Of course, there would be a huge problem with that, because most religious people are not going to "join" an atheist club. Slow death to the thread awaits.

I needed to change your social groups setting from "moderated" (that requires you to "approve" posts), to "public" (which is open to all).

Seems like it would fix the issue.... just waiting on confirmation to tweeking.

Why would it matter the group when the thread and discussion is about religion ? I would think that it wouldn't and that the group being open to all would allow perspectives from anyone.

Because I think a lot of people's perceptions will be that if it's in the Atheist Social Group, that automatically implies a bias towards atheism. ESPECIALLY if they have to join.

May I suggest renaming the group something else? Possibly the Religion Debate Group or Religion Discussion Group or even World View Discussion Group instead? Something that encompasses more than one viewpoint and won't make people feel weird and affiliated with a group if they're not.

Joining is not a requirement anymore.... that issue has been corrected.

I will mention to the owner of the sub-forum & group (who is also the OP of this thread we are talking about) what you have suggested.

On the other hand, I myself tend to look at someones profile and recent post history who creates a thread of this or any other "subjective" topics before participating in them, as I would expect others woud as well to know or at least attempt to know or verify the personality of someone I'm about to engage discussion with.

Yeah I tried to post to see if it was fixed. Clearly it is not. I am sure they have their hands full with the move. Hopefully they will get your thread back on track. Not gonna be much of a debate if you have to be a member of the atheists club to post.

I thought that quote from "the pot" was appropo for our current situation. My old signature bashing the FDA was too over the top. I suppose that at least to an extent, (like it or not) I do represent the people I work for when I speak up on this forum so... I went for something a tad more subtle =)
