Like many others I started with an ego twist and an evod. Still use it often. Hasn't let me down after a year of abuse.

I started with a blu. Introduced to it hanging with a friend. Liked the cig like auto batttery and PCC case and the tobacco flavor was enjoyable. Interestingly enough the tobacco cartos had a coffee-like aftertaste! The first carto had a nice drag bit subsequent cartos had less pleasant drag and the other flavors were awful! Cherry tasted like robotussin. 6 months later I have an Ego Twist 1100mah, with nano 2.8 clearomizers and a handful of smoke tech 2.3-2.8 ohm cartomizers. Happy with the clearomizers and the twist. One try and I left blu in the dust.
My first e-cigarette experience was horrible: at the behest of my girlfriend I had to quit smoking, and mom (ever helpful) sent me a "Freedom Tek" rechargeable pack that she picked up at a gas station. It tasted like pure garbage and gave me a headache. I didn't try again until about a year and a half later when I picked up a joyetech rechargable batter with a cheap tank. I've upgraded since then but that basic set up has lasted me until now, about 2 years in, and I couldn't be happier with it.
Started with a ego model style electronic cigarette, Needed more mechanical control of my vapes., moved on quickly to mechanical devices that to this day evolves like. the advent of portable phones. I bring my old school engraving skills to embellish mechanical mods.

I first tasted njoys, they were sorta meh.. Moved to a 900mah ego w ce4 topper and it was acceptableish.. Then it broke.. Took me a year or so to get back into vaping.. But i'm hooked now! First thing that I knew would work was the mvp v2.. Now it's just love!

I started with an EVOD. It worked great, but I wanted more. Bought a Provari, then a KFL+ and Trident. Then a Silverback and a Paradigm Magma.

bought an evod vv battery with a nautilus aspire tank based on a friends advice; now I use a magneto mod use the aspire as my driving tank and either a omega or a trident v2 for home
I started with an evod and a vv vision 1300 battery. Then got a protank 2 mini. Next I upgraded to a King Kong vv mod, with a protank aerotank. Now I have the King Kong mod with an Aspire Nautilus waiting for my eVic Supreme to arrive.

I tried the NJoy first from the convenience store. Two days later got an EVOD starter kit from the local vape shop. It was cool, but I felt weird and sort of embarrassed using it. So I ordered a Halo G6 starter kit that looked more like a regular cigarette (except in pink!) During that time I was just trying not to smoke. Now I've turned a corner and LOVE VAPING!!! I just got an Ego Twist 1000 mah battery and love it! I got more evod tanks in every color so I can use the blue one for my blueberry, the green one for my green tea, etc. The iTaste VV V3, the MVP, a hot pink Smoketech SID, and definitely a Provari are all in my future.
Don't laugh, a V2 starter kit. I stepped from there to a Volt X2, and currently have one of those in my mouth right now. I do also use the Volt Spinner, which I like.
In retrospect, I probably should have gone with an eGo thread, but such is life. And I like the fact that the Volt models are automatic as I don't usually have a hand free for the button of a manual (I know, First World Issues).

That was one of the things I liked about the eRoll also, that it was auto. The button pressing kinda wigged me out, at first, when I would be tasting juices at the B&M. But I got over it very quickly when I got my first vv3, and then I think my inner-button-pressing-geek came out to play. The vv3 has a *lot* of buttons.
