They should ban the FDA for being stupid.

I liked your entire post, but this one line is the part that's REALLY right on the money!!!

If only stupidity were a crime... 90% of the human population would be behind bars! But, sadly, even smart people sometimes do stupid things (raising hand)... so I guess that's not really workable. :D

So if they ban e-cigarette should they ban cigarettes?

If their bloviating about better public health through strong regulation was in any way sincere, cigarettes would've been banned at least 20 years ago.

As I said in earlier post. I see lots of backlash. Not epic amounts of it, but enough that it would be noticeable in mainstream media on a near daily basis for weeks while it is being considered. I think us ECF'ers would be attacking the position, very aggressively, for awhile. And I don't see it as an issue isolated to a few politically aware vapers.
Sure, here on ECF we would be up in arms, or at least I hope so.
But the entire vaping world is mostly unaware of all of these issues from what I can tell.

There will be very little backlash from what I can tell.
And what "little" backlash their might be will be summarily and willfully ignored by the mainstream media.

I sure hope I'm wrong though.

But I've been waiting for "this" and "that" to happen, and wake up the vaping world.
Well "this" has happened, and the vaping world did not wake up.

Maybe when "that" happens, they will.
But I'm starting to have my doubts.

We'll all just boil, like frogs in a pot of water.
I sure hope I'm wrong though.

Regardless, I will never stop doing what I can to make sure what is right prevails over what is very, very wrong.
At least I will sleep well at night knowing I did what I could.

...

I think this is what is Forgotten Many Times. That the Active Members of the ECF are Only a SMALL Fraction of the Entire Vaping Population.

You go out into Public and ask a Vaper that you see what He/She feels about The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act and they will look at you like this...

I read something in some blog recently that the American Heart Association has "cautiously" given their approval to e-cigs. They think it ought to be treated like a smoking cessation product, but they agree that it's considerably less harmful than smoking, for those who otherwise can't or won't quit. It surprised me a little, given that nicotine does have some cardiovascular effects. Let me see if I can find that link again...

EDIT: Found it -- https://www.electroniccigarettesrev...n-heart-association-gives-cautious-nod-vaping

See what y'all think.

But the entire vaping world is mostly unaware of all of these issues from what I can tell.

The issue of stopping online sales is bigger deal than just vaping community. It would be spun by us that way and by some in mainstream media, and even by some politicians. And of course there would be spin the other way (won't anyone think of the children).

To this moment, I think the flavors issue is the biggest one of them all, but I think the online sales one is very big and for all I know is perhaps bigger one.

It becomes even bigger deal when they (who seek prohibition) could say it doesn't matter if the liquid has nicotine or not, it is still prohibited from online sales. If they go in that direction, I think it'll help us in terms of backlash that would occur.

There will be very little backlash from what I can tell.

What is the "this" you are referring to?

Since I've started vaping (almost 3 years ago), not much has changed from what I can and cannot do. Options for flavors and gear has increased. I realize the political winds are blowing against us. But, you write as if something very significant has occurred and no one, outside of a small few, did anything about it. So, again, I ask, what is "this" that you are referring to?

To this moment, I think the flavors issue is the biggest one of them all,

I have still never heard a cogent argument in support of the proposition that forcing people to vape cigarette flavors will make them less likely to smoke cigarettes. But I realize full well that cogent arguments have little to do with ANTZ rhetoric, and thus I digress.

but I think the online sales one is very big and for all I know is perhaps bigger one.

I think this one falls under "good luck putting the toothpaste back in the tube" at this point. Aside from which, no one has yet established, or even attempted to establish, that online underage sales are a problem so widespread as to warrant federal-level intervention. It would make more sense, at any rate, to prohibit minors from purchasing prepaid credit cards. Boom. Nonexistent problem solved.

I just disagree with the kids stuff. I find it so sad that some of the arguments are the most Idiotic ones. I mean the fact that we add the 18 year of age is awesome I am all for it, or add the warnings on the label Warning this stuff could kill you, but only on the bottles of liquid containing nicotine.

Like alcohol, any kids could obtain, by any means necessary, a bottle of alcohol or beer and start drinking. Not by going to the corner store but at home or friends.

I mean to track this is impossible and should be the home owners responsibility to make sure it is placed in a secure area, just like a bottle of Draino or Cleaning products.

E-Cigarette may look like a standard cigarette and the motion could be the same but so as drinking a milkshake with a straw.

I saw one guy sucking through a straw to help him quit the habit of smoking as he wanted to try “Cold Turkey”. Should straws be considered a warning?

Sucking on a straw could make young kid think it a cigarette and think it’s cool therefore we suggest the public to stop using straws.

How pathetic is this. If it looks or makes some sort of mimic, than kids will be prone to try this... wow.

We have website full of porn that kids have access to, but I have never seen someone come up and say “We should ban these cause people might think we should all do it like them...” but now I’m just going out of context, but still as stupid, as we need the facts and not just thinking process.

Who am I to judge if a gasoline car omits more pollution than a Hybrid but cost above average... I mean to go health / eco friendly you/we have to pay extra...that is just the way life goes but come on, enough is enough.

I mean I can buy bath salt (the Zombie drug) online and have it shipped to my home...

Different is all, and you would have to know the fear level I was at before reading the blurb to have any measure.
I guess I'm just having a hard time understanding how reading the deeming regulations would not increase concern.
Unless said reading of the deeming regulations is failing to see the potential for devastating the market?

One thing I do know is that much of the vaping world read the regulations and decided it wasn't as bad as feared.
But those people didn't really read between the lines to see what those regulations could really mean.

On the surface, the regulations APPEAR to be what many vapers want.
But that is just because the FDA worded their summary to make it sound not nearly as destructive as it may actually be.

It takes informed analysis to get into the details that lie beyond the summarized version.

They don't want us up in arms, and they seem to have done a very good job of making things seem "not so bad" when they really might be.

The publication of the proposed deeming regulations.

Isn't this Why the proposed "Deeming" included Very Little information about e-Liquids? So the Focus would be on Hardware.

BTW - You know what Scares me? The Harkins and the Boxers and Diane F. Because the FDA will craft the Rules and Regs. But Congress will be the ones who say if they are Inclusive enough.

Look, I have a nicer tinfoil hat than most, looks like a Roman centurion helmet so potential overreaching and conspiracy is no stranger to me. This is a simple concept, I have read far worse impending doom predictions from the sky is falling crowd so this is tame by comparison. That is all.

If you fear level is higher than mine, it is what it is. I personally don't like any of it but I aint going to Chicken Little out either. They will do what they do despite what I think.

Fair enough.
:)

But I don't have any fear at all, because I have ten years worth of supplies.
I'm not fighting this fight for me though.

They will do what they do despite what I think.
But this is the thing that worries me, where people think we can't make any impact.
Maybe we can't in the end, but I do know for sure that if we don't think we can we certainly won't.
