Hi fellow vaper, I have been wondering;
-What was your nicotine strength when you switched to vaping? (mg/mL)
-How many cigarettes did you use to consume per day before switching?
-Have you ever experienced shortness of breath after switching for a while?
-Does 12mg irritate your lungs at all?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you, happy vaping! <3

vaping for more than eleven years now.
Answers:
18mg+ ... as high as 28 in the beginning.
30
Nothing like what I did as a smoker!
No

If you're experiencing irritation, it could well be components of your liquid other than nicotine. PG is a common culprit, although it doesn't bother me.
I vape nearly pure PG.
If you're bothered by shortness of breath, I'd suggest a visit to your doctor is in order.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-What was your nicotine strength when you switched to vaping? (mg/mL)
18mg/ml (now down to 6mg, but use 12mg for low powered stealthy setups now and then)

-How many cigarettes did you use to consume per day before switching?
50-60 - full flavor filters and non-filters

-Have you ever experienced shortness of breath after switching for a while?
Never

-Does 12mg irritate your lungs at all?
No

-What is your favorite VG/PG value?
50/50 (I don't know if it's my "favorite" but it's what I always vaped and never tried anything else)

I smoked on and off. I can't say if was a "bad smoker", but it was either no smoking for a day to two packs to smoking pipe tobacco cigars. Basically anything to get nicotine.

I vaped the JUUL 50mg pods years ago and I never smoked for a many weeks, but it is way too expensive and not reliable.

I recently tried puff bar style 50mg disposables. They are great, but I wanted to get less nicotine so I tried 24mg or 18mg VUSE alto pods. So far they great. I cut down to a pack a cigarettes a week and one or two cigarettes a day before vaping. I also wanted to go back to vaping because I don't want to smoke a full pack of cigarettes when I drink.

My smelling and taste came back and I find I breathe better. I also notice my house was way more dirty that I didn't notice from smoking.

I was at 48mg+ when I first started but I also smoked 1 - 2 or more packs a day and I smoked cloves which are more like a cigar than a cigarette....but once my nic fits stopped I was able to drop down to 24mg and then slowly drop my nic until now I'm down to 1.5mg

no not really shortness of breath, well aside from being an ex-heavy smoker with asthma and bad allergies
but there is an adjustment period from smoking to vaping and if you remember when you first started smoking it didn't feel too good on the lungs either but yet you kept on smoking ;)
plus your body is finally starting to get rid of all that tar and other buildup in your lungs
however as I've mentioned (a few times) in your other thread, if it is really concerning you, you really should speak to a doctor and you do not at all have to tell them you are vaping.

I do not like a throat hit so I use max vg

another thing that you could try is to not inhale the vape...just hold it in your mouth and then exhale...with vaping, unlike smoking, you don't need to inhale it into your lungs, the nicotine can be absorbed in your mouth. When I first started vaping I could not inhale it, later I found out that's because I have issues with pg so yeah....that and my lungs were healing from all the abuse they took and collapsing and all that fun stuff....
so you could try that instead of inhaling the vape into your lungs, just hold it in your mouth for a bit then exhale until your lungs have had a chance to heal....but again, you really should talk to a doctor because there could be something else going on (ie something viral, or adult onset asthma, etc, something that only the doctor would be able to determine or rule out)

You've expressed concerns before...
Shortness of breath and lungs aching after vaping?
A doctor visit would seem to be in order. Your problem might not even be vape-related. But, a forum is no place to get medical advice.

Oh my god thank you everyone I am about to explode of the love and care that I've been filled with by the "strangers" of this forum :D

I think yeah I goofed up because of me being relatively new to this stuff since yeah me smoking barely a pack a day and calling myself a "heavy smoker" and straight out trying to direct lung 12mg freebase makes me look back in shame and say: what the hell was I thinking dude? XD
I am currently very happy with my 6mg which I am having absolutely no problems with. Thank you sooo much for the advice!

I can not see a doctor as of now, but I did an in-home covid test and after carelessly shoving a stick to my brain in suspicions, I tested negative, but I will see a doctor somewhere in the future to say ya'know this and this happened.

Thanks to every single one of you, I have been smoke-free for 3 days which might not seem like anything to you, but it is a huuuuuge deal for me. I now look back and say how in earth I put that stuff into myself in disgust and no urge for the cancer sticks.

Thank you very much, everyone! Happy vaping cuz u deserve it you are amazing people!

