What a rough day...Ugh!!! Does it get easier!?!

Wow! Today is my 2nd day of vaping. The vaping is great. Going without analogs, not so great. Yesterday went pretty well. Smoked an analog when I felt the need. Tried my best not to though. Normally smoke 1 1/2 - 2 PADS. So this was a major achievement for me. Seems as though the roughest patch for me is mid afternoon to early evening. Today the withdrawal kicked in about mid afternoon. Oh my, every little thing ticked me off. Patience was hanging by a thread. Finally had to break down & have a nasty analog. Oh the guilt... I am using 24 & 18mg nic. Started chain vaping to help make it through the rough patch. Ended up with a scratchy throat, but I made it through the rough spot. Whew..... I knew to expect this, just didn't expect it this soon. So, yesterday smoked 7 analogs and 5 today. I still feel so guilty for caving in to the addiction. I know it will get easier (I hope). I do not want to fail.

So anyone have any tips on how to cope with the rocky days? What worked for you? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks all. :)

DO not be so hard on yourself. It is the analogs that you do not smoke that matter.

Plenty of people smoke analogs while getting use to vaping . There is no rule saying the moment you start vaping that you must torture yourself.

5 in one day after a 2 pad habit is a HUGE improvement! (after only 2 days!)
You should really be proud of yourself!

Chill, and take a deep breath! Everyone is different, there's no fast and hard, written in stone, this is the way it's gonna be rules! Go with the flow............
1. Drink a lot of water while vaping or you're going to feel miserable. Vaping actually pulls moisture out of your body, and your throat, and mouth will start feeling dry and parched.
2. Change your e-juice, switch from one to the other throughout the day if you have the gear to do it. Hit the high mg when you start getting stressed or antsy.
3. Smoking is a ritual, KNOW your RITUALS! Like when your on the phone, drinking a cup of coffee, watching TV. Instead of reaching for an analog, grab your vaper.
4. And DON'T beat yourself up!
There's a bunch of peeps here who had no intention of quitting stinkies when they started vaping and it just happened, and many did both for several weeks maybe a month or so, until that one day, that analog tasted like caca. Just be chill, it'll happen!
And Welcome to ECF!!!! Today you are that much closer to being a non-smoker!:toast:

That is a great improvement, congrats! I was only at 1 pack/day and I use 18 mg nic. It satisfies me fine. If you were smoking 2 packs/day I might suggest going up on the nic concentrate a little. Take your time and find some flavors you really like and it will get easier!

The sore throat might have something to do with the PG (propylene glycol) that is in the juice. Some people are sensitive/allergic to it. You may want to experiment with a juice that doesn't have so much PG and see if that helps. Overall it all comes down to what works for you. Just ease into it and don't feel so guilty about analogs!

I remember, over four years ago, I got a 501 kit and promptly went and bought a carton of MB Reds. I said when they are gone, that's it. When they were gone, I did suffer, vaping 36mg all pg juice till my throat was sore. I had those little black batteries plugged in all over the place. I tried blue foam, straw mods and read ECF constantly when not at work. The need for a stinky will pass but, the search for the perfect vape may not. Enjoy the ride!

No big deal. I smoked like crazy before vaping. Many people smoke a cig here and there at first. You did not smoke 30. If smokes are in easy reach you will cave from time to time. If you have them just set a goal not to buy anymore and allow yourself to finish them out but thats it. Find a good juice. Halos Torque56 did it for me as it tasted closest to tobacco for me 18mg. Next time you get the urge take a couple big hits and the urge will go away. The better the vapor the better the satisfaction. Drink lots of water.

Congrats on cutting back so much already!

I vaped for a week before I was analog free. My morning smoke on my drive to work was the hardest to give up. when I had the urge to smoke, I would vape for five minutes first and if I still felt like I needed the analog I would have one.

There will be tough days ahead. I just chain vape like crazy on those days.

It does get better. I smoked while I vaped for about 3 weeks. Then one day I just forgot to smoke. Funny how that works. You might want to up your nic in your juice. And don't worry about smoking while vaping. You will eventually forget about the stinkies. Remember, it's not the ones you smoke that count, but about the ones you don't smoke. Baby steps. You can do it. Good Luck & VAPE ON:vapor:

Congrats! It IS hard to quit. I was a heavy smoker too and was a drug user. Of all the drugs Ive quit, Id place smoking near the top of the most addictive substances to quit.

