what do you think about going w/ an e-go if you're a (relative) beginner?

As I posted last night, I started w/ Blu; was unsatisfied w/ battery life and inability to repeatedly "hit" (not to mention the astonishingly bad customer service) and killed the atomizer dripping last week.

Just got paid, and shopping for something new. Wondering what the experts think about going w/ a janty ego instead of a 510 kit? I'm seeing uniform raves for this new product, and wonder if anyone sees any potential drawbacks (other than the higher price).

Also, who are some reputable sellers who are selling this? I'm just checking every vendor and if anyone has already done this research, please let me know.

Thank you for all of your help! This forum is really great for welcoming newcomers, and I really, really appreciate everyone's input.

I like my TorneGo, even though it is just a 510 with a better battery and I am not too fond of the original 510. The battery makes a huge difference in (obviously) run time, as well as in the way the device feels in your hand, and call me crazy but, I feel it produces a better tasting vape than the 510. ?? It has a much more stylish look. And instead of the silly end tip LED, its LED is integrated in the power switch. Much more elegant, imo.

If I could do it all over again, I would have skipped over the 510s and just bought a TorneGo to start with. Honestly though, even it isn't my favorite PV.

Janty has the eGo, Totally Wicked sells the same device branded the Tornado.

The downside of a 510 kit is the battery or that the atty is so good because it runs a bit hotter and uses up more power. So, to compensate for that, people that used to smoke more than a 1/2 a pack a cigs a day, need a passthrough (to save on battery recharges) and a PCC - for when you're on the go. So... that's another $40-60 after shipping and after the initial cost of the starter kit. (and yeah, you can get PCC kits and passthrough kits for a bit less but most need both the PT and PCC)

With the TorneGo ;-) you get two batts that last 6-7+ hour each (ymmv) and it really eliminates the need for (and cost of) a PT and PCC. If you're gone for 16 hours a day, get another batt or a mega batt - you're still using the same parts. Or skip the starter kit and torneGo altogether and get a Bartleby for $50 and a few 510 attys. lol.

I can't link back just yet (still need a few more posts) however, I would take a look at the issues people are having with the batteries. Mainly because I just had one short out. The button wasn't lit up at all, but it was sending power to the atomizer and NOT shutting off.

I ordered mine... and when it's working it's FANTASTIC <3 it <3 it so much. But, it blew an atty the first week in (could have easily been a faulty atty). And just yesterday evening, one of the batteries decided to go full out and stay *on*. Blowing the atty they just replaced (yay me right?). So, today yet another trip to the post office to mail off for replacement. Damn damn close to my 30 days too.

I don't think it matters what you order, there's gonna be a downside and issues. But, for this to be such a popular problem with the batteries, it's a pretty big downside. TW's forums and this forum is full of them. I'm not sure what the percentage rate is but, there are quite a few posting about the buttons sticking and staying on.

Just be informed this could be a problem. The second your button sticks, send it back. I wouldn't wait until it shorts out or something... like... I did. (You know, that whole "If I had it to do over again..." ... yeah, wouldn't wait)

Good luck )

I'm going to cross my fingers on the battery issue and get an ego, I think. They're pretty big though, aren't they? But all in all, think it is the best option for the $$$.

But have you all id'd where you can GET these? The fact that they're all branded differently makes it difficult. So far, have identified totallywicked, wordupecig, and janty itself. Sadly, all are out of the "platinum." That's not a dealbreaker, but I'd like to get one if I can and also just further comparison shop: anyone know of other vendors?

Thanks all!

I just took a look at the TW boards... I usually hang out in the Ask Nick forum when I go there... Anyway, perhaps the comments on batteries are buried in some other forum but I checked the 'Tornado' forum and saw three incidences where people were posting problems with the batteries. In two instances - they cleaned the contacts and got them back working and the other one that 'quit' was the atty not the battery.

That said, I have seen a few 'stuck switch' posts at the Janty forum here and also at the TW forum but it doesn't look like an 'epidemic' compared to the number of people in the forums here that have reported having bought and love them ;-) Many models have their share of problems - esp. on V1.

Well, for the sake of honesty one of my two batteries arrived DOA. TW gave me a make good offer. Any manufactured product is subject to defects.

It's worth noting here that Janty is introducing an XL battery. It's an extra 10 mm in length, and ups the standard's 651 mAH to 751 mAH, a 15% increase. Nice!

The eGO/Tornado is a GREAT choice IMO. Don't get too concerned with any problems you may see in any forum about the batteries as there's just as much chance to have problems with any PV you purchase. I'm liking my Tornado so much that when Janty gets 5 packs of manual eGO batteries back in stock, I'm ordering them immediately.

Gonna try and skirt the link thing
e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/totally-wicked-e-liquid/71729-problem-tornado-battery.html

add the h t t p and w w w ? Theres one, and TW forum is being slow. Was quite a few to me. And personally, I kinda look at it as maybe 1 out of 5 people who have an issue actually post about it (or are even on forums? ... number is completely made up, but just a thought)

I truly do hope things work out for you and your order, anouk!) Like I said, when it's working I do <3 the Tornado.
TW has the kit, 30 days to replace parts. I'm not sure about any other place that carries them because... well, didn't buy from them. Even with the faulty items, I must say their customer service has been great to me. Exceeding the product. ;o)

Yep. That's my basic point. And hey thanks for the eGo info. Hadn't heard that. I have four T batts now - so far so good.

Ok. I've seen them. I thought you meant TW's own forum on their site.

Possible. But from my experience it's about 100% of the people who have problems, post them ...and about 90% of the people that have no problems don't mention it. :)

Pretty sure the Janty warranty is the better one. They're 6 months on other things.

I meant here /and/ TW's own forum, not sub-forum here. Wish I had known about Janty before TW. Live and learn though right?

I post good things too!! Promise ;o)
Uhm... lessee *temp hijack* I have an excellent passthrough from kingpin. And they had an awesome little deal on atty's so far all those are good. Annnd... cappella's flavoring rocks my socks. Annnd the blu I got is a great back up but nowhere near equivelant annnnd... ;o) I promise, once I get done being overwhelmed, I'll post more good schtuffs *end temp hijack*

Me personally I won't buy a thing from TW..ever...I mean I'd rather spend the extra $ to buy a ticket and fly to china and attemt to buy it at the factory than give them a cent...

but saving that...heres the lowdown:
TW comes with 2 atomizers, 10 carts, and a standard 510 charger with a charging adapter..and a 28 day warranty..platinum is reported to be more of a goldish tint than platinum

Janty has 1 atty, 5 carts, and a usb fast charger and a 6 month warranty...silver is reported to be the same silver as the SS finish of other joye products in the SS finish but isn't really in stock yet..

Dietsmokes also carries the eGo and as such will honor the janty warranty..

Thanks for the rundown! I ended up going with Wordupecig, which has a very "no frills" web presence, but appeared to have the best customer service reviews (a special concern because of the battery plms mentioned above). Everyone's out of the silver/platinum, but I am very pleased to say after sending an email inquiring about when they'd be restocked, Jeff of Wordup called me (at like 2a his time, no less!). We talked for a quite a while, and I'm pretty certain I found a good one here. Obviously very, very customer focused, good warranty per the website, and per Jeff, he'll "back you so long as you're treating it right." He insisted that I call when I get it so that someone can walk me through priming the atomizer and setting it up, etc.

Anyway, he said they'll have more of the platinum in stock by Tuesday, and I placed an order. Said I'd get it via Priority Mail, so crossing my fingers for Saturday! Sick of stinking the place up w/ cigarettes again.
