I both smoked and vaped for over 4 years without a collapsed lung or early signs of OCPD before finally giving up the cigarettes this past November, way to cherry-pick the anomalies CDC.

can somebody break that link for me please? gotta run and don't have time to figure out how. Thanks in advance!

If anything it demonizes e-cigs as a non effective nicotine replacement therapy. The Woman smoked for twenty years and continued while using the e-cig, only to quit e-cigs and continue smoking. E-cigs had nothing to do with her medical problems at all, smoking since the age of 13 did.

Maybe she vaped custards...

Steve, please point to a study that proves (or even suggests) that vaping custard flavors can cause a collapsed lung. There are legitimate concerns with vaping diacetyl and acetyl propionyl containing e-liquid but I have never heard anyone claim that they could cause a collapsed lung.

Her collapsed lung was almost certainly caused by smoking, not vaping and to suggest that vaping had anything to do with it is pure propaganda. Sadly,if she would have been able to stop smoking (perhaps she should have visited this site), she might have avoided the collapsed lung.

The collapsed lung is the least of her concerns. That can be fixed; COPD can't be...

You are arguing that he short experience with vaping caused her COPD, not the 20+ years of smoking??

You are really out there on this Steve. Months of vaping custard flavors is not going to cause COPD or else this board would be filled with COPD.

One never knows how a substance affects another, as people's tolerance to substances are unique. Last week at work a co worker and I were taking apart an extruder head with burning PVC on it. He ended up being treated with oxygen by medics, while I was unfazed...

Regardless of your personal anecdotes; if people who vaped a short time developed COPD I know it would be all over the news with press releases from every ANTZ group. The lack of these events occurring will provide proof to pretty much everyone on this board, except for you that vaping custard flavors short-term does not cause COPD. You of course are entitled to your own opinion....

Those cases would simply be attributed to smoking... I'm going with custards with this one. She was fine until she started vaping...

Would you advise someone with copd to not vape custards?

I do not have an answer for this. The theory that vaping e-liquids with diacetyl and acetyl propionyl has the potential for causing lung issues seems to supported by science. I am guessing that the damage would occur over a long time with continued use (assuming that the theory is correct that these chemicals when vaped cause issues). If I had COPD, I would likely stay away from non-tested custard flavors except for an occasional treat.

This is what is so great about vaping, choice! You do not need to vape any e-liquid that contains diacetyl or acetyl propionyl. There are several vendors that will provide lab tests showing that their e-liquid is free from these chemicals. I hope more of the companies go down this route so consumers can be informed.

If somebody's lung collapses, it's because of a problem that is NOT caused by smoking. The fact that collapsed lungs are rare events should be enough of a clue for reasonable people.

I don't suppose you guys set it on fire deliberately because it's the fast way to clean it out....

the problem with your ideology is ... you have no proof that vaping caused her condition at all.

I am willing to bet ... it has nothing to do with vaping ... and trying to say it was caused by vape ... seems a bit ANTZY to me.
