Welcome!

I thought my Dr. was pretty up to date on things, but sadly not so much!

She thought it was great I quit smoking, but then said oh those are the things that use antifreeze? :glare:,

I explained what it was about and took her some printed info to peruse. I thought she'd be estatic, but she then went on to say "but you're going to quit using the c-cig to, right?"

Just saying be prepared, I think for me it's a major accomplishment and to be fortunate to have made the transition overnite, not easily done for many, from what I've read.

Let us know what they say!

I don't know what my regualr Dr will say...I don't get to see him very often. But I had a colonoscopy done a few weeks ago, and we were discussing smoking and colon cancer before the procedure, and HE was the one who asked me if I'd heard about the ecig. Told him I had just started using it, and he seemed very pleased. He said there were several there at the hospital who had been able to quit smoking using it. I'm sure there will be some mixed reviews from Drs, as not all of them are 'on board' yet, but I really don't care. I know it's TONS better than smoking.

I'm too chicken to tell mine. He knows I quit smoking but not that I started vaping.

Well if your lungs continue to heal despite switching to vaping, you'll both know how it's working for you lol

I had a trip to the ER awhile back and they asked me if I smoked. I said "No, but I use nicotine". The doctor looked puzzled and asked how I managed that and I told him I use an ecig. He just smiled, nodded and said "good"

I got my doctor to switch. She's two weeks behind me. Her and I both swap juices and have been stepping our nic down gradually. Her and I both enjoy vaping too much to completely stop. She always hated prescribing what the BP companies want her to prescribe because she knows how dangerous the drugs are. She now tells her patients to give vaping a try unless they request the drugs from her.

My wife's doctor was fine with it and his wife/assistant even asked where she could pick up one because she wanted to give some to some friends. I know another doctor that keeps a stash of EGO kits in his desk to give to his patients that smoke. Not to mention, last week I told a nurse that smokes about vaping and she drove across town immediately after her shift was over and purchased a kit and some juice. The funny thing is that I know a girl that works at a private bar that allows smoking but won't allow vaping because "that stuff is dangerous"...go figure.

After reviewing a large number of research reports posted by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the initial studies found a wide variation in the chemical structure of e-juice. Some e-juice was found to be contaminated with chemicals like diethylene glycol used in antifreeze. Due to the lack of long-term studies, little data was available on the health effects of contaminated e-juice. Based on what I've read, it's clear that one should not look for the lowest cost e-juice supplier. Find a reputable supplier. I also think it's time for e-juice suppliers to have independent testing labs certify the chemical makeup of their e-juice. The only health effect directly related to pure nicotine in the studies reviewed is that it raises blood pressure. A problem for those with existing high blood pressure.

Due to the popularity of e-cigs, funding for additional studies should be forthcoming.

My Dr. is happy I discovered e-cigs :D It's going to be interesting to see what he starts bugging me about next

I ended up in the ER last night and that Dr. asked me about smoking, I told her I used an e-cig & haven't had an analog in over a month. She listened to my lungs & in a somewhat questioning way asked if I have asthma (she treated me in the past in the ER) I said I did but haven't used any meds in 2 months. She smiled and told me to keep right on puffing on my e-cig. Lungs sounded great, clear & no crackling, and as long as I kept doing what I was doing I wouldn't need meds. :D

That was the best news, especially after smoking for 35 years.
