No you need 2 x 3.7 volt batteries for the Buzz Dave !
We regulate the 7.4 volts down to what your setting is

i knew that the buzz regulates down with a potentiometer, didnt know if it had a booster in order to use a single batt. ive read a bit about batts and am wondering how safe 2 3.7v batts are when they are used in series (stacked)?

Well we use PRotected Batteries AND the BUZZ has protection built it to it as well , to date NO issues have been reported even with a dead short ! ( that is when the problems will arise )
Statistically 2 batteries will be more likely to have problems , I have not been able to find anything on the web that shows that to be the case but pure math does say so .

thanks buzz!
No problem Dave , I researched this very thoroughly when I built the Buzzzzzzzzzzzz

Two unprotected batteries are the ones that explode. The protection circuit usually clicks in on protected batts. Besides like Mike said, the Buzz is the best protected pv you can get.

5Card is right the unprotected batteries are where the problem lies , we also have current over load in the Buzz that keeps it from trying to draw too much current , this is one thing that causes batteries to fail

i believe the AW batts are 3.7 volts. are 3.0v better? i just got the buzz last friday so it should be one of the newer units. :)
also, whats the deal with "high drain" batts?
Are they 3.7 volts ?? make sure a 3.0 volt battery will lower the max voltage output and not last as long

Oh wait you have a newer unit , we removed the low voltage IC from them now ( it was shorting out and causing failures ! ) so it should last longer on 3.0 volt batts !

You want 3.7 volt for full adjustment range on the Buzz .

High drain batteries are designed to output a higher maximum current like 5-10 amps , they are made differently internally .

With a regular atty / cartoz our current draw is down around 2 amps , this is where the normal batteries like to operate and increases the charge time of them so you get a longer charge cycle . ( I.E. they last longer between charges )

I am using the grey ultrafire ICR 123a batteries but it doesnt actually say they are protected on the batteries, does this mean they are unprotected? I will try and include apicture.

Did the Blemish's have the low voltage IC? Should I be concerned?
