What exactly does replacing the cotton in cartridges do?

Hey all,

I've read a few posts suggesting that it's a good idea to replace the cotton inside of the cartridges (I'm using a cartridge + atomizer, not cartomizer), and the majority seem to recommend using blue foam. I get the basic idea, that it'll absorb the liquid better and use more of the liquid. I'm wondering though, do different materials have any effect on say, the flavor or amount of vapor produced? Sorry if this has been answered before, and thanks a lot.

Filler material can alter the taste of a nicquid and it can alter the rate at which nicquid gets to the coils and thus vapor production. With that said, regarding blue foam that I've gotten from the local fish tank shoppes, I've never had a problem with it. Taste the same or close enough that I can't remember noticing and vapor production was just fine for my chain-vaping. -Magnus

I find blue foam is less likely to give a burnt poly taste. It holds its shape, it's easy to remove and replace for a full fill (full juice cup 1/2 way, insert tapered end of foam, press it down into the liquid, reposition the foam at top edge of juice cup, top off until ti looks damp). It rinses easily and easy to pat totally dry with paper towel. It also holds its even consistency.

I rarely use a cartridge any more. I use sealed manual batteries and a drip tip on the atty for testing juices or vaping occasional juices, and my favorite thin juices go in cartomizers. 98% of the time I and vaping cartomizers.

I'm using blue foam in carts. You can also get bigger carts like this BreezEsmokes - Premium Electronic Cigarettes, which turns into a tank with blue foam, holds more juice.

Advantages of blue foam - fit and get to use more juice in cart. The white, stock filling takes up more room, thus less juice, and sometimes withhold juice that never gets used. Here's a pic of how to use blue foam https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67_49&products_id=222&zenid=cbof1ggboibvls0hpgo7ijaev5. I drip 9-10 drops into cart before replacing foam. Good juice can last 1+ hour of heavy vaping.

Carts/cartos, it's a personal preference. A recent poll shows folks are about split. Looking at how folks clean their cartos and condom/syringe fill them, I decided on attys + carts, much easier and cheaper. Of course, you can simply throw cartos away without cleaning. 10 minutes to dry burn attys each day and 5 minutes to fill carts for me. Cartos might be easier on the go.

Good vaping!
