You have to take into account the fact that, for longterm vapers, the early equipment available was pretty dire. I started out on 24mg nicotine but the amount of vapour produced from a clearomiser on an Ego battery was mimimal.
Technology has evolved to the point that the amount of vapour produced by todays kits greatly surpasses anything from the 2010s....
The volume of vapour is paramount. In the early days i would use around 2-3ml of 24mg a day. Now i use 6-7ml of 12/18mg. Same number of puffs per day but an increase in nicotine intake. I can live with that !
I admit that i can, on occasion, find myself wheezing after a 'heavy' session of vaping. A break from vaping (and a cough) usually stops that. If i believe i have vaped too much in a day i will switch to non-inhaling for a bit. Draw the vapour into the mouth and exhale through the nose.

Before I stopped smoking and started vaping, I got bronchitis and was getting pneumonia every year, each year worse than the last. Since I've been vaping, I breathe much better and I have not gotten so much as a chest cold. Doctor tells me my lungs are clear.

Same with me. Shortly after the weather turned cold I'd come down with whatever was going around. Since vaping, my general health has been much better. I hardly ever get a cold or a sinus infection since starting to vape.

Hi fellow vaper, I have been wondering;
-What was your nicotine strength when you switched to vaping? (mg/mL)
-How many cigarettes did you use to consume per day before switching?
-Have you ever experienced shortness of breath after switching for a while?
-Does 12mg irritate your lungs at all?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you, happy vaping! <3

2PAD Marlboro Reds for over 20 years. I switched to Carltons for another 10 years and settled on Merit Ultra lights a couple of years before vaping. I can't believe that my lungs are healthy and clear after all that. Several X-rays and a couple of CT scans have verified clean lungs after vaping for about 12 years. Prior to vaping there were hazy areas on my lungs.

I took to vaping about five years ago at age 66.

When young and carefree I smoked up to three packets of strong unfiltered British Virginia cigarettes a day (Senior Service, Player's, Capstan Full Strength ).

In my 20s with a wife and family to keep in the standard to which they would like to have been accustomed, I switched to a pipe for financial reasons and puffed away at it getting through two ounces of the strongest cheapest tobacco I could find ( Condor Long Cut) and inhaled a lot of the smoke as most pipemen actually do.

Since switching to Vaping I've stuck with 16 to 18 strength menthol or unflavoured liquid using a low power device ( 8 watts ) with coils of up to and including 1.6 ohm coils and get through about 30 mlls of this a week.

    Now I vape 12mg 50/50 PG/VG

    add:
I was 68 when I stopped smoking, so yes, I very much suffered from shortness of breath. And, the damage to my lungs was to server to ever fully recover ............
    But I'm Still Alive!!!!!!!

-What is your favorite VG/PG value?
    - 36 down to 24 when I was buying 'premium' eliq, 25 now that I'm mixing down my own eliq.
    - 1/2 pack to a whole pack.
    - No.
    - I haven't used any liqs with that level so I can't say it wouldn't, but I can say it doesn't..
    - 80ish/20ish PG/VG

    18mg MTL
I chain vape, and only dropped down in strength when my setups got cloudier, or I started getting nic sick from chain vaping. I'm at 8mg now, and have been for over a year.

-How many cigarettes did you use to consume per day before switching?

    1-2 packs a day

-Have you ever experienced shortness of breath after switching for a while?

No. My lung capacity as a smoker was surprisingly good. I went from not being able to run 250m, to completing a 10km run over a 6 month period. That was a year before I switched to vaping.

The difference in my lung capacity now is HUGE.

-Does 12mg irritate your lungs at all?

    No, not MTL
