Everyone calls me the 'truck drivin mama' on my route where i deliver and even in the workplace. Been a delivery truck driver for a handful of years now and not many ladies in this line of work. Only a total of 5 where i work out of 70+ drivers. Was assigned as the shop steward as well since we are union so everyone calls me 'mama' even WAY before that movie Dredd came out.

Anyway, the name is just for laughs and who people know me as.

Shellac is a substance made from the secretion of the Lac bug. It is usually an orange or brown flake and can be readily dissolved in alcohol. Used as a wood finish, food coloring, electrical insulator, adhesive in watches and jewelry making. Also the name of one of the best bands ever. Have used it as a handle since the mid 90s.

makaluch [mock - uh - looch] . Translated from NYer-speak is 'Mark-a-Looch'

When I was a kid my Uncles would grab my face, pull their middle finger back, very far, and release....resulting in a stinging red mark right between my eyes. They called this torture technique a makaluch, and thought it was funny to call me that. It stuck well into my teens and my family back home still calls me that from time to time into my 40s.

They also use to hold me in the air by my ankles upside down, another would hold my hands down, and the third would quickly slap my bare belly 100,000 times really really fast; it's called a pink belly. I'm glad they chose to call me by the stinging red mark between my eyes instead...lol. And, I do not live in NY anymore...I miss my ...... Uncles sometimes...hehehe. :)
Funniest thing I've read in awhile.
Really says something good about you that you can embrace that name after all that abuse!

Mine is just after the old Roman emperor, and more specifically, the version portrayed in an old BBC series based on a Robert Grave's series of excellent novels. I stuttered a lot as a kid, still do occasionally, so the character always stuck with me.
The Fool part fits as well. Not the brightest shed in the pool..Uh..

I love Bernese Mountain Dogs, hence the name 'Berner', which is the shorthand name owners use to refer to the breed. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I'll put up a picture of mine (he's pretty cute, almost as cute as my daughter who is pictured with me in my avatar pic).

Damn, probably could have skipped this one and been better off ;)

Quantum is based on my exploration of physics concepts and theories like the paragraph below:

The current worldview has it that everything is made of matter, and everything can be reduced to the elementary particles of matter, the basic constituents — building blocks — of matter. And cause arises from the interactions of these basic building blocks or elementary particles; elementary particles make atoms, atoms make molecules, molecules make cells, and cells make brain. But all the way, the ultimate cause is always the interactions between the elementary particles. This is the belief — all cause moves from the elementary particles. This is what we call "upward causation." So in this view, what human beings — you and I think of as our free will does not really exist. It is only an epiphenomenon or secondary phenomenon, secondary to the causal power of matter. And any causal power that we seem to be able to exert on matter is just an illusion. This is the current paradigm.

Now, the opposite view is that everything starts with consciousness. That is, consciousness is the ground of all being. In this view, consciousness imposes "downward causation." In other words, our free will is real. When we act in the world we really are acting with causal power. This view does not deny that matter also has causal potency — it does not deny that there is causal power from elementary particles upward, so there is upward causation — but in addition it insists that there is also downward causation. It shows up in our creativity and acts of free will, or when we make moral decisions. In those occasions we are actually witnessing downward causation by consciousness.

As I said, DANGER...Nerd Alert!
