I had an interesting conversation with a vape shop owner/attendant last year(who happened to be a doctor of Medicine & Pulmonology in his main job). He advised strongly to vape as little liquid as possible(2ml-4ml) per day, since "mucociliary dysfunction" can be something happening to you, resulting in coughing, colored mucus etc. He also advised to raise nic level, if necessary to consume liquid in a reasonable amount.

Then again, he was a MTL vaper, like me.

My neurologist is also the Assistant Chief of Staff at the hospital he's affiliated with. I asked him what he thought about vaping. He said that some time back, he had posed the same question to a couple of pulmonologists he was eating lunch with. They were both certain that it was less harmful than smoking. Then one of them told my doctor that if someone vapes for 20 years, they still don't know what to expect. But if someone smokes for 20 years, they know exactly what to expect.
Thing 1: Definitely harmful to health -- often severely so -- with long term use.
Thing 2: Clearly not generally harmful to health with short term use.
Possibly somewhat harmful with long term use.

Obvious choice to most, you'd think.

Can VG/PG get rotten ?
The consensus is that their molecules are very stable and so the liquids will last a long time. Just how long is an open question. A few years in good conditions is probably safe; too much longer might be iffy. They should be stored in tinted/amber glass bottles, air-tight, and kept in a cool, dark place to maximize their lifespan. Glass Bottle Outlet -- which sells through their own site & via Amazon -- has good bottles with good caps.
Some folks who've been at this much longer than i could surely give you better details but these are the basics I've picked up.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well I smoked for about 20 years before I started vaping. So when I get emphysema or lung cancer, I wonder which one they'll blame it on.

Anything can "get rotten" given enough time. I discovered like at least a 5 year old pack of Benson and Hedges soft packs of tobacco, back I think when I ran out, like, they didn't have American spirits in stock and like, so I got B&H because I smoked them in England where the VICES are GOOD but the harm reduction is EVEN BETTER. I mean vaping stores in hospitals, swoon.

Anyway they sucked and I smoked 2 and was like GROSS and they sat in there and even my husband declined to smoke one, even when I offered him money, and when he said, "We are married we SHARE money, idiot." So I was like, "Fine, then I need 200 dollars and I will give you... other non monetary remuneration and he STILL declined. That is how "bad" they were. Even if I were smoking 3 ppd still, I would not have smoked them.

Well, maybe.............. On a dare.

I keep them around to scare off the homeless.;

NO one is smoking these I am telling you, it's kind of like a real life pack of cigarettes that SHOWS you what smoking does. They're all oily and gross and... Yeah.

So, you know, be reasonable about your e-liquids. If you DIY, do not use lead containers. Don't throw VG in the dishwasher into a gas can and set fires around it and wait for it to cool off, that won't be good that type of thing.

But these are all REASONABLE PRECAUTIONS. Like, common sense. If you have to ask 17 pulmonologists the majority of the ones that aren't brainwashed are gonna tell you it is OVERALL safer although they may all have various pet theories on 'Safer." DON'T VAPE TOO MUCH!! VAPE unflavored ONLY! That type of thing.

We all have our acceptable risk levels and I think that's fine. I did not try my very first ever vape liquids from 12 years ago because they looked.... Not very nice at all. I was curious but I refrained.

I drink a TON of Diet Pepsi. I agree it's bad for me but compared to what I used to get up to I am going to wait a few years to quit. I firm faith the coroner will not be standing over my body going, "This woman died of her diet Pepsi addiction." Pretty sure.

You may be able to find some studies from way back based on the use of PG and or VG I can't remember in things like inhalers for medical uses. Nowadays there's not a whole lot of government-funded science being done in my opinion I'm probably wrong but I feel like corporations are the ones that are driving science nowadays and they only really publish at studies if they either can promote their product or if they can reword it to sound like a positive. I am jaded as heck so you might not even want to listen to me but as far as the PG VG you'll probably find some medical stuff since it is in a certain inhalers and stuff I believe

The NIH still funds biosciences and stuff, but it's not like it used to be.

Also, a sign of being "published" like in Nature magazine is a BAD sign now, you really want to leave it moldering on the old NCBI website quietly offering information as it collects dust.

Do not trust any "media outlets" with things like "studies" "polls" and "election results." They make most of it up, as MUCH as they can get away with.

Then 17 months later after lives are ruined, they will publish a 6 point font "retraction" and it's too late.

Know they sources honestly if you really want to get into the nitty gritty you need that um. it may have been discontinued "Encarta?" it was like the search engine for those in the science/medical field it was great. I had free access ages ago, like way back in the old days. I think @AvaOrchid is right though. And you would have to extrapolate to many many many more times a day I don't know how that works.

I agree, but I don't feel that I get what I need from below 450°F.
When using TC, I usually vape on 460 - 480 (depends on the mod).
Most of the time I vape with 18 - 22 Watt (MTL no TC).
I'm curious...
What coil, mod, and settings are you vaping on?
Considering the inefficient way TC is done in most mods, I have my doubts you're actually vaping at these temps, especially MTL.

I use self made SS coils 0.25 - 0.5 ohm in different Kayfun and OBS Engine MTL tanks.
Mods ? I use different. Mostly Eleaf Pico and JAC Vapour Series-B DNA 75w.

@HigherStateD , I don't know, I only use TC as a warning for a fluid refill when I use 'all steel' Kayfun tanks and don't see the amount of juice left. I usually set TC to 460 F.
If my mod is set to 460°, I'd be burning all different parts of my mouth, and the wick would scorch long before I'd get any dry hit warning from the TC throttling at all. Your using 316316 for the coil? What tcr value? Somewhere between 92 and 105?

ETA: at about 280 and below, the vape production should really start to taper off, but it would be noticable below 330.
