Usually a hybrid is a mod with the atomizer being a part of the assembly instead of an additional 510-connected device.

The atomizer can screw into the body tube directly, so you could technically swap it out for a different atty that fit the same. But sometimes it's truly integral and non-removable.

The design saves the length added to a mod by adding a 510 assembly. Makes for a shorter mod usually.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my understanding of such.

There does not seem to be a consensus here.

One says its a mod/atty device, but you can change the atty if you want

Or

It can't have variable volts or watts

Or

It's a variable watt mod called Orion.

Or

It's marketing and doesn't mean a thing.

Great. Glad we got that figured out now.

ok to clarify - - - - -

the term "HYBRID" refers to a mod and atty built into one unit. you cannot just change the atty unless you buy another HYBRID atty with the same threads.

the question YOU asked is VW hybrid - that is the orion.

in a real hybrid there is NO 510 or external connection. the bottom of the atty IS the battery connection, one piece for improved conductivity and stronger current supplied from the battery. this makes the mod more efficient.

they are usually a one piece single use mechanical mod and atty., some do come with a cap you can screw on instead of the atty to make it a regular mechanical with a 510.

atty unscrewed showing the battery is connected directly to the atty post. - also shows the atty is threaded for the tube

the mod screwed together showing how the hybrid is clean looking with no connection seems between the atty and the tube unlike a regular mech and atty would look

this is the optional 510 connector to make it a normal mechanical mod

in the end hybrids work great, the problem is in most cases you can only use that one atty.

you can take a kick and add vw to a hybrid if the kick will fit. but they do not make vw or vv hybrids.

If you were confused as to what it is you trying to find out and we didnt understand the question, cool no harm done.

Ok. This was much clearer. Thanks.

Just to make sure I understand.

It's a mech mod with a directly threaded custom atti right onto the battery top or connector. No 510 or ego connector (unless an adaptor is attached to the top of the battery tube, thus de-hybridzing it. )

Then there is the Orion which is a VW tube mod with a similar custom atti on top.

Right?
