From what I always understood the long arm of the law stopped at the borders. Would be interested in how an Arkansas policeman can arrest someone in Florida.
Simple. They call up Florida law enforcement, you are arrested, then Florida extradites you back to the state of the crime.
    Happens everyday down here.

His (son Paris') business shipped an item (pipe) across state lines into a state with laws banning such items.
The state prosecutors actually ordered said item, not an individual.

In the end, at 70+ years old, He did prison time for it.
Just google it, it's a very well known story. A travesty of justice.

I believe if I remember the case correctly that it dealt with an illegal substance. (At the fed level)

Florida can say no. I can hear it now... hey Florida buddy.. Little jimmy purchased a 14 dollar evod from our state. How about sending him over?

Come on now. Let's be realistic. This isn't murder. This is a travesty of a law and government infringing on the rights of its citizens.

You are exactly right and they don't want us to have any rights. The correct terminology for a growing Government that does that is SOCIALISM.

The people can stop it, but for some reason they aren't.

Because people got their heads stuck inside of an ipad or have a cell phone glued to their ears and they are not PAYING ATTENTION to what the government is doing......... Plus the criminals (gvt) are indoctrinating the young kids in the schools now days with a bunch of garbage. People need to wake up out of their electronic stupor and indoctrination or we are sunk.......... If you study history about other Countries, this same thing has happened to many of them and they turned into 3rd world Countries because of it.

    No sir.

It was a hand blown glass pipe.

It was a violation of state law, banning such items.
Tommy was prosecuted to make a very public point, which backfired.

Paraphernalia is treated the same as the substance. It is illegal as well. Anyway it is not a state vs state issue. It was a fed issue. The Ar-Kansas law is specifically Ar-Kansas.

Which blows my mind. Certain states allow it but it is still illegal at the fed level. What? Then take same sex marriage. It is fed law and some states do not want to accept it? What? Messed up is what it is.

Which has been a growing trend here for the last decade or so, sadly. The people can stop it, but for some reason they aren't.
Everyone is too scared to use violence. Violence is what built this country and it could be used to keep our politicians in line. If everyone that supported violating our rights had to fear death around every corner, from every person that got within a mile of them, they would stay in line.

Tommy was charged by the U.S. states attorney, he was facing federal charges and after he took the plea, he did his time in a federal prison.

    cheers

Yes, I understand what you mean but there is a reason for this phenomenon......... Lots of folks aren't aware of the fact that ORIGINALLY when this country was founded, the ONLY role that the federal Govt had was to protect the country with the military........ That is the only LEGAL function that they had. The individual states were to make their own laws and each state has it's own laws and ways of dealing with things...... Then as the Fed gvt. grew it started gaining in power............. This is one of the reasons why LARGE Governments are ALWAYS a bad thing........ Then the feds started encroaching on individual states, which they aren't supposed to do. Our Country was set up and designed so that each state does it's own thing and has it's own laws........... But they are not teaching the kids in schools now days this truth or many other truths for that matter....... This is another reason why young people are simply "unaware".

No, it was a state issue.
Wikipedia is a weak source of information.
Pennsylvania laws restricting sales of glass pipes were used after a prosecutor ordered products from his sons glassblowing company.
The pipes were shipped across state lines.
The shopping allowed prosecutors to get federal aide in raising his home and arresting him.
The state of Pennsylvania prosecuted him in federal court.

Had he never shipped the glass across state lines he would not have been arrested.

You do realize the federal paraphernalia laws technically cover all personal vaporizers too right?

I hope it doesn't come to violence. The Condemner in Chief is using an exec order he signed a few years back to organize a military force that operates outside the purview of the conventional military leaders. They have been doing war games in a half dozen states the last few months. Then he makes a public statement saying he could win a 3rd election if he ran... With his record of thwarting the constitution things could get messy soon. I wish the congressmen we elected would develop some testicular fortitude and stand up for the folks they were elected to represent.

    Pennsylvania arrested him.
    He was prosecuted in Pennsylvania.
    His business was in Oregon.

The only reason he was arrested was shipping a glass tobacco pipe, which was banned on a state level, across state lines.

Which is why they didnt prosecute him in his own state where is business was located.

The prosecutor used the entire fiasco to further her political career.

Staying on topic, yes, they can prosecute out of state businesses.

Actually Steve, that is not accurate. Read ejuice monkey's statement on their facebook page (they are AR based). I've been looking around and there are already vendors saying they cannot ship to ARKANSAS.

So I have been wondering as I read the bill/now law this is still unclear to me...does this prohibit AR vapeshop retailers from selling online to in/or out of state consumers?

Why in the world would you want to BASH an entire state and all of the 3 million people who live here ....... over a dumb vaping law? Seems very ignorant....

You don't live here and you are quoting statistics.....never representative of any place in real life. I've lived all over the US. One would be hard pressed to find a more modern, incredibly beautiful library than the one in Fayetteville, AR. Look it up sometime. (Northwest AR is NWA is the 23rd fastest growing metro areas in the US....there's a reason so many people want to live there. (escape CALIF, FL, NY, TX, etc.)

Look up Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art......considered a world class art museum built with Walmart $$.

Yes, Walmart headquarters is in AR. So is JB Hunt. So is Tyson. There is a ton of $$$ here. Bentonville is world renowned as a retail capital of the world....they put a regional airport there just for Walmart. :)

We have one of the top 10 Pediatric Hospitals in the entire United States (ARK Children's Hospital) Trauma Center 1 and ACH is one of only two hospitals in America that can fly an ECMO patient.

This is one of the hands down most beautiful natural environments I have ever lived in , and I am well travelled.

I could go on but there's no point. You are whereever you are and obviously not in touch other than to look up stuff from the census bureau or something, with no immersion into the place you are commenting on.

I absolutely hate it when people post stuff like this.....its so offensive.

I have visited both Fayetteville and Bentonville often, my sister lives in downtown Bentonville and you are right on both accounts. As a matter of fact I will be going there soon for her son's wedding :) with the reception at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art which BTW stole their original director Don Bacigalupi from the Toledo museum of art where I and she are from which was an ongoing :) between her and Alice Walton. I would love to move there someday.

The architecture is amazing as well as the collection it houses inside and out, everyone should see them both at least once during their lifetime, it is a national treasure.

    The only "Unknown" in the inevitable Collision-Course is;
Which will the U.S. Military choose to follow and be loyal to,,,
The Commander in Chief (whoever that may be at Point of Impact).
    or
Their Sworn Oath of Service & the Definition of "Illegal Order" as clearly deemed by the UCMJ.

That Answer alone will determine the ultimate Fate of the United States of America and its People.

Having taken that Oath myself, I have seriously contemplated that same Dilemma and after searching Mind, Heart, & Soul, came to the only Conclusion any true Person of Honor, Character, & Principle could.
