Is that just automatic, they all need to be changed periodically? So, you know its time to change these......when? When you have burnt taste? What's strange is we both have an Itaste, and a tank will work on one and not the other, and vice versa.
This definitely sounds like gear. Being a vaper you will have to be well accustomed to performing habitual maintenance. I personally change my wicks and dry burn (gunk) once every single day unless I'm using a crystal clear juice such as a fruit which tend to gunk up much less. Then again, I also vape nothing but 100% VG so it's likely even more important for me to keep things tip-top.
Not all gear is the same, either. Some, such as rebuildables, are designed for quick and easy access and maintenance, as well as generally being dry-burnable. An iClear 16, 30, 30S, etc are polycarbonate tanks. You can dry burn these but you'll probably want to take the drip guard off the top of the stem so you don't expose the rubber to any heat sources. I would not recommend trying to change the wicks out as you'd likely ruin the coil.
Anyway, my point is that it's different for every type of gear. The one thing that stays the same however: when you're getting burnt hits it's time to replace something.
And is is there a tank you can buy that doesn't need replacing the coils? Not that I can't change them out I'm just wondering.
No. All coils eventually go bad. Even the most well maintained RDA will build up oxygenation which reduces the efficiency of the coil.... but they can sometimes last 3-6+ months if you do take this well care of them. Pre-built coils tend to gunk up faster while rebuildables have an edge in this regard. Ultimately you should stick with what's working for you and learn more about the other types of gear as you are looking to improve your setup and vape quality.
Baby steps! We've all been in your situation and it was the same for us. Get some of those replacement heads and keep them on standby, so when you do start to get burnt hits you can quickly replace it. I've also found
a video showing how to clean/dryburn them for you, so if you want to perform some maintenance on them and keep them going longer now you can. It will be different depending what iClear version you have but roughly the same idea.
Good luck
