Welcome! The staff hopes that having this forum will allow Vapelink to communicate with the ECF membership more efficiently, and that it will provide more feedback and subject matter for the show.

For the ECF members that are not familiar with Vapelink, it is an independent news and discussion network that is self supported and does not accept advertising from the E cigarette trade. By taking a neutral stance and approaching the show as journalists they are in a position to report facts and open topics for discussion without the baggage that comes with being industry supported.

To all the staff over at Vapelink: as they say in show business, "Break a leg".

How exactly are you neutral on all topics?
Why doesn't Elixirtv have it's own section like Vapelink or any other station for that matter?
C.B.

I'm not sure how to answer this. However, we are not commercial and are self funded. I asked ECF for the section, and they agreed. Nu-Vapor has also given us a section.

We've got an open source philosophy to the show. It's published under the Creative Commons non-Commercial Attribution license. This is done to protect the content while being able to publish to as many people as possible. Additionally we're carried by vapenet. Total vaping Network (replays), ecig TV, and Vapour Trails. That being said- we're non denominational. And we offer our show to any network that wants it.

My assumption is that ECF thinks, that since we've laid out our show in this manner, that it's good for the part of the community that spends it's time on ECF.

But I can't speak for ECF. That's just my assumption.

I think "neutral" is an awkward way to say "honest". We only present our honest opinion. Not having sponsors or accepting money makes it easier to not feel pressured to present a particular view.

I can see where this subforum may cause some to feel a bit divided, as we all are entitled to having our own personal favorite network, show, host, format, etc.

But, I want to echo Cozzi's statement...

The appeal and reason I decided to sign-on to Vapelink is the lack of commercialism. We don't have ANY sponsors. We will NOT be doing any giveaways or receiving special perks because of the program. This is publicly stated via our Mission Statement - which I initially drafted to ensure that when these kinds of questions might arise, we can point to it as our guiding principles. To be honest, we have very little invested in capital or operating budget to Vapelink. We're not running multiple PC's and mixers and internet connections, etc. Our desire is not to be the best produced show around. It's not to be the flashiest and attract the most viewers because of killer presentation and abundant giveaways - if that were the case, we would have signed on to an existing network and tried to build off their current viewer-base. Our main goal is to provide an easy to access platform to discuss electronic cigarette use.

In the end, we can't guarantee everyone will like us, or even care to tune in to the show. All we can guarantee is that we live up to our mission statement, and in turn, stay as uncommercialized as possible. This is probably the appeal for someone like ECF. They don't have to worry about their sponsored vendors conflicting with our's, as we have none.

Maybe neutral was a bad choice of words, but it was the least offensive way to get the idea across. I'm going to be blunt- we all know that there are a lot of reviewers, bloggers and hosts that are firmly in the pocket of certain manufacturers and suppliers. I'm not condemning them, some are extremely popular and others are very open about their relationships. ECF would like to highlight some networks that bring value to the vaping community without being infomercials or commercials.

Folks need to remember that ECF has a few guiding principles behind it and it's "Mission Statement" is the vision SmokeyJoe has for ECF to be a family and work friendly resource for the community that advocates for the community. Vapelink got a subforum because their format is "open source" and they are non commercial. Will other networks get subforums? That is entirely up to a couple things - their content and format, and ECFs evaluation of their "value" as an open source of news and commentary.

I did notice Old Soldier that you were trying not to be "offensive" however I prefer blunt and offensive when necessary!
Thanks guys!
I didn't want to assume anything so I threw it out there since others were complaining but nobody would say anything to you.
Just as an aside I don't get paid from vendors either nor do I receive products to "review" for free like some guys.
I'm a huge fan of Basilray who is one of the few who actually knows wth he is talking about in regards to devices!......

I can't imagine why anyone would keep quiet if there were complaints.

We're just three guys doing a show. And yes, I know you aren't paid by vendors for reviewing stuff (???). I find it hard to imagine that anyone would get their feathers ruffled by our show.

This is all very confusing to me.
