Super heated AIR due to lack of liquid.

Same as off the end of a hair dryer.

this. similar thing happens if you have hot legs on a rebuildable. the juice keeps the temperature of the coils down (whatever the boiling temperature of vg/pg is), but once the juice is gone, the coils heat up beyond that point. this is why hot legs give you the same "burnt" and "metallic" taste as a dry hit.

Legs? Is that the same as posts?

not quite - the "legs" are the lengths of wire that are in between the coil and the posts. if your coil isn't quite right, the legs (particularly the one attached to the positive post) are likely to heat up and glow, giving you a dry or burnt hit even though juice is still being vaporized on the wick.

You really need to check the resistance you are using a very low ohm coil and you asking for trouble you are most likely using ICR batteries They do not have the amp limit needed for sub OHM coils Im not trying to bust your balls but you are asking for serious problems. You could send your battery in to thermal stage.
What guage wire are you uesing? If its 28 or 30 go for a 4/5 wrap if ite 32 or 34 make a 3/4 wrap. Make sure none of the coils are touching and you wont get that nasty taste you are getting.
Please do lots of reading and get the proper equipment you need to use sub ohm coils. Dont just guess and hope it works.

with that battery you dont want to go any lower than 1.5 ohms

Oh thanks for the info. I was kinda just doing it for fun anyway, probably would never use it. My main build is a 4 wrap quad coil with a lot of wick to hold juice. I can get 10-12 drags of 5 drops.

umm... please tell me you're not serious...

i don't mean any offense, but a 4-wrap quad coil will be somewhere in the neighborhood of .2-.3 ohms... this is not safe at all, especially if you're using an evic icr battery...

that's a little better (probably around .6 ohms), but i'd still highly recommend getting good imr batteries. the best are aw's, efests, mnke's, and the panasonic hybrid (cgr18650ch) only. the battery that came with your evic is likely an icr, is not safe for sub-ohm coils, and shouldn't be used with an unregulated mod.

the reason for this is that icr's are much more likely to go thermal if they fail. this could cause serious damage to your mod, and it could injure you. if an imr battery fails, it tends to do so much less violently.

i don't mean to preach, but now more than ever making sure you do everything possible to stay safe is very important to the future of electronic cigarettes. there are many special interests out there looking to regulate them or ban them entirely, and all it takes is news one of us hurting ourselves or damaging property or something for these groups to use it against us and get their way.

I think the term must have come about back when cartos were the only thing out there. If the carto was not kept wet you got this really nasty burnt plastic taste. Once you had it you would not forget. Nowadays it's a bit different. I haven't experienced the old nasty hits on some of the newer clearos or cartotanks.

The local shop sells AW batteries for 14 bucks I'll pick a couple up. Funny you should mention efest. I put one in my pocket and it touched a quarter and it started sparking up in there so I tossed that thing like I was in 'Nam and that thing blew up! (well all the acid quickly squirt out!

The terminology goes much further back than that, to the days when ATOMIZERS were the only thing out there.

NEVER carry batteries in a pocket or purse where keys or loose change can contact them.
That's almost a near certain recipe for disaster.

That doesn't just apply to Efest batteries, it applies to any batteries.