If 6mg juice satisfies your nicotine craving, then stick with it. I was a 2 PAD smoker who quit by vaping 24mg juice and that satisfied my cravings. Eventually, I lowered my nic level to 3mg and have been there for about 12 years. When I quit smoking and started vaping 24mg juice was supposed to be equal to smoking full flavored cigarettes.

Vape whatever satisfies your nic needs and adjust as necessary to stay off the cigs. Congratulations on making the switch!

I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker. (1 pack a day during the week, 2 a day on the weekends)

I made the switch to vaping with 18mg Strawberry flavored juice and a low output "pen" device.

Depending on what I'm doing, I'll vape 50mg (salts), 18mg and 7mg. Mostly unflavored however I've been known to 'squank' flavored juices (see profile image).

While I've never had shortness of breath or 'lung' issues there are times where I need to 'train' my throat to handle my vaping.

I was a chain smoker. I started out on 36mg/ml, but that was on high ohm/ low wattage cig-a-likes. As batteries got bigger and better, I lowered my nic level. Then I just started lowering it on my own from 18mg to my current 6mg. I have always used straight VG (I DIY) but recently started vaping a 70VG/30PG store bought liquid. I have not noticed a change in the way my lungs feel with the added PG.

I am still a high ohm/low wattage vaper compared to most I think. Typical for me is Zenith tank with 1.6 ohm coils at 11-ish watts. Though I got bold this week and loaded up a .5 Plexus coil that I am vaping at 14 watts (still 6mg nic level). My first "sub-ohm" experience. ;) :vapor:

Before I stopped smoking and started vaping, I got bronchitis and was getting pneumonia every year, each year worse than the last. Since I've been vaping, I breathe much better and I have not gotten so much as a chest cold. Doctor tells me my lungs are clear.

I switched on 18mg ejuice using an ego battery and a clearomiser.. consumption was a little over 1ml a day, as a 10ml bottle of juice lasted me right at 1 week...

Before I made the switch I had serious lung issues/COPD. My lips would turn blue just walking to the mailbox, and I had to take 2 or 3 rest breaks on the way there. I was literally suffocating...

So I spoke to my doctor about vaping to get off the cigarettes and then bought the ego.

    I was a 2PAD smoker for 32 years - Marlboro reds.

That's the backdrop. Then I switched to vaping as soon as I got everything in the mail.

I coughed a LOT... at times so hard I would end up vomiting. What I was coughing up out of my lungs was weird. At first it was almost like water coming up, maybe for around a week... Then it was weird brown goop.. the coughing fits persisted, but the more crap I coughed out of my lungs, the better I was able to breathe...

By 3 or 4 months of vaping the coughing ended, and by 6 months I could breathe better than I could even remember due to being unable to breathe so long.

I coupled the switch with exercise at around the two week mark, and could walk a mile without being winded by the 6 month mark..

Not everyone coughs, I did because I was just that sick from smoking more than likely.

I smoked maybe 17 cigs a day for about 36 yrs.

I started with 18 mg/ml for about a year. Then reduced to 12 mg for about 3 yrs. Then reduced to 6mg and been with it for 4 yrs.

Breathing & sinus pressure improved right away. No throat irritation unless coil is burned up.

70pg/30vg or, 65pg/35vg. I like the throat hit with higher pg. Also, and I'm not sure about this, but l think lower vg makes glass in the house and windows in the car less hazy/cloudy.

Everyone's experience is so different. It depends on so many factors like the vaping gear you are using, pg/vg ratio in your eliquid, how much you vape daily... I was a heavy smoker and switched (2011) using cigalikes starting at 12mg but quickly found I vaped too much for that and had to drop to 6mg, now for the last 7 years, with much better vaping gear, I'm at 3mg. Back then everything was high PG eliquids, 70pg/30vg was common, later when I tried to up my VG ratio I didn't do well with that, chest heaviness and other not fun symptoms and went back to 70/30.
If you are experiencing issues it never hurts to see your doctor, it might not be vaping related at all considering you were a smoker.

    Somewhere out there
I had trouble with high VG when I first started vaping, gave me a painful heavy chest. Higher PG worked better for me. Now I barely inhale anymore, to give my lungs a break :) I just vape for flavors so do a shallow intake of Vapor. I started at 12 mg nic and now down to 3 mg. I used to smoke about a 1/2 to a pack a day. Seems weird to think about smoking because I have vaped for 10 yrs now.
