Hello all,

Purely out of interest and curiosity, this mostly revolves around what are peoples experiences have been like whilst switching to vaping from cigarettes, but also for those who have always vaped rather than smoked.

Those who started vaping without being smokers, what made you start ?

Those who switched to vaping, aside from the obvious health benefits, were there any other motives ?

How was the support from family & friends, work colleagues and social groups when switching to vaping from analogs ?

Where they understanding, helpful, considerate.. or has anyone had negative experiences ?

If at a pub/club/bar, have strangers/friends ever asked you annoying/interesting questions/statements about a PV you are using ? If so any amusing stories or comments about them ?

For myself..

I switched because I figured it was cheaper than rollups, the girlfriend hated it, and good lord i never realized how much the smell clings to EVERYTHING !

My family was great, work colleagues gave me a proper ribbing at first, but in a kind way. My social groups have been excellent at accepting the change, even if they thought it a bit odd to begin with.

I've had a few "What the f*^k is that ?" comments, but that's about the most negative I've had from strangers. Most will look rather puzzled for a while and then leave me to it.

The best comment i've had so far was from a very inebriated male who saw me smoking my PV, somehow made it over to me from the other side of the smoking area, with wide eyes in amazement and said "My god, how have you managed to bring the disco lights out from inside !?" And then promptly fell flat on his back, I've never laughed so hard from a single comment !

I'd be interested to hear other peoples !

Hi ACQPL,

I used to be a very heavy smoker - on average 50 a day  So for me it was for financial as well as health reasons that I bought my first e-cig, nearly 5 & a half years ago. As you can imagine, I've not only seen a lot of changes to e-cigs in that time but also people knowing about them.

My friends & family were very pleased & supportive & so was my GP :)

Well let's see, I smoked marlboro reds for 15 years; from age 15-30. During this time I mostly smoked a pack a day. I got introduced to vaping by my cousin. He told me he had quit cigarettes, he later told me he was using e-cigs. I totally thought he was talking about blucigs or whatever are commonly found at gas-stations/grocery stores. One day he came over with his ego-c twist and an assortment of vivi-novas with juices. I tried them and thought to myself "I can see myself doing this". I was sick of smoking and hadn't enjoyed them for a long time. I just couldn't stop and had tried many methods to do so with no avail.

Long story short, I stared vaping and haven't looked back. I don't use egos or vivi-novas anymore :D, this all seem like a long time ago even though it is not (6 months).

I don't really care what people think about it, all though it does upsets me when people imply that vaping is the same as smoking; I wish people could see it differently. To me vaping has nothing to do with smoking except for how it looks. I did have a guy tell me at school the other day that my PV looked like a "dildo" lol. It was a very small mod too.

I like vaping a lot more than I ever did smoking. Ok maybe not my after-meal smoke (probably the only one I enjoyed in the whole day). Also a did enjoy smoking and drinking coffee quite a bit and it is not really the same with vaping. I like that I don't stink anymore and I can vape indoors without stinking everything up and having over-flooded ashtrays everywhere.

My coworker was the first to show me an ecig other than the blu/ cig-a-likes. Took one hit off his and decided to try a starter kit of my own. Less than 2 weeks later I stopped buying analogs cause they just didn't taste right. My dad had started doing the same about a month before me and he bought me an ego twist, 2 kanger t3s tanks and gave me his mvp2 that had "too many options" for him. Ie I had great support. Best comment was walking out from a guy I don't know said "..., is that a crack pipe?"
