a-day smoker off and on (more on than off) for almost 15 years before hearing about e-cigs early this year. After buying a 901 from Puresmoker, I was hooked! I haven't had an analog in a couple of months now, and I have no intention of going back. In addition to the arsenal of 901 parts laying around my place, I've picked up an Evo and a Pilot (I'm a big 401 fan, obviously), and I just received my Joye 510 from Parked at DietSmokes today. (Glad to have a local supplier just across the Metroplex!) Now I'm switching into evangelist mode...I showed my e-cig to my dad (a 50+ year smoker) over Easter weekend in the hopes of converting him. I think I see a starter kit in his near future as a gift from me...

Anyway, that's all the rambling from me for now...thanks again for the invite!

I dont particularly like the town, but its about all i know other than the hill country... in any event, i'm 22 almost 23, and i started smoking when i was 15 or 16, cinsistently a pack a day since i was 18 or so until about a month ago when i got my 901 from dietsmokes.com i've had 3 analogs since i got my 901, and i cant stand the things at all any more. i'd rather go without anything than smoke a analog.. i had no idea they tasted that nasty... i'm a total car nut, spend most of my free time under the hood or on the comp..
i deliver beer for a living, have done that for 5 years or so now.. along with going to school, more work than school though. no, i cant give you free beer or free samples;) so dont ask.. but thats about it

Greetings fellow Texans!

Real name is Ellie. I'm 38 years very old and a mom to two girls 17 and 7 and have been claiming Austin as home for the past 13 years. Previously though I have been known to live in Ft Worth, Arlington, Dallas as well..but always Texas.
Started smoking when I was around 13 years old back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and smokes were 75 cents a pack! All the cool kids smoked after school in the parking lot and so I had to as well and never stopped until two months ago with the e-cig. I have always considered myself a hardcore smoker meaning that not a pill, patch, gum or losenge could stop me..will power..yea right..I bought my first e-cig a 401 and not really in an attempt to quit but looking at it as maybe a way to cut down and it seemed to be healthier..first day I had that thing vaping was the last day I touched a real ciggy and I have never looked back. My kids love me for it and think it's great and remind me often and I have even managed to turn a couple of other smokers into e-cig die hards as well..

anyway..great to meet you all!

Hi Matrix and GrandMom,
I am in between the two of you. I live in Wimberley. Matrix you make me feel old when you talk about 75 cents a pack cigs. I remember buying them four 25 cents, and you could find cigarette vending machines everywhere. They were even in the Hospital emergency room waiting area. LOL. I guess I have been around since before T-Rex.

Always nice to meet fellow Texans.
GrandMom it's ok that you are a transplant. You have been here long enough that you can drop that part from your title. :)

Welcome!

What?

Only 25 pennies...

You've got to be kidding me! LOL

That sounds cheap but it was probably still on the expensive side considering inflation since then.

I love hearing 'bout the good ol' days :) My 15 yr old tells me she wishes we could all go back to when there were no electricity, cars, etc. Just live off the land, she says. I tell her that she couldn't survive in today's world without those things. She responds, "Oh yes I could. But only if everybody does it." LOL

Also, welcome everyone. We're all really glad to have you as a part of our group :)
