This time of yr makes me want to head back up north to my hometown too. So far as I know they have not really changed the school schedule that much there as yet

For all of our east coast members that have never been involved with a hurricane . I have been watching the predictions for hurricane Irene to sweep the eastern seaboard and thought I might offer a bit of advise from south florida.
Number one , by the time they tell you to evacuate it will be too late. What happens is the gas stations run out of gas fast and the traffic puts you at a standstill on the road burning gas going no where.
If you know you are in storm surge or a flood area, leave soon! Dont wait.These storms are dangerous and that is no kidding.
If your on higher ground and you wont get the storm surge prepare for a while without power. Stay safe , I hope this storm just stays far off the coast , but sooner or later it is going to hit land so be careful out there.

I'm going to the beach tomorrow and wave as it passes by. Then I am going to pick up the shells it leaves behind.

I watched one round the end of Florida one day at work in a 3 story building here . It is a awesome sight ,, and scary too !
It was quite a ways out in the florida straits and we could still see a lot of it . I was so happy to leave that day and go home LOL
The building I worked in was a whole lot of glass walls facing the ocean . Pretty on most days , that day , well , it was scary.

Yea, i will be on ground level. I'm going to watch friends surf, or should I say crazy people. I will be dry on the shore checking on my turtle nests.
Tomorrow my oldest son will be one of the surfers , though I think he is going to Datona, not sure were really.
He loves to hurricane surf and yes they are crazy.

If he really is into surfing he will be at Flagler pier or New Smyma. that seems to be the 2 surfing spots. They are crazy but fun to watch.
Flagler sounds familiar , I will have to ask him were they go . He said 10 am tomorrow morning they will be there .

Well I do equipment bags of various sizes , I suppose it depends on what you call a purse LOL !
Wow I just dug out the customs form from your package. I mailed it August 17th. That seems like a long time to get to you even where you are from me, but then I have been waiting for a package for that long now myself so I dont know.

Sometimes I get orders from the US in 4 days, sometimes it takes weeks. And have even had it not arrive at all. I'm stalking the postal truck! lol
Oh dear , what a problem . I have tried to even track it by the customs number and I guess you cant do it . Sorry it is not there yet for you Sammy , Please let me know when it finally arrives. They usually do , just not in a timely manner even within the states.
I watched the storm for a while. I will download some photos. I got a couple of some surfers at the pier I'll post and you can see if your son is one of them.
