LOL that you work in a psych hospital- me too! Depending on the unit, staffing, and acuity I know where you're coming from about not getting a break.

Cool! What's the primary age group/dx category you work with? Our hospital takes ages 6 to geriatric and CD. I usually work with the adults, and CD. Sometimes psych ICU (severely psychotic or schizophrenic, DID, or violent) Sometimes teenagers, but very rarely the kiddos (least favorite unit and have requested not to work with them, heavy duty behavioral problems and not really psych)

So glad to hear someone relates!

I am in school ~ going for my Masters for counseling Psych :)

I just hit the halfway mark in my nurse practitioner masters program........family mental psych NP! The stuff we see..... :(

I dont stealth vape either, but the wife works in a call center(cable company) and the breaks there arent great either...she usually uses ego 650's and evod's, but keeps a couple 350 mah mini's and evods for stealth mode...there is no policy on e-cigs at work, but they take away everything else to pass time (books and whatnot, e-readers...etc) so out of fear they will take that too....stealth mode to the rescue haha...they just assume she dont, because she is outside vaping on breaks like everyone else.

Same stuff as you- little hellions to old, short term as a rule. Home unit is adolescent, but rarely work there thank God. I exhibit self harming behaviors when forced to work with wee ones (bang my head against the wall!). I don't have kids for a reason! My favorite population is adult CD. I'm a fairly new nurse, LPN- 2 yrs. Need to go back to school for my RN, but can't afford to right now. And I'm old and don't know if I want to put myself through another bout of hell that is nursing school. Masters is impressive, but counselors/therapists don't get paid nearly enough for the crap they have to put up with!

At least with my vaping as my vice instead of smoking, I can find other places to work without the added anxiety of no nicotine. I'm pretty sure I could hide a little ego pretty well if I had to.
