Screen name is a nickname that I picked up 15 years ago. Every one of my friends either calls me Bob Chill or Chill. Almost never Bob. If you met me in person you would understand pretty quickly how I got it.

My avatar is a custom made solid claro walnut Gibson SG guitar. My bro-in-law makes guitars on the side and he bought a piece of claro walnut from some obscure lumberyard in western MA and asked me what style I wanted. I said SG of course! I play it every almost every day. The ironic thing about my nickname/personality is that I play hard rock and heavy metal. The only "light" music I play is regular bar room blues.

Our grade school librarian hosted a story hour once a week and in lieu of a book she would often regale us with stories of growing up during the Depression (I mean, seriously, how many times can someone read The Hungry Caterpillar before going stark raving mad).

Certain stories stuck with me over the years and the most memorable involved a grizzled WWI vet and professional barnstomer who would, once a year, visit the small town where she grew and offer airplane rides in his Curtiss Jenny for 10 cents a passenger. His name, of course, was Crash Moses.

Soooo, eight years ago when I dove head first into combat flight simulations I adopted the name as my moniker and have used it as my on-line presence to this day.

WWI/WWII combat sims (and the history behind them) are still my number one passions (with vaping a very close second). If you think the hardware addiction associated with vaping is bad, do NOT pick up flight simming as a hobby. Just...just...don't.

I'm also a huge sci-fi nut but that has absolutely nothing to do with my moniker so just forget I mentioned it.

Semper vape,

Honestly, mine has a pretty crappy history (ha...). basically, our office runs almost completely on local IM chat and any time someone sends me a message that I can't think of a real reply to, i just type "furt..."

The same thing happens when I need to make a username. I can't think of anything good, so I type Furt.

If it's furt for you then that's fine.

I've led the "biker" life up till 3 years ago. I built and rode Harleys, worked in then owned several tattoo shops over the last 13 years. Then I met my wife. She had a 2 year old from a previous relationship when I met her then 2 and a half years ago we had a baby boy. I stayed home with my son for two years so my wife could continue running her small business. Now dropping off my son to daycare and picking up my step son from school...... I get all kinds of looks from the other parents being the large 6'2 Heavily tattooed guy, I know some of them are unnecessarily intimidated by me. But whatever, I love my kids and I don't give 2 :censored: what any of them think of me.

I think my best look was a tank top while wearing my baby boy in a child carrier around the super market lol Memories :)

An interesting life. But at school - isn't there a little bit of you that is pleased that they are intimidated? Really? Oh, come on...

I took an Art History class as a blow-off course in my freshman year of college and discovered I really like impressionist art. Ever since, 20 years plus at this point, I've been using the name of an Impressionist artist as my screen name.

Pardon? Can't 'ear yer...

Where I am
My handle comes from my Foley work on a movie I once worked on, and the company name I created for it. The long version is Extraordinarily Unordinary, but it was too long for an email account so it got shortened to Extraunordinary. I've never quite understood extraordinary anyways. To me it seems to say you are extra ordinary.

I bunched up my own Nick name and my children's initials... (Gra) for Grace, (c) my daughter, (n) -and- (t) my son....

I've been using this for years for everything. Back when I had aol I tried to find a free user name,,, which took a long time, lol... so I just used this.
Too funny that this letter combo was taken on the Verizon site..... so I had to add some #'s...
Any way,
This is a fun thread!
Happy vaping every one!!

Transient: In acoustics and audio, a transient is a high amplitude, short-duration sound at the beginning of a waveform that occurs in phenomena such as musical sounds, noises or speech.

I think it can also mean a vagrant. Or something ephemeral. The great thing about words is the multiplicity of their meanings. The discipline is learning how to chain them.
