I've always thought your avatar was very striking! I can see why it's your favorite picture.

Thanks JoAnn :2cool: He's a very striking cat IMHO. And your little one there is so very adorable. It's funny that you said that's how he looks when you get on the computer. That's exactly what I thought he looked like. Like he was upset at being "neglected" lol

With that shiny coat he is obviously anything but!! lol

Did you see SK just released a new book in the series? Wind Through the Keyhole... Supposed to fit between The Wizzard and Glass and Wloves of the Calla... Only read the first chapter so far (free on iTunes)... So far so good...

Yeah Hops about halfway through it. It is very much a side story where the gunslinger sits down and tells everyone a fairy tale then the rest of the book is just that story. Doesn't mesh well with the tower books and feels like a cash in. The Marvel comic books however shed alot of light on the backstory before book 1. They are great.

About 6 months ago there was a lot of "chatter" that they were going to do a movie series and an HBO mini series, looks like that fell apart though... Hoping they get back on top of that!

Probably waiting for the graphic novel series to complete as that is what the HBO miniseries was going to be based off of.

What? I remember when I had an internal 2400 baud modem, and everyone was amazed that I could get on bulletin boards. They heard the modem, but could not see it! It probably cost about $100 at the time.

No usb ports... Had to manually configure the COM ports. Heck sound cards were a PITA. Remember "sound blaster compatible"?

I totally remember that which tells you how old I am. I helped my wife own and run a BBS back in the day. It was important to me because there were so few women doing computer stuff back then.

My avatar is just a cool pic of a guy riding a dirt bike. I used to ride enduros so it seemed appropriate.

Unhooked is just a goofy name I came up with. In the real world it would probably be considered inappropriate for me to be vaping, people are weird in my community, so I decided to remain quite anonymous and chose a username different from my normal one for the last 15 years.

Not trying to be nosy, but do you do this for a living? How are you at making logos?

I'm not a professional but I have made logos for sites many forum avatars and images for forum t shirts for their online store...etc. I have been using photoshop for maybe 8 years? It's fun at times....

As far as my avatar, I chose the dragonfly for it's symbolism - "The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self realization."
Love the dragonfly too! Good movie w/ Kevin Costner! Tatoo a couple years ago in memory of a favorite Aunt and Uncle who inspired me! Their initials are worked into the wings.

Memory lane ... for one of my first jobs I had to go a couple blocks down to the bank to rent time on their big computer. Anybody remember keypunch cards?
Think so - I do recall the tape to feed thru to send a telex at my first job!

Wow, I've been pronouncing it down size me (dw siz me).

J.R.
LOL! Me too! Must be a sign of our culture - everyone is "downsizing"!

there was the tune by steve miller band....abracadabra ..hearing the tune one day he yells out the lyrics...I wanta reach out and grab ya....then he points out to me..after a few drinkys...if you change the a to a e...it spells abraca(debra)...so its sorted stuck all these years
Always liked that song too! In fact every time I see your posts - that tune goes thru my head! Had the album til a couple years ago ... nothing to play it on so ...

I dunno, I look at my TV today, a flat screen, and wonder how they get all the tubes into it.
Funny! When we moved - I left a 32" RCA TV in the upstairs bedroom. My bro & kid nearly had hernia's by the time they got it up the steps (all 17 of 'em). Too big to fit through the window so it's the next guys headache when it dies. :D

My user name started out as part of our first email address. It came from hubby who used the first 2 letters of our last name and the first 2 letters of COmpany when he had a business. It's been easy to remember when I signed on!

If I keep sharing about ECF I may want to change that!

Avatar - usually one of a favorite pet: horse or puppers!
