So some of the threads I've been reading lately have had a LOT of very technical information. Electronics, physics, molecular structure, fluid dynamics etc. All of which got me curious about how you know what you know? When I started vaping I didn't know ohms law from any other law. I just knew that I didn't like that burny taste, and I didn't want to get arrested either! So to all of you ECF Wizards and Gurus, did you have some technical training or job skills that you drew upon when you started down this path, or did you learn it all step by step like the rest of us unclean masses? Either way, I still enjoy reading your stuff, even if I don't understand it all. ;) (yet)

I think it just shows that the vaping community is made up of people of all walks of life. Some of the members on this forum are from technical backgrounds of electrical, mechanical, chemistry, etc. Some are older with years of experience, while some are young and building their experiences in life.
We are all learning together this new way of getting our nicotine by vaping.

I am no wizard but there are certainly many here abouts.

It is amazing to me the unformation that I have aquired reading and reading these threads here though. I also meet up with other local vapers and learn from them, or we learn together and pass along what Ive found out here.

So.....I think we, the unclean masses, just pick up this stuff as we go.....(an what some dont know, they ,make up as they go :D)

Ask a question here or any other forum for that matter, get 10 different answers and 9 of them will be wrong. The really hard part is picking out the right one.

Being involved in air conditioning service, sales and such since I was in my early 20's involved a lot of trouble shooting, logic and ohm's law was just a small part of that.

BCC trouble shooting has so many variables that every time I think I've seen it all I run into something else.

The mechanics of Vaping fell in line fairly easy for me. I'd spent most of my life as an Auto Technician and eventually ran my own Auto electronics Accessories business. DC current is sort of second nature.
I still have to remind myself, when assisting, others may have no experience to rely upon for understanding.

Yes, I made the list twice!!

So, you want to know how do I know what I know, huh? For me, I've always had a decent memory, not quite eidetic, but when something interests me, it sticks quite well. Science, math, and reasoning have always been my strong suit. In HS I was in honors math, calc, trig, etc, and some honors science, biology and physics. Chemistry never interested me because they made you memorize the periodic table.

I'll be the first to admit, in a few of those threads, I was learning on the fly. I know a little about a lot, have the general concept down pretty well, and just needed to find some details to put it all together. The funny thing is, everybody sees the finished post, but nobody knows it took me sometimes up to an hour to research and write it. I know what the next question will be, "Why?" Because certain people rub me the wrong way, and I take it as a personal challenge to prove SWAG's wrong, (Scientific Wild ... Guess).

Edit - Just wanted to add I'm a weird nerd. If I hear about something, anything really, and it sounds interesting to me, I just have to learn about it. I'm not good at public gatherings, so I figure if I know enough to hold my own no matter what topic, I won't look like a dolt. Well, a bigger dolt, that is.

A specialist learns more and more about less and less, till he knows all about nothing.
A generalist learns less and less about more and more, till he knows nothing about everything.
Politicians are usually viewed as perfectly generalized specialists or perfectly specialized generalists....

One can get by - drop in a shop online or B&M 'round the corner, read a few posts, get some gear and juices, start vaping, continue vaping. It can and does work for you. All you need to bother with is replacing a part here and there and juices. One can go on like this just fine. Does it make you an ignorant ? Certainly not. You just decided to take is as far as you want to.

And then there's folks that are taken by vaping - hook, line and sinker. Some bring knowledge from their field of job expertise, many start digging deep and learn about their new hobby. Just like any other hobbyist, Heck, I once overheard model plane makers shooting the crap about aerodynamics, wing profiles, control surfaces, what have you. I'm sure they'd give engineers from Boeing or Airbus a run for their money.

Vaping isn't any different. You can ride your car without ever bothering about all the inner workings. And the there's fellas who like to take a look under the hood...

And it have been and will be the tinkerers, the under-the-hood-peekers, the lemme-figure-out-how-that-works-fellas that often contribute towards making a product better...

(Don't ask why I feel compelled at times to take pictures of my boots with my iPhone... it just happens.)

Well, at least it's G-Rated. I was on a rafting trip in Colorado one year, out in the middle of nowhere, sleeping under the stars. Anyway, the group I was with all purchased disposable cameras, because if one got damaged, we weren't out much money at all. Well, after we got home and had the pics developed, we found something interesting. One of the members of another group had swiped our cameras, all of our cameras, and gave us a present, a picture of *his* member.
