What else have you used to try and quit smoking?

cold turkey. it was an aggravating experience. didnt took me long until I started smoking again, it was like 3 days.
the hand to mouth, the inhale-exhale motion, and ofc the nic are powerful addictions, i didnt bother with gums and patches cause i figured it wont satisfy my cravings.
glad I started vaping, lol.

I read that famous Anti-Smoke book from Carr(?), but more out of curiosity then real ambition to quit. So yeah, with that mindset, it sure didnt work. I don't think it would have either way, though.

Next try, cold turkey. I´ve actually managed to quit for 2 years, that was ~10 years ago. The first couple days I smoked *other ....* just to inhale SOMETHING. Just one or two drags per day, no more. It helped at least so much that I didnt start smashing my head against the wall.

No gums, no patches, no psycho pills. I knew those wouldn't work, as I crave the inhale/exhale more then the Nic. (as seen above)
As soon as I found out about vaping, I knew that was the way out. It had to be.

I tried the patch, gum, and weaning down to a couple a day. Two or four months is the furthest I got away. I recently read you can volunteer for a smoking cessation experiment at Johns Hopkins that employs psychedelic sessions (psilocybin) as a breakthrough to quitting.

    I sort of tried the gum, after 1st failed attempt with vaping. The cheapest stuff is mint which I'm no fan of at all. I did notice it helped if given enough time, just wasn't appealing. Also tried cutting down, although not really trying to quit. That was annoying enough to make vaping a relief. I didn't try to stop as much as just occasionally did start listening to my body telling me to. And really like to vape.

    As someone who used a fair amount of psilocybin in my younger days...
    I'm having a real hard time understanding how that's going to help someone quit smoking...

    But it should be a lot of fun trying.

    For me I started smoking when I was 17-18. I got hooked to Marlboro reds 100s and didn't try quitting for 5 years. One day I was in a smoke shop and saw an electronic cigarette that was thin, with a button that lit up blue when you take a puff and it had a tank. They were selling it for $50 even though nowadays it'll be worth pennies. I thought to myself using common sense. If I smoke something else that still gives me my nicotine why would I need cigarettes which do the very same thing. So I bought the thing quick cold turkey from cigarettes. It's been 3 years now since then. For me it was relatively easy making the transition to vaping although I do know that that was not the case for so many others.

    Gum, patches, but lozenges worked fairly the best out of that stuff. I tried Chantix , drove me off the deep end, went suicidal, almost put in a hospital and wound up divorced over that crap. So I came to the conclusion I would either die of cancer or quit. Somehow vaping worked and the divorce turned out to be a good thing. Win, win win..... I'm still here.

    My aunt did quit off of Chantix with no ill affects so idk whats up with that stuff.