Like someone said to me when I was quitting, 'Rome wasnt built overnight.'
You are progressing and beginning a change. Dont stop!

Yes, and choose a staple juice as an all day vape! Tasty Vapor's lemon poundcake gives me a huge smile. Now tell me where to find an analog with that flavour?

It's all about progress. Even if you stay at a specific level of smoking for a time you can slowly cut back. There is no rule that you have to stop within any time frame so don't worry about it!

If you can, try to avoid activities that you associate with smoking. For me it was driving so I kept my PV with me and in my hand...worked. Break times I used to go to my car for a smoke. Now I go to the smoking area and vape...and I haven't had any issues.

Oh, and congrats on cutting down from 1 1/2 - 2 PAD! And yes, it does get easier if you want it to.

I am going to echo what everyone has already said here. Turn your point of view around. How many cigarettes did you not smoke today? Celebrate that. Not even I was able to quit immediately. I had a few learning curves to work through. I'm now approaching a week without cigarettes. The other thing that helped me was to keep searching for a flavor I liked. Still searching because I'm finding I like a lot of them. :2cool: The last thing for me was to have a high nic vapor with me all the time for when the cravings hit, then I vaped until the craving went away. When the craving was over I changed back to a lower nic.

I had a terrible, horrible, miserable, awful time quitting. And that was with an ecig, lol. I also beat myself up about it every day. I am not sorry I did or I might not have quit. I did try to look at the positive side too, I'd cut down 3/4s of what I had smoked, but didn't quit when i had said I would. I'm still astounded I made it though. It took me months to get off the cancer sticks. I smoked for over 40 years and none of that crap about, "oh, I just picked up en ecig and that was it with cigarettes for me." But I did it. Finally. Some of us just have to fight harder. Man, is it worth it. Wait until you get vaper's tongue. Then there are the quitting zits, canker sores and a whole bunch of other fun stuff. There is also not smelling like an ashtray, being able to breathe without wheezing, repossessing your taste buds, living a longer life, having more money (when you’re done splurging on new vape stuff), no new holes in your clothes or car, sleeping better and a host of other things. There are also the odd things. The most surprising thing to me was how god-awful the dog's farts were. I still can't adjust. (I've thought about hanging one of those car fresheners back there.) In the end, I'm with the other folks; it sounds like you are doing pretty well. BT has sent billions on getting you, me, the world hooked so how easy did you expect it to be? I hoped it would be easier but it just ain't so for some of us.

Here's some motivation; right click on the banner below and follow the link. Plug in some number and see what BT is stealing from you--besides your life. It's a little shocking as you see the numbers multiply and good encouragement in itself. I didn’t get, didn’t even know about it, until after I had completely quit. Bummer. Wish I’d known about it before as it’s one of those quirks that has helped me.

You will quit and that is what is important. Cigarettes were meticulously manipulated NOT to be easy to quit. Hang in there, you will quit, and wait until you find out what it's like on the other side, it's like a whole new life. Your gonna love it!

Go ahead with 24 mg/ml for a while. It all had to do with our nicotine intake. And your body to adopt to the new way. If it is not enough you should ask a cigarette. You came a long way (Think how important to smoke only 5 cigarettes.) There is not a rule. This is not a compelling system. In a couple of days you will think they are really bad after all. Dont ever fight with them

Sounds to me like you are really making progress! Hang in there! My attitude when I started the e cig was--I will smoke when I want one. I was amazed that I really didn't want many. At first I had one in the morning and one after dinner. One morning I just didn't really want one and started vaping instead. Still had one after dinner....
Don't be hard on yourself--you are doing great!! I will agree with the others that suggested you up your nic a bit. That really helped me!

Congrats and just take it one day at a time!

I tried vaping to see if it would be a viable alternative to smoking.
I allowed myself to smoke what I wanted while trying it.
Within a couple of days I was only smoking 3-6 per day and they were unsatisfying.
I'd tell myself I'll "reward" mayself if I go another hour without smoking.
The "reward" showed me how much cleaner & tastier vaping was.
And I didn't have to go outside to do it.
I refused to beat myself up when i bought another pack when the first ran out.
When I started I gave myself permission to try it without shaming myself.

I smoked 1.5 packs between my first e-gig puff and totally quitting.
It gets better fast and keeps getting better lots.

It'll work if you want it to. Forgive yourself for being human and vape on :vapor:
